Yeah, I was also wondering about that, but here's what I found on Wikipedia: "A residency may follow the internship year or include the internship year as the first year of residency" I guess they just do that on Grey's. Hope it helps ;)

yeah the one on ABC(is that the channel?) is season 6 but this clip is from season 5 as you can see it in the title. and even if you were right about this one(wich you're not btw--just had to add that in there:D) there is a dozen more reasons why grey's is bad with continuity. I still love it though-obviously.i mean I watch it:)
I don't get this. in the first 3 seasons they were interns(for 1 year) in the 4th 5th season Lexie is an intern(for 1 year) wich would mean that in the 4th and 5th seasons they're 1st year residents yet Arizona said Karev is 2nd year R. Grey's is just so bad with continuity.:)
forgot to add...i LOVE the whole "I went all Say Anything with the peds surgeon in front of the peds surgeon date" and how cute is freaking Arizona in her scrub hat....
@Bubika0716 The "intern" year is the first year of residency. First-year resident = intern = PGY-1, so once that's over, you're immediately a second-year resident (PGY-2).
