THANK YOU. I just did this job on a 2009 compass in 40 min with hand tools because of you. Thank you for the great detail, especially the point about tightening the bolts with the full weight of the car on the ground.
Thank you for the video, very informative and instructional, the AMOUNT OF DETAIL you verbally explained along with the video angles was PERFECT! I was able to do this entire job on a 2008 Jeep Patriot 4WD (with a lot of rust from road salt) in about 4 hours, no special tools with the vehicle on floor jacks. YOU DID A GREAT JOB THANK YOU!!!
Hands down the best video of this process on RUclips. You are a great mechanic!
I appreciate the video! I'm a seasoned backyard mechanic (and Aircart technician), but always do my research before I fix something on my own vehicles, just in case there's something unusual about the job. I have to say, you are one the the most well spoken RUclips mechanics out there. I've watched a LOT of them, and in the vast majority are the guys "Umm'ing and Uhh'ing" for half the video, lol.
Thanks for such a clear demonstration. My 2008 Patriot was klunky/noisy. Thought it was sway bar bushings and end links at first, but mechanic evaluated and said it was the control arms. The wiggle in the wheels with my car up on the hoist was evident. He changed them, and what a difference. Thanks, and saved.
Hey man. I am a guy who loves to do his own work but is smart enough to know what my limitations are. I've been doing more and more work on my fiance's Jeep and my own Pathfinder (brakes, suspension, body work, etc) and I have to swap out her RL hub/bearing and the FL lower control arm - the latter of which is exhibiting precisely the same symptom you show in this video. Since I can't find a Haynes manual for her car, your video is PERFECT. Very useful and helpful information and I am extremely confident that I will have no trouble with this repair. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Gonna tackle this on Saturday, seems simple enough, thanks for the great tutorial! ☺👍
Thanks MotorCity Mechanic I plan to change my ball joints in my 2007 jeep compass. This video will help as a guide. I will update you once its done. Again thanks.
Did a good job of explaining everything really stright to the point no b.s ...thankyou
Like a teacher - that's how to present! Well done & TY for helping
Your videos are awesome! Very informative and great camera work. Thank you!
Definitely doing this myself. Thank you. They were going to charge me 700 dollars.
This is going to save me a lot of time trying to figure it out! My wife slid her 2009 into a ditch and mangled the arm. The half-shaft survived (thankfully) and the strut is... Iffy. But the inner tie rod end and the sway bar linkage bit it, too. $200 repair job, but thanks to your video, it looks like it's not going to be an all-day job.
Great video man! I need to replace my control arm on my front drivers side because the ball joint is bad on my 08 Jeep Patriot. This video gave me a lot of information, thank you.
Thank you so much for this. Answered everything I needed to know,
Thanks for the step by step as DIY saved me $$$. Firestone quoted me 900$ to install both. They were charging 299$ per side and 300$ labor. They were going to install moog rather than mopar. Rock auto had mopar for 125$ each side.
Just subscribed and liked! You do a great job at explaining your work! Nice video angles...good sound....and great "simple to understand" steps. Awesome work and thank you for taking the time to share!
Thanks so much. Excellent video, very comprehensive and detailed. Saved me time and money.
Thank you.. Have to do this tomorrow.
Well lit video and great explanation ---especially only tighten when vehicle is under load--Thank-you
