A great look at things as always Mike! And yes, the brown circles on the urban maps are sewer entrances.

Oh this takes me back to the initial SL in '77, what a rush! I didn't think I'd want to play this, but after seeing it...

You know, I was just looking more closely at one of the factory maps from this scenario, and it looks oddly familiar for some reason, which might be connected to your comment? Not sure. :)

@@ZillaBlitz Oh it should be more than oddly familiar. There is a little designer note about it in the book ;)

Hahaha! Too funny! I haven't seen that map for 30 years, and it's apparently burned into my memory. Way too cool! I wish I caught that before shooting the video. I'll have to mention it if I get some gameplay going with that map. :)

I'm excited to dig into a tactical system, for sure. I bet I make a good bit of mistakes at the beginning though. :)

I've looked at the LNL tactical game for years, but never really pulled the trigger.
Over the past few days I've been researching once more, just as you upload 2 videos on the system!
Thanks! Probably persuaded me to look further into it once again haha

I'm curious to know how it compares to Advanced Squad Leader because the price tag on that game is quite substantial and these look to be a similar system.

      Random replies...
~ I've been looking at the system for a while, too, and am happy to have the opportunity to dig into it.
~ I don't know enough to be able to talk about the differences between LNLT and ASL, other than to say that I've heard solid things about both systems, and both systems are mature, well developed tactical combat systems.
~ I do think the recommendation to try the digital version is a good path for giving the system a look. The core version on Steam is usually really cheap when there is a Steam sale, and I think the gameplay is a good representation of what the tabletop gameplay is like.

Wow, those maps are the same as ASL boards 1 and 3. They have changed some details but they are the same layout of roads, hill, and buildings.

Nice catch! There is a discussion in the comments down below, and as I was editing the video last night I was looking at it and saying to myself, "Wow, I feel like I've seen this map before somewhere..." That was like 30 years ago in SL. :)

I still think that character art looks like Mark McGwire lol. I don't think those units are eager to get going to Stalingrad but they look eager to get going somewhere lol. These maps remind me of ASL. I haven't looked too much into the system but is it similar to ASL?

I hesitate to compare systems too much, as I'm mainly new to both. I haven't played ASL since its SL days, except for some dabbling in the ASLSK. And I'm just starting on exploring the LNTL system. From what I've heard they are similar in that they both cover tactical combat at the same level, and both are mature, well supported systems. I've heard very good things about both. One big difference, I suppose, between the two systems is that LNLT has a massive digital option on Steam, so trying it out there can be an easy way to give the system a look if you like digital gaming.

I played Squad Leader back in the day. Strong similarities. I play the digital version and and have found it to be the best WW2 tactical game I ve played.

I am thinking I'll be checking out the digital versions at some point too, in many ways to help learn the system as well. :) Glad you are enjoying them!
