60163 'Tornado' Heads To The SVR - The Severn Valley Venturer - 2016

A1 Class 'Tornado' heads a Severn Valley Railway bound excursion out of London Victoria. The Peppercorn designed loco would head out via the GWML & The Chiltern Line, before weaving it's way through Birmingham, before arriving at Kidderminster, where it would then join the iconic preserved railway.
The action begins at Appleford, where 60163 powers through the Oxfordshire plains while looking rather nice in the early morning sunshine which showcased it's lovely apple green livery. Just a few hundred yards out of screen we pick up the A1 sweeping round the long curve towards Culham Station, two angles capture the passing.
Having now passed ahead of the train at Banbury, we next catch the loco at Hatton Station as it heads out of the goods loop. More great sunshine would provide the backdrop. There should of been another shot further up the line, but unfortunately the shot had to be scrapped due to my internal lens hood not closing correctly and impeding the visual sight !
The main highlight for me would be the the climb of Eardington Bank on the SVR, where we capture the class 8 four times on it's way up the hill towards Bridgnorth. This topped off what was a great day chasing steam and even with the failure of the return leg loco 'Taw Valley' which was set to haul the excursion back to Bewdley, this did nothing to take away from another excellent run from the ever reliable 'Tornado' and UK Railtours !

Crisply put together as usual Liam ... great sequences and detail. They did a magnificent job of building that locomotive ... especially when you see how relatively "clean" she appears to run. Modern day masterpiece of engineering on a yesteryear ethos.
