Dude, you are seriously underrating this cinematic icon. Even if you can ignore the fact that 'The Astro Zombies' is one of the coolest titles ever, it is impossible to overlook its many triumphs. First, the cars are awesome: the Mustang, the Cadillac, the vertical headlight Pontiac that the villains are cruising around in with their homemade radar -- all classics. Second: The chick that 'Igor' is experimenting on is HOT! Who is she? How did she get there? Who the hell cares! Such questions mean nothing to any heterosexual male. Kill!', the woman who showed Elvis how to go down on a woman, is wiggling around in a pink dress that looks like it's about to fall off, all the while outwitting the good guys, out bad-assing the bad guys, and brazenly meeting her fate at the hands of an astro zombie. This movie scared the crap outta me when I was a kid. I can remember watching it on Bob Wilkins show and I went to bed afterwards and I couldn't sleep. I stayed up all night worrying about the astro zombies and I finally was able to go to sleep when the sun came up.
This was originally an instruction movie for CIA radio operatives, but people fell asleep watching it therefore the makers added a few ladies and zombies to spice things up.
As someone who grew up with reel-to-reel tape recorders, I really enjoy the obscure continuity error when Tura Santana was listening tot ape the tape. When the caermas shows her on the couch, the tape is running normally, going from the left side to the right side. Yet when we see the tape recorder closer, the tape is running in the opposite direction, from right to left. Minor sure but I enjoyed it!
Oh, the excitement! In the scene where “Marko” changes the circuit board, we can spot, from those telltale chrome push buttons, part of a BC-603 radio! A feeble 1950’s FM military radio. Much later we get a glimpse of part of a 1939 Navy radio. The prop budget might have been in the high teens!

While I definitely agree this is a seriously awful cinematic disaster, two *tiny* redeeming qualities besides the poster are the plethora of cool cars and beautiful women featured throughout. Not enough to save anything, but at least to warrant glancing back at the screen for a few seconds.

No, the wifi was spotty and the one day there was an argument because I wanted a calzone and they didn’t want to spring for it because “iT’s NoT piZzA” and I mean, ok, it’s TECHNICALLY not pizza but STILL it’s in the pizza “family” ya know?
@@FanboyFlicks what the bananas man. You’d think diabolical men owning underwater cities would be more forward thinking with their Italian foods. This nonsense would never happen With Spectre.
@@FanboyFlicks I'm English, we call them 'Italian pasties'.
15:34 It's highly underrated how you have the shadow on the green screen of the scene. Well played sir
(I'm guessing it's a duplicate/mask on another layer?)
Great video, Mark. I tried watching this a couple of years ago. Whoa, you're right. I couldn't even finish it, absolutely painful to watch. All power to you for getting through it
Any WMWM video without a Mark Meltdown is not a real WMWM video.
Love it.
We appreciate your sacrifice.
This is clearly the greatest movie of all time, society has just not gotten to a high enough level to appreciate the genius of this movie.
16:03 There was something about Juan that looked familiar...
Actor Raphael Campos would later play character Sancho Gomez in the 1983 miniseries V
what i like about these kinds of movies, is that it really teaches you what to do when you are in these specific situations
10:51 the best part about this scene is how she’s lounging on the couch PERFECTLY with her skirt laid just so to show off her legs while wearing HEELS no less and smoking a cigarette. Also, is she farsighted or who tf reads a newspaper like that!? 😂 I can’t
I appreciate your sacrifice Mark. You DID make this movie entertaining!! Also I loved seeing Satana. So it was win-win for me!😁😍
Always great to get a new video from you! Do you happen to have any plans to do any newer/more modern movies?
When you put yourself in the movie.. I die every time. Like tears laughing stupid. I know it’s going to happen at some point of each video but gets me! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Red paint? He was clearly eating french fries and Ketchup. It's like you're not even trying, Mark.
"For the love of God, do something!"
Is what my girlfriend says to me every night.
The movie managed to get me lost at the part where they talk about the meeting at the club, even with Mark explaining it. I went back trying to catch something I missed XD
Mark, your videos are so wonderful to laugh through after all long day. Thanks for the watch and your wit as well.
What did the guy hit while he was driving in a field??? And WHY was he driving in a field??
I've never had so much fun laughing at someone's insane rage over movie boredom. Bravo, Mark! 🤣
I always knew it. bore the American people to subservience. then work on Europe. brilliant. explains 40 years of TV too. bonanza. teenwolf
I can believe that ! Lol. 😂😝😁
Always love your reviews. Thank you for what you do for us. The pain you go thru can’t be equaled by anything.
What’s insane is that there are actually actors who are REAL and KNOWN in this movie…if you can call it a movie.
"....degassing the circuits... Degassing is removing dissolved gases from liquids.
Of all the words the script 'writer' might have picked.... oh never mind.
Surely lumpys circuitry vídeo from the life day special could help fast things
@@graceskerp Prolly meant "de-gaussing". Something you do to color CRT's. Or tape recorder heads. The unit of magnetic field strength is the Gauss. Named after Dr. Gauss.
@@georgegonzalez2476 I sit corrected. Thank you George for the insight. It is surprising they got something right.
