Man it’s been a while since I watched your videos and it feels like I’m talking to an old friend lol. Been watching since 2019 and purchased as CV mustang and a CV jaguar thanks to your informative videos. I also bought the 40th anniversary jazzmaster yesterday thankfully it doesnt have the issues that the guitar in this video has
I'm glad you're back on the channel 😁💯 That's a mighty fine collection, all awesome guitars. Yes I was a bit unfortunate with this one, I did purchase an identical model a week later with better QC 🎸😎
@@theguitarmanifesto yeah man thanks to your channel majority of the guitars i bought since 2019 were squiers. Got the 40th anniv squier gold edition in black and the CV 50's strat in fiesta red. So good to see you're still pumping out videos in 2024. Keep em coming!
@miguelfrias2650 thanks dude I'm still trying to spread the good word and pissing off cork sniffers along the way 🤘🤣 them 40th anniversary Jazzmasters are so cool, check out the budget guitar rig video I made not long after this, I was jamming my Jazzmaster with a new drummer!
I've noticed many guitars from the covid-era, especially Squiers and Epiphones, had terrible quality control. They were probably rushing them out like crazy to meet the increased demand.
This Squier 40th Anniversary is clearly pre-owned. You can still find a good American model but they are hit and miss. You may have to do a couple returns until you're happy but Fender is good about that. A Friend had to go through multiple returns and complained to a manager. Fender told him to keep the last instrument they sent him and refunded his money (Free Guitar). if you want an immaculate Fender buy a MIJ from Ishibashi or Kinkomusic.
I got halfway into this video, selfishly wondering from seeing the title if you had a any issues with the bridge. Namely an issue where the high-e slacks off and then snaps at the bridge end! I feel awful for saying it, but thank goodness someone else out there has this issue too! I'm glad you got a fix for it (even temporarily). :) I've got a Squier Deluxe Jazzmaster from ebay back in 2018ish (pre-covid, but not sure entirely), and I've tried all kinds of things, reinforced strings, soldered ends, the works, and never had any luck getting strings to last. Took it into a guitar shop, they fitted the string, handed it back to me and looked at me like I was an idiot... so only this year I've had the courage to restring it... and I'm down three high-e strings. Seeing your video, it's exactly the same issue I've had, thank you for making me feel less insane for being unable to fit one string on a guitar! :) I've had offsets and never once had the issue, so was even thinking of selling it as "for parts" or something! :/ I might have to persevere and get a bridge like you have! :) Seeing as it's helped yours be a 6 string again, it's worth a shot. :) Thanks again, and good luck with the band, and this guitar! The colour looks so great against the gold!
Awesome glad the video helped you out, this is a mixture of the bridge having some issues and the bone nut hasn't been filed correctly. The deluxe Jazzmaster is my favourite squier along with J Mascis Jazzmaster which is basically the same guitar. Try a Gotoh tuneomatic bridge for you Jazzmaster, they're awesome 👌
The best bridge I found (had a bridge issue too) is the Fender Japan mustang bridge, it is 25$ on eBay or Amazon and also has the added adjustability of individual saddle height adjustment similar to a Tele put with the same style barrel saddles as the original bridge.
@@theguitarmanifesto thank you, I'm really hoping to get it playable, and had given up in all honesty (not really knowing if a part would help before buying and drilling put me off) :) It is a fun guitar, really like how it sounds plugged in! :) I am looking forward to getting into ordering another bridge - hopefully I can find a tuneomatic or a mustang bridge :) thanks again!
I just picked up some fender 65 pick ups for my jazzmaster. So saturday arvo evening here in oz is pull my jay mascis apart and change pick ups and strings etc and also my aussie rules team is playing saturday night so all of saturday is in the cave happy days
Loved this video! 😀👍🏻 I have the Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster in vintage white, with gold anodized pickguard. Probably the best Jazzmaster Squier has ever produced. I absolutely love it. Fit and finish is excellent. The price is very high for a Squier, but the build quality is as good as a MIM, probably better 👍🏻
another reason the high e pops alot is the screw right where you put the strings thru either shave it down with sandpaper or can remove the tremolo and just flip the screw upside down. I had the same issue i just flip the screw
Thoroughly enjoyed this one Rob 👌. Havent got much experience with setting up a jazzmaster myself, only have one. I had the same shite happening to me whilst setting it up 😂😂😂. I still have an annoying clicky sound on the trem. 'they' say you need to upgrade to a fender trem. Not too convinced by that. Up untill now the trem system I like the most is the Les Trem II with a tuneomatic which I installed on a Starcaster. Keep on rockin! 🎸🎸🎸
@@theguitarmanifesto Thanks. I'm just a home hobby player that never plays out or records. All rights and credit are belong to you. I like how it sounds so I just want to learn it for personal enjoyment. Cheers!
Bought a 21 made white/gold 40th anniversary never had a bit of bother with it fitted Roto flats 12/52 with the frets being narrow tall. Must have been a Wednesday guitar or just lucky 🤷🏼♂️ great channel, thanks.
I'm getting to the point where I want to buy myself a better guitar. But I'm so shocked by the QA on the big brands like Gibson, Fender etc... You pay over a grand for a guitar like an SG that needs work, it's ridiculous. I'll probably go old skool and just try a load out at a few shops instead of mail order.
@user-qd9mm5mt4i I've had 100s of Fenders and Squiers over the last 30 years, I still wouldn't say on average the Squiers are heavier. If I'm honest I prefer heavier guitars 👌

I've absolutely no idea what screw you're talking about 🤣 besides it was the nut slot not cut correctly that was causing the issue on my one.

Beside de problems these guitars coming out, they are very good especially squire guitars... In my opinion
Ps and that one it's a beauty
It may have been a one off faulty one out of the factory.

The J mascis for the Jumbo frets and awesome sounding pickups

Yeah they're not brilliant nowadays, look for a good used model and save yourself a few £££s
Put 5 way switch k
On it push push
These Squiers always weigh a lot more than very good old Fender models.
I wouldn't agree with that statement, I've had some darn heavy Fenders in my time!
@@theguitarmanifesto recent Squiers I've played seem heavy compared to the same Fender counterparts.
