Why do the Cape Muslims Hollandse Niederlands Afrikaans kore members not comment
Is it because they are scared of other choirs members?

Mr Ebrahim Solomons answered your query. We have our own unique dialect. We are also not scared of other choir members' comments. It is particular to the Cape Muslim community. It reflects the diaspora of slaves n other free members that set sail for unknown territory, n maybe the loved ones remaining behind promising, to wait for their return.

No they are not scared. It might be construed as a diaspora song if you take it that husband and wife slaves were often seperated. It does not have to be in Dutch. It is in the language of that spoken by the Cape inhabitants who were not of white origin

Cape Malays , are a Muslim community in South Africa. They are the descendants of enslaved and free Muslims from different parts of the world, specifically Indonesia and other Asian countries. The Cape Malay language is unique Afrikaans dialect born and bred in Cape Town by the Cape Malay.

Nobody said it was a diaspora song. It is a love song- did you listen to the lyrics - a song of longing and sadness.
