  • We need 20 ft of clearance high and wide in order for our Shipping Container to be delivered. We planned to spend the whole day clearing the necessary spots for it, and we finished earlier than expected. So we decided to head over to the conex seller yard to have a look. Well what do you know, but we bought one and scheduled delivery.
    In this video we show how and where we cleared, as well as the shipping container being dropped off.
    The truck and to drive about 1400 ft to the spot. You can see in a previous video where we repaired our drive in to prepare for this. We fixed some ruts and had several tons of rock poured. Ironically a week or so after that came a huge rain that washed a lot of it out. We had to end up digging a ditch along the south side to divert any future water and it's worked out great (also a video on that where we rented a mini-excavator)! In this video we were using our Ryobi 40v battery powered chainsaw which is awesome, but the chain needed some serious sharpening, so it was painful! Don't judge the chainsaw based on this video because it's seriously awesome.
    Now that shipping container is delivered we have SO MANY PLANS! First we need to ventilate it. We are trying to decide if we want to put a roof on because that's going to dictate how we ventilate. We are going to put awnings off the front and the back and harvest rainwater to use for spraying off the equipment we're going to store inside as well as solar.
    I also mention in this video that we picked out a spot to build platforms for which our bell tents will sit. We are soooo excited for that and cant wait to share!

    Very cool!! I like that I am able to watch the progress so quickly lol. I had a 20 ft one delivered. The drivers are like, whatever, I can get it in there. The owners on the other hand... I use mine for storage, too. I hope to empty it eventually and haul it out in the woods to make a tiny home out of. That will definitely be down the road a bit. I am excited to see what all y'all do now!!

      This driver was so funny! He did a good job for us, though he's been fired since this video.

    You guys did good I had a 20ft delivered . I used a 4 ton low profile jack too level it out. Should be ok for a 40 foot as well Then you can adjust the footing support on each corner any way you like

      Thanks! We used the low profile floor jack where we could, and the hi-lift where we weren't able to fit the floor jack under. Worked like a charm, though we do need to rebuild our hi-lift jack. Thanks for watching!

    Off grid cabin/hunting lodge/storage! Very cool. You definitely need to get your audio narration a little louder but otherwise cool video!

    So what is the plan for the container? Storage? Home? Do you have a video describing what you are doing there?

    • @OurNewLand
      @OurNewLand  2 года назад +1

      For now, It's going to be used for storage. No video for it, as of yet. We will be adding a small solar system to it next week, but it will only run the lights and fan. Rood will be added to it early next, as well as a rain harvesting setup. Thanks for asking!

    Did the wooden floor come with the container? If so you got pesticide problems in the long run.

      Yes, the shipping containers come with wooden floors on the inside, but the entire outside of the SC is metal -- no exterior wood. Thanks for watching!

    is that a 20 or 40? Did you get a High Cube?

    • @OurNewLand
      @OurNewLand  Месяц назад

      It’s a 40’ high cube. We now have two of them side by side, with a metal roof between. Thanks for watching!

    A 20 ft shipping container is not twenty feet wide lol!

      The company that delivered it said they would like 20' of clearance on the road.

      Right! The truck needed 20’ clearance above and to the sides to be able to “fit” and deliver it!
