I may have hated on him for coming up with Super, but he still created the legendary show that was my childhood Dragonball was part of my life since i was 4, coming up with Super won't make me forget that, it was the reason both my mind and body are healthier. He was an amazing artist, despite him joking about being lazy all the times. A lot of the plot in the manga happened because he kept trying to find ways to save on linework, just for his art to become more and more detailed every arc. Drawing Dragon Ball in middle school was the start of my decision in becoming an art student in college, and Its also the reason i work out to stay healthy. If it wasn't for him, I would probably never grew an interest for drawing and art as a whole. He, and his work, introduced me to this field; it saved me from a rough place back in middle school... now I've built my whole life around studio arts because of him. Even if i don't make it in the field with how brutal the industry is, i don't regret my choice. I learned so many wonderful things in college, and finally found a direction for the future. This man literally changed my life with his one work. I feel devastated, i slandered him so much for making Super, but I wouldn't be here if my younger self didn't just randomly decided to sketch Goku that one day in middle school. I know know how to make art in multiple mediums, from painting to sculpting. Even if i don't make it in the field i don't regret learning all these wonderful things. Rest in peace king, and thank you for everything. Akira Toriyama, you were the champion. You were number one.

When I was 4 all the way through 7, our national channel dubbed DB Z and I wasn't really into it because it was a poorly made dub where you would hear the japanese voices talking while the trasnlation was over it, sort of like doing live translation on a news channel. Few years later I got a moded PS2 and had Dragonball Budokai Tenkaichi 3 on a DVD. I played the hell out of that game with my friends in splitscreen, we still do sometimes on the same PS2. I was loving it and I wanted to see the entire story of DB and DB Z. In 2019 as my wife was pregnant we binged the entire DB and DB Z in about 2 months. I was amazed of the great story and the amount of work it took going back and forth with the recasting of the show in the US from the 80s all the way to the 90s. I am glad it got popular in the US so a lot more of the world could enjoy it. It's one of the few animes I prefer to watch in English rather than Japanese. It will always be a gold tier achievement to have a series that has inspired so many spin-offs and video games over nearly half a century and I bet it will keep on going. RIP Akira Toriyama, you have made the world a better place and for that I thank you!

If it wasn’t for Toryiama and his creation I probably wouldn’t have gone on the fitness journey I did to become stronger and healthier. I still remember my start at the gym just listening to Cells theme while envisioning myself as my best self. I still listen to the themes to hype myself up, never fails to do so.
He inspired me to write, to be an artist, to create stories of my own. I can’t say enough good things about the man and the legacy he has left behind…Super might not be his greatest work, and I do have my issues with it. But it doesn’t undo the impact he made, nor the millions he inspired including myself. Rest in peace Toryiama, I hope to one day release a work of art which impacts many as much as Dragon Ball has.

I could never get past the episode long power up until I discovered that the kamehameha wave was spelled and pronounced just like the first Hawaiian king Kamehameha. That’s when I wanted to know everything about dragon ball. RIP

Very similarly first time I was introduced to Dragon Ball was when my uncle booted up the Burst Limit demo on our ps3. I instantly loved the style, the aura, the gameplay it was all there. I think Naruto was my actual first anime but DB video games were very special to me alongside with the original Dragon Ball before Z since that was my first anime I ever completed and still consider perfect from beginning to ending. RIP to Akira Toriyama.
