    Easy DIY Winter Doghouse

    • @myronhelton4441
      @myronhelton4441 Год назад

      U need to airgap all the walls, roof, & floor. And make it where air will ciculate around the whole thing pumping warm air all around it. The extra room is neat to save energy to keep the doghouse warmer, os like the extra room at Aldi to keep the cold air out. Use 2 plastic things that seal themselfs back at the 2 dog doors or entrances to keep out cold air. It was strange that you had an airgap between the walls, why did u do that. Or did u inyentionally add the air gaps. What would be even warmer if the doghouse was designed like this using warmer brick.

Would you be so kind as to show us how to do this correctly on your own video kind sir? Be sure to dumb it down for the rest of us. Have a wonderful day Myyyron.

    I love the inspector😊 good cavities to spray foam insulation. A 100w incandesant bulb should be all thats needed for heat. I love this build, im gonna keep track of it thanks😊

    Thank you, very well shown. The only things I would add, are the floor and roof insulation. The house would lose heat through the roof easily. The second insulation is a floor one, humidity would rise via the wood makes the floor damp.

    • @Richcatwithstacks

      Do you think that just putting insulation in the roof and floor would be fine? Or would it be better to just put it in the walls?

      What would you recommend to use for it?

    • @elizabethharris1157
      @elizabethharris1157 6 месяцев назад +3

      Hi, Styrofoam (extruded polystyrene foam (XPS)) for the floor 5 cm thick or more, the roof 3 cm thick. It is light, easy to cut and very warm and does not absorb water. The only minus thing is, that a dog should not have access to it, so a thin layer of plywood 3mm, should separate a dog from it. It could be glued or screwed across to roof wood.

    Pretty good work. Although I’d like to mention that the area that the dog will be laying in is small. Also, instead of predrilling holes you can measure from the outside where the stud will be and drill the plywood into it. Adds for the integrity of the build. However, love to see this build. Definitely gave me the idea that I should build my own!

      It looks like bitmumen type waterproof membrane. The membrane is to ensure once the dog house makes contact with the ground it will help stop damp moisture rising underneath and to extend the life of the house from further deterioration.

    This is absolutely brilliant but I need context that explains each step in detail. Do you have a list of what is needed and step by step instructions on how to put it together? 🤞 With 4 large dogs and 1 Ayam Cemani Rooster outside and 2 elderly parents inside, I could really use a little extra guidance. Merry Christmas, hope to hear back from you soon. Thanks!

      @@platinumbullykennels2660 Since there doesn't seem to be a plan, I guess you would have to size it yourself. If you Google 'how to size doghouse' it gives tips on the measurements to use. You need your breed of dog's adult dimensions to work out how much space to give it, and then you proceed as he did in the video. It looks like he uses 2x1 planks and 1/2" plywood?

    • @jessie.skelton136
      @jessie.skelton136 2 месяца назад

      Think about all the reason an "outside dog" is an outside dog. He/she can't be an inside dog for whatever reason. These reasons don't change just because it's cold out. In the country this is a regular practice.

      The fact that the side panels are hollow means there is a naturally insulating layer of air there. The same effect works wonders with double-paned glass.

    • @davfree9732
      @davfree9732 3 месяца назад +8

      The insulation is the cavity between the panels. Modern insulation may be better but just as a porch keeps cold air contained from reaching the main house a cavity wall is a low budget means of trapping and warming air to act as a buffer to keep the interior warm by reducing heat loss in a buffering partition. The floor is the same and the dogs own heat will be what heats the interior.
      Granted heating and insulation would be more efficient but not everyone has a budget to develop such houses.