Once again Mark, thank you for taking another one for the team!!!🙏👍🏆👻
19:13 That edit made me laugh harder than it should have.
Sad to see Wendell Corey and John Carradine in a film like this. They were first class actors in the 1940s and 1950s, but Corey severe substance abuse problems (he died shortly after this film was made), and Carradine had a troubled personal life.
Mark's content is so entertaining I hit the like button just as I start the review 😀
Man, I'm so glad I found your channel. This stuff is funny as hell. Great work!
Lab of Ambiguity is a good band name.
See Manos: The Hands of Fate knew how to waste the viewers time. Sure they had pointless driving and walking scenes but they did it with style. Torgo style.
I've only seen this movie via Rifftrax, and even THEN it's only barely tolerable.
A headbutt to the balls!! Didn't see that coming. No doubt the best shot of the movie hands down
This movie just has a level of awesomeness that a rare few can appreciate, that's all.
14:13 This happens to you when you answer the wrong person on craigs list.
Another great video, Mark! I truly enjoy them every time.
Saw this in Amarillo, Texas 1969 on a double feature bill with "The Undertaker and His Pals". As a 13 year old boy that was normally fascinated and easily entertained by just about everything back in those days, I was bored shitless. 😆The Undertaker (et.al) was just as bad! A match made in Hell!
Please never stop creating content lol I freggin love you dude lol
I, for one am happy that Juan got a new hat. Really drove the story for me.
BUT, it inspired a killer song!
I think that was just the title. The song lyrics have nothing to do with the plot of the movie.
The film ws co-written by Wayne Rogers, who played Trapper John in the M.A.S.H. TV series, and who collaborated with director Ted V. Mikels on a number of projects.
Mark, never stop making videos. They always brighten my day :)
X2
There are 3 sequels to this movie Mark of the Astro-Zombies (2004), Astro Zombies: M3 - Cloned (2010) and Astro Zombies: M4 - Invaders from Cyberspace (2012)
I knew there were two, but a THIRD sequel?!
Have you seen it? I thought the two sequels were bad, but not as tedious as the original.
@@DarthPerkins I was checking on the follow up movies and tripped over the third I've never watched it but given the general trend of the others it will be, lets be generous cheap but cheerful and should be approached with the full knowledge of being an Astro-Zombie movie
@@alankohn6709Made in 2012... I'm trying to imagine how low the quality of CGI would be, but my mind doesn't go down to that resolution.
@@DarthPerkins Look they wont be that bad compared to say a Pong game
The misfits
I literally get nostalgia coming back to your channel. I'm so glad you're still making content and I hope you keep growing and making videos man. It's good to see you haven't changed man.
Back off, man! They said I'M the lucky sucker, I mean, winner lol
Had to wait a couple days to watch this, but it was worth it.
Just wanted to say, Mark... you accepted the challenge and knocked it out of the park. Great laughs all around!
Mark, another BRILLIANT review... I think you should give the movie "shotgun" ... it's one for my favorite cheesy action buddy cop B-movies... it has arguably one of the most ridiculous antagonists I've ever seen
I’ll give it a look, thanks!
I literally died of laughter when the zombie grabbed that totally unexpected machete
I love that the Zombie outfit is all clean, would someone on the street see a running Zombie outside? LOL
If you have'nt seen them, there are two movies directed by Paul Morrissey, both starring Udo Kier and Joe Dallesandro. 'Flesh For Frankenstein' and 'Blood For Dracula'. They are a riot of hilarity. Definately so bad they are good.
I have those flicks - my favourite scene from those is when Joe cuts Dracula down to size - and I mean that literally, one limb at a time, all the while Drac is running around like a headless chook...
Nothing like having a handy cake cover to protect your plastic brain!
Need to get it right. Her government wants a SUBSERVIANT zombie, not just any garden variety zombie.
This channel kinda just relaxes me
someone please help me there is an old episode of the show where Mark does a bit where he walks to the kitchen and takes a shot of vodka every time the movie does something stupid but i forgot which one it was and i never was able to find it again so if anyone remembers this too please reply with the link i will be eternally in your debt
While I definitely agree this is a seriously awful cinematic disaster, two *tiny* redeeming qualities besides the poster are the plethora of cool cars and beautiful women featured throughout. Not enough to save anything, but at least to warrant glancing back at the screen for a few seconds.
She drives a “Mustang” in the opening of “Astro Zombies”…and Rod drives a Mustang in the opening of “Birdemic”. Coincidence???? 🤔
MARK YOU’RE SPOILING US
I like the cutaways when Mark is wearing the vintage suit. I have got to get me one of those classic suits! BTW when he inserts himself into a scene that is too damn funny.
It is a really bad movie but it's a great Misfits song.
Tura Satana went from playing (and writing - and performing the stunts) super badass Varla in "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" to this garbage...
That's like following up a nuclear bomb explosion with a wet fart. What an absolute bummer!
Oh hai Mark
I am a glutton for really bad movies for a number of reasons, intellectual forensics maybe, but I already agree with you man, this is way up in the Zed zone of uck.
