- I have a street dog that lives on our yard.
And to help keep him warm during the winter months, I decided to build him a winter dog house.
Now he is a happy warm pet.

Easy DIY Winter Doghouse
U need to airgap all the walls, roof, & floor. And make it where air will ciculate around the whole thing pumping warm air all around it. The extra room is neat to save energy to keep the doghouse warmer, os like the extra room at Aldi to keep the cold air out. Use 2 plastic things that seal themselfs back at the 2 dog doors or entrances to keep out cold air. It was strange that you had an airgap between the walls, why did u do that. Or did u inyentionally add the air gaps. What would be even warmer if the doghouse was designed like this using warmer brick.
@@myronhelton4441 If an intelligent man like yourself gets absolutely befuddled by a dog house build then how can we simple mortals comprehend your insightful comments. Would you be so kind as to show us how to do this correctly on your own video kind sir? Be sure to dumb it down for the rest of us. Have a wonderful day Myyyron.
Can you make a list of dimensions?
What about dimensions
What a fantastic design. If any snow gets in it will be kept out of the main sleeping area. Simple but one of those thoughts that I've never think of. Appreciate the video
I love the inspector😊 good cavities to spray foam insulation. A 100w incandesant bulb should be all thats needed for heat. I love this build, im gonna keep track of it thanks😊
Thank you, very well shown. The only things I would add, are the floor and roof insulation. The house would lose heat through the roof easily. The second insulation is a floor one, humidity would rise via the wood makes the floor damp.
Do you think that just putting insulation in the roof and floor would be fine? Or would it be better to just put it in the walls?
What would you recommend to use for it?
Hi, Styrofoam (extruded polystyrene foam (XPS)) for the floor 5 cm thick or more, the roof 3 cm thick. It is light, easy to cut and very warm and does not absorb water. The only minus thing is, that a dog should not have access to it, so a thin layer of plywood 3mm, should separate a dog from it. It could be glued or screwed across to roof wood.
I said "add" 🙂
@@elizabethharris1157 thank you ☺️
Great job! Now that's love.
Pretty good work. Although I’d like to mention that the area that the dog will be laying in is small. Also, instead of predrilling holes you can measure from the outside where the stud will be and drill the plywood into it. Adds for the integrity of the build. However, love to see this build. Definitely gave me the idea that I should build my own!
Great job! Very inspiring.
can you make a in depth video on this? tools required cut lenght etc...
He will be a warm cozy dog now or she. Lol
That’s great good job!
надо было во всю ширину вольера делать конуру.и собаке было бы
больше спальное место
What I want to know is where you got your caterpillar power tools and if they will compare or beat DeWalt which is very hard to do.
Did you add that insulating foam or just left the walls like that?
I think he did . When he does the roof at the begining it's hollow and after that it's filled ... but it might be just wood ... 🤷♀️
perfect! 💖💖
What's the dimensions of the dog house? I'm looking to do this too.
What bree of dog is that , and do they hunt ?
No fireplace?? 😢 Poor puppy will be cold!
This is it
how do i keep my dogs from biting holes in their houses?
That is really nice but isnt it too small for that large dog?
You don't want to give "too much" space. The smaller the area the better their body can heat.
Nice, but it would be more helpful if he gave the dimension of the house he built. Even if someone's dog is a different breed
seems like cubit meter
are those 2x4s
Just curious why paint the bottom?
Or are you coating it with something ?
It looks like bitmumen type waterproof membrane. The membrane is to ensure once the dog house makes contact with the ground it will help stop damp moisture rising underneath and to extend the life of the house from further deterioration.
This is absolutely brilliant but I need context that explains each step in detail. Do you have a list of what is needed and step by step instructions on how to put it together? 🤞 With 4 large dogs and 1 Ayam Cemani Rooster outside and 2 elderly parents inside, I could really use a little extra guidance. Merry Christmas, hope to hear back from you soon. Thanks!
Let me know if you figure out! I’m trying to build one for my mastiff
@@platinumbullykennels2660 Since there doesn't seem to be a plan, I guess you would have to size it yourself. If you Google 'how to size doghouse' it gives tips on the measurements to use. You need your breed of dog's adult dimensions to work out how much space to give it, and then you proceed as he did in the video. It looks like he uses 2x1 planks and 1/2" plywood?
Is it not a bit small?
Dommage de ne pas avoir isolées les parois !!!
Why not keep your dog inside when it's cold. Just wondering
Think about all the reason an "outside dog" is an outside dog. He/she can't be an inside dog for whatever reason. These reasons don't change just because it's cold out. In the country this is a regular practice.
Avresti dovuto coibentarla sia sopra che sotto e in più dove sta la porta. Ciao
Cost?
I need to make something similar for my dog 🐶
Hi
What did you paint the bottom with?
What is that black paint?
bituminous mastic
😂

00:54 Did'nt you forgot insulation?
The fact that the side panels are hollow means there is a naturally insulating layer of air there. The same effect works wonders with double-paned glass.
Several people have asked for specific dimensions/plans. Looks like we are not going to get an answer. Anyone else out the be so kind to share the above information?
Well done this is a good idea should everyone follow, not looks good when you keep dog inside house. Hygiene is problem, smell not good, no problem to keep them outside.
Too small thats a hamster house
😂
Too small
No insulation? No heated floor? 😢 Poor puppy will be cold!
Shut up
Heated floor? Spoiled ass dog
The insulation is the cavity between the panels. Modern insulation may be better but just as a porch keeps cold air contained from reaching the main house a cavity wall is a low budget means of trapping and warming air to act as a buffer to keep the interior warm by reducing heat loss in a buffering partition. The floor is the same and the dogs own heat will be what heats the interior.
Granted heating and insulation would be more efficient but not everyone has a budget to develop such houses.
I feel bad for the dog house so small and does not look convertible bad owner cheap broke guy😂😂
Wish your pupper lived inside your house 🤨😡
