My 2010 GU Patrol cab chassis came with an approx 80l steel subtank, incorporated into the front right undertray toolbox with a stainless water tank. its mounted fairly high, never going to hit it. I've got 165-180l basically 'stock'.
I can replace the main tank at the back with a 175l Brown Davis tank, probably will at some point, and I've still got heaps of room under the tray in the centre if I ever want to fab something up..
Cab chassis setups give you a heap more room underneath. Eat Tritons for breakfast.
Had a Brown Davis long range tank on my MN Triton and it made a huge difference to our range and confidence when remote touring. Just about to get o be fitted to our new MR Triton.
Excellent video and great format. One small mistake though. You spoke about the weight of the new tank but forgot to take off the weight of the existing tank. For most long range fuel tanks you can expect to have an overall weight increase of around 20kg.

I’ve put a ARB Frontier tank in my MQ triton and it hangs a little lower than I thought.
I’ve had no issues with it going off road super strong.other The only issue I had was the fuel gauge not showing the correctly and took a while to sort that out.
I bought my patrol with a Long ranger 125l fuel tank in it. Had the car 16 or so years and it hasn't cracked or leaked and is clean inside. Its been through some rough country and terrible corrugations and it hung in there. The only minus is it is a good idea to keep the tank towards full to reduce condensation and you end up carting a fair bit of weight around all the time.
It has saved me on some long trips where I used more fuel than I thought and the extra legs got me to the next fuel station.
Ive fitted 2 long ranger tanks instructions were good also 1 was fitted to a body lifted patrol and they gave us the option of a 2 inch taller tank to make good use of the tank they also when fitted were the only people doing a secondary charcoal canister yes petrol issue but still relevant for compliance now ive made 1 enquiry on a brown davis secondary tank for the instructions to inspect possible fitment issue on a camper van (toyota) very little info on how the 2nd tank mounts probably still a excellent tank but doesnt give me much faith having poor quality instructions
Anothet question : which ones sit flush with the chassis rail and which ones hang below?

Just got my mq brown Davis tank today. It has a quality control sticker with Thai writing and the Thai date on it. This would suggest it is made in Thailand. Bugger. Thought I was buying Aussie made.
I've got the Brown Davis and no issues so far. For those below saying to investigate issues, they also come with a 3 Year Warranty. #OZ_Made!

I would look at the reveiws people have left about the Brown Davis fuel tanks.... Reports of welds cracking and internal components falling apart inside the tank... Just a heads up

Probably a good idea to have a pre-filter any time you've got a steel tank, just in case bits of paint, rust or steel particles flake off, not to mention more room for condensation.
Do you know if the Brown Davis will show up/ match with my fuel gauge and range til empty etc?
That would be my major selling point. (My reason for the upgrade is the towing range of my MR Triton with the caravan attached)
Hey mate, yes the fuel gauge is still correct but unfortunately the range til empty is no longer accurate. You'd want to put a few tanks of diesel through it to work out how your gauge correlates with how far you get out of your tank 👍
Blows me away the they went with a stock 70L tanks when most of the other utes of the same age are 80L stock. I need a new tank in my ranger and arbs steal option weighs 55kg for 140L capacity. The frontier tank 22kg. Also 140L. Im opting for the frontier poly tank.

Where did you get the Brown Davis tank at $1095.00? I understand this was posted a year ago but the best I can do today is $1245.00.

This rapid inflation thing happened. A packet of potato chips is $6 now. A year ago it was $3.
ARB reminds me of snap-on tools.. overpriced and overrated :)
