On 08/10/17 I flew from London Heathrow to Tel Aviv with EL AL's first Boeing 787-9, 4X-EDA ( 1 MONTH OLD !!! ).

Interesting to hear applause on landing. You often get this on landing back in Ireland particularly on returning holiday flights, but I haven't heard it much elsewhere. I think its nice, a sort of 'thanks for getting me home safely' to pilot and crew.
Its a tradition on Elal especially on flights landing in Israel
Hey, thanks for watching! Israelis almost always clap when the plane is touching down, and sometimes even during take off :)
I'm subed to a former Air Berlin co pilot (Captain Joe), and he talked about landing applause. I guess this happens in a lot of places.
I Eastern Europe it's also a tradition to clap for the crew at end of flight.

El Al also ordered the 787-8 and they may send them to YYZ to compete with Air Canada 787. Also on this route El Al is competing with British Airways and do you think you have to pay for the food on this route with British Airways? I think yes.

Awesome trip report! Liked and subbed. You had a beautiful wing view. The cabin looks fresh and clean. The IFE sceen was large, it looks really new

LOL cookies for desert? This is now the other bad thing they picked up from cheap US airlines. They used to serve very nice deserts; baklava etc. Very disappointing.

This trip on this plane was stunning. I had the vegan meal, it was nice. The El Al security and crew were excellent. I would recommend this flight.

I don't really think so..
I haven't flown El Al but personally feel there cleary is less shoulder room on 787 (QR DY BA etc) comparing to 350 (QR AY), both with the 3-3-3 configuration. The leg room is an other thing naturally.
787 was designed by Boeing for 2-4-2, but most airlines are greedy and go for 3-3-3 instead. That is why you are correct to feel there is less shoulder room, because the seats are naturally narrower in 3-3-3 configuration than 8-abreast.
Shoulder room is less the airplane and more the airline. Also the 350 competes more with the 777, not 787. 787 is smaller than A350 so naturally less room.
How often are those screens disinfected?
That is not true, the seat you set in your flight was the lowest class in that plane, the business class is in the left side of the aircraft

אני טס בחודש יוני השנה לניו יורק עם ה B787 ובאמת הסתקרנתי איך המטוס עם הוא צפוף כמו המטוסים האירופאים או מרווח כמו שעד היום היו המטוסים שלהם והסירטון הזה בהחלטמראה שהם עדיין ממשיכים לשמור על מרווח לרגליים ובכללי הוא נראה מדהים המטוס.

Nice video thanks! Any footage of the bulkhead seats in premium economy? Im flying in two weeks and want to know if the bulk head leg room is better than the legroom in standard premium econ.

I think that the meals look really good compared to some that i have seen and its a nice gesture to place pillows ,blankets and speakers on the seats but are these economy seats?

Why does elal always try and stuff as many people as possible into such a small space - their leg room is the worst
the legroom onboard the elal flights is bigger than the legroom on most airlines today.

The 787 is SO BEAUTIFUL
They need to step up their meals, the food looks unappetizing. My guess is El AL has little competition flying to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem from Europe. Yes, I know El AL is known for their safety, but most airlines are stepping up their meal service. El AL can do better.
shihlin1 I don’t understand your comment. Most European airlines fly between Europe and Israel. The major airlines like British and Lufthansa, as well as the low cost Ryanair and Wow. The food is ok on El Al, the same as the other big airlines. Not gourmet, but not poison either!

Eli K I fly on that route every year. Just wear comfortable clothes and shoes. And a little secret - if you go to the galley in between the meals, they have boxes of little cakes/cookies/sweets that you can take for free.

You cant imagine the joy I felt when I seen the plane for Israel man was amazing .just had 5 hours and I was there.Its the only place worth visiting and getting on a plane for.

Very nice cabin fittings, but 3-3-3 is abysmal on 787. El Al should have used what Boeing designed the plane for instead of going greedy.
El Al still offer 32" legroom which is great unlike British at 31." Wow newspapers? nice headphones too.
A little generous, but JAL and Korean Air and Singapore are all offering 33"+.
Good to know. 33" is great. South African A330-600 also. Helps on a 14 hour flight.

Very few airlines still have a First Class, but those that do are phasing them out over the next few years. Most have Business Class as their top product.
The 787-9 might not have a first class but it does have a business class which looks great.

always judge an airline by the quality of food compared to the price you paid for the flight - on that basis EL-AL is not great made even worse by the cheapness of the other airlines which serve Israel - Easyjet is the best value.
revol148 I think el al is great, it’s one of the only airlines that go to Israel with entertainment and food included especially from London as most low cost airlines consider 5 1/2 hours short
@@amberfierstein1294 El Al flies from better airports, has more leg room, free food and on board entertainment - but this all comes at a price.For long haul 12+ hours I need some comfort but for 5-6 hours I'm happy with budget airlines.It all comes down to price v comfort.

How secure is it to fly with EL AL aren't they a target for terror attacks
Probably the best airline in terms of the security.
I think El Al is not the only airline in that situation. Every airlines seems to be.
They are by far the most secure airline, and the only time one of their planes was hijacked was back in 1968.
That is true, but be forewarned they are a prime missile target when overflying many nations.
Yet they have quite a few missile defense countermeasures installed. Flight Guard, C-MUSIC and others.
