- The Supreme Court on Thursday heard arguments in Trump v. Anderson, a case that questions whether former President Donald Trump is ineligible for the presidency because of his conduct related to the assault at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The case, which stems from a lawsuit filed by six Colorado voters, cites Section 3 of the 14th Amendment as the reasoning for keeping Trump off the ballot.

The very first word of your comment is misspelled. Your comment is unsupported, uncorroborated, and false.
The office of President is a figure head office with very little power, Congress can over ride any decisions that the president makes, this is why Amendment 14(3) did not include the offices of president or vice president.
Yes, if one's at one time in OFFICE, then he's an OfficER. Not that hard to understand.
Truth is, there is no difference between office and officer. The reason why is clear and simple. If it's an office and you're a member of said office, then you're an officer.
The Constrtion includes both !
Although your comment is irrelevant it is also likely incorrect as the CONTEXT is missing.
It was WRITTEN specifically to prevent those serving in a recognized ARMY from later serving in the government it had fought against. It was specific to the Civil War era, hardly - if ever- used and left in place mainly due to Congressional disinterest.
There are likely a few more relevant terms we the people should dust off and examine.

He never met Donald Trump. Respect has to be earned not given blindly . You can quote anyone you want… Wheeler was a justice in 1928. There was no 24 hr news, no internet which allows anyone to say anything and have it repeated a million times in a second. There’s no lie detector screening information as it comes in It reminds me of Trump who uses his right to free speech to lie, deceive, effect revenge on anyone who speaks out against him. He stirs up fear and anger and distrust of the government, law enforcement, the media, the military, lawyers, judges, women, the election process and the officials that run that process, he stirs up disdain and distrust against the Democratic Party, the constitution, NATO, our allies - he has pretty much torn apart everything America stands for. He trusts, tries to emulate and repeats the rhetoric of evil dictators, and war mongers and white nationalists. So if I scoff at the Supreme Court and question the fairness of their decisions, I have a right to. There is no built in integrity, honesty or nonpartisan justice that somehow deserves our blind allegiance. If you have to mandate morality, integrity and fairness and force we the people to blindly accept, have faith in, and follow nine human beings with all their own beliefs, values and principles and biases to make potential life long laws that effect even the most intimate freedoms we are entitled to, and continue on till death do us part. No, we have every right to insist that our freedom is built into the fabric of the laws of this nation and to have a voice and means to vote out politicians and invite in a government which has been equitably elected to serve knowing that they have a few years to get it right for the people. And they must not be deified and worshipped as the all knowing and all powerful answers to lifelong laws and not be held accountable for every decision they make
The SCOTUS has gone to injustice.
What injustice? If it is the will of the people to elect a person to president! The question is not what happens if one state chooses. The question is the law.

The 11th circuit court of appeals ruled that when mark meadows was involved in the phone call with the Georgia Secretary of State that he was acting as a member of the Trump campaign as not as chief of staff. Also the immunity argument has never been brought before. Most judges regardless of who appointed them and what their ideology is don’t like doing something that’s never been done before.
Those "officials" should be charged with treason.
It's all the defenses interpretation of the 14th amendment section 3. Our forefathers didn't mean it to be interrupted the way they are putting it. They meant anyone involved or causes an insurrection should be charged and not be able to run for office again. Not even a president!!
The appetite court judges should stop the delays of the court processes that are set to go on independently before our election. Let him appeal the charges against him after he's been charged, just like anyone else would be. And stop the lies and fraud and interference of the court cases. They can rule that the cases against him are done before the election. They know that there's enough evidence against him and I believe they are letting all the delay of the courts from prosecuting and charging him before the election. Something is wrong here, myself I believe there's bribes, conflict of interest and there's no bipartisan of any kind of the appetite court judges. I do believe that they have the power to rule that that cases against him happen before the election. Let him appeal the charges after the cases are done, I know that I could never delay or interfere with the courts like he is. They know if he's charged he'll be removed from running or holding any office again. But politics seem to be all about money or favors to get things changed or thrown out by donations by the rich and large companies.
This is why CBS has the worst ratings
The issue is how does the 14th amendment affect Donald Trump’s behavior on January 6. One has to prove that Trump acted to overthrow the US government. Objecting to an election is a right any candidate can make. Emotions about any candidate is not cause for a hasty decision.
Rudy: 'Trial by combat', Trump: 'Fight like Hell', 'They are taking your rights away', get mad as hell, because in their words, in the actions AND inactions, Donald Trump allowed the terror to reign on Jan. 6, and people died as well as being injured! Donald Trump was why they came, not for Rudy, not for Hillary, not for Obama (lest any be confused)?
There's no proof otherwise Merrick Garland would have prosecuted Trump under 18 usc §2383 and if convicted would then be disqualified from holding office along with being fined, jailed.
That's the appropriate enforcement remedy for section 3 since section 5 only gives enforcement power to congress through legislation.
Our Supreme Court....WOW!....They are brilliant!
The state would not be deciding the sc would just be taking the state argument to the Constitution.
The President what is the oath of office?
The Supreme Court does what it wants.
Law be damned.
Constitution be damned.
Precedent be damned.
Common sense be damned.
Hmm, do I think the Supreme Court is better at interpreting our laws or internetYahoo1848?
The Supreme Court is not going to take away trump. Lord Help Us All.
What happened to your brain growing up? Oh yeah, the news!
Bahahaj 🤡
The Supreme Court, bought and paid for by the 🍊 traitor, well, 3 of them anyway. 😢

Why? So you can keep getting US aid?
Murray is young, a little inexperienced......but absolutely brilliant......and thoroughly prepared and erudite .....and more importantly confidently convincing........❤
Murray is a traitor. He is evil.
Wally can only hope that the Supreme Court does what you're supposed to do
1:25:25 Just a handful of states decide? What? Since when? Who ever heard of such an inegalitarian system? Oh, wait...I see the Electoral College has joined the chat.
UNITED STATES TRUMP 24
Though there us term limits that doesnt bar the State to disqualify the insurrectionist becayse of tge change of power/ authority. The "term Officer" was meant to be genersl word during when the framers were drafting and meant to include everybody including the President as it was enumerated tge positions and it was only later after the framers wgen tgey differentiate the word "officers" & "official", timefrane is imfortant
I think if you read 14.3 you'll find terms like "or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state" does not require you to be an officer. Lots of ORs in Section 3.
The RNC does have an opportunity to choose someone who is not an insurrectionist and criminal!
Lock him up alongside those who are in jail from Jan 6 insurrection
What insurrection?
you mean rioters? lol. Cause I can find videos of thousands of leftists doing insurrection in state capitals and cities. Seriously CHAZ/CHOP was an insurrection. They said that this land was completely separate from the United States.
@@HaloDude321 the same one you probably participated in. That insurrection
Not one person has been convicted or even charged with insurrection.
Nancy? Is that you?
PS3 American the people have the right to choose to vote from Donald Trump

It is a basic, common word.
