Great video. There's an interesting psychology behind game balance because players have a skewed perception of what's actually fair. For most players in competitive games, a balanced and fair set of systems puts them at a 60-70% win rate over their opponent. The closer it gets to 50%, the more unbalanced it feels.
HUH no way you bringing up the quick pointing table made me remember THE EXACT THING i did for balancing similar stats of mecha chassis hahaha it was not fire rate and damage but things like armor, mobility, strength, etc you said people naturally use the fermi method without realizing but i even used quick pointing naturally lolll great video
I highly recommend to read this article - www.gamedeveloper.com/design/design-101-balancing-games and other articles from Dan Felder...he worked on Heartstone, Legends of Runtera, Faeria

What are some other techniques for balancing a game. For example, how does one try to balance a card game like magic the gathering or slay the spire?
