This bus actually does fit 131 people 100 seats 31 standing during the rush hour
Some nice features like the skylights which were fitted to the Edinburgh Corporation Atlanteans, the Boris bus lighting and the return of the Crest on the lower panels. Looks quite classy although Edinburgh Corporation and Lothian have always had a smart fleet.
These buses are wonderful and so is the city and that's why I'm making my 2nd trip this coming Sunday to explore further.
I love how warm and comfortable it looks on the inside! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It sure is!
2:54 I like what I'd call small carrier bag racks there.
I went on 3 of these in Edinburgh on Monday 11th (first trip to Scotland) and the best seats are at the very front and very back! They take off fantastic for a tri-axle as well. Very quiet engine too!!!
They are really nice and comfortable 😁
Wow this bus (13.8m) is even longer than our longest double decker bus (12.8m) in Hong Kong!
I was thinking that too, the next logical customer for these buses is likely going to be Hong Kong, as buses that big will only work on select bus routes here in the UK, out where I live even short single deckers have trouble negotiating some roads here. People parking too near or on junctions doesn't help matters either.
sir please stop copyrighting my comment. i post that first
@@germani69 Umm... are you mentioning me or insanitybiker? Never mind!
No longer than the average 3 axle coach is and they navigate Edinburgh just fine....
Heh heh heh...Not as long as the articulated buses in the U.S. here. We have 18m (60 feet).
Very smart looking buses and i love the colours.
The B8L is very quiet both inside and outside, amazing
Apart from when it goes over bumps.
woah, this bus is cool
Handsome buses, I like the glazed stairway that links the bottom and top floors. I always thought that the Lothian colour scheme was quite classy!
Classy indeed! The colours are real easy on the eyes 👍🏻
Excellent video mate!
Fantastic buses. Really comfortable.
Indeed!
Excellent news! I actually live near the road in the first few pictures, and use bus 11 & 16 mostly. I was wondering when they were going to replace those buses. They were getting a wee bit old compared to what was on other lines. So these still run on fuel? But I suppose they have the stop & start system at stops.
You filmed my door! Love these new buses.
Hope they will continue to serve you well!
glitchFan2428 I hope they do! These are revoluationary
In Brasil buses are used of 15 meter with four axles.
They seem to be very balanced on the road.
Newest versions are 8x4
Are they double deckers?
Description: these buses are volvo b8l with enviro400 bodywork
Me: *confused screaming*
MTA And NJ Transit need these!!!
Much better than those BYD rubbish
This baby is majestic
Wow two days that is so cool to
Coming to a Megabus / Oxford Tube service near you soon no doubt. Possibly National Express but their routes are never that full.
Great video. ☺
Thanks!
@@glitchFan2428 Ur welcome. ☺
Nice!
No takeaway food boxes on the floor and seats? Oh I forgot, this isn't London.
Imagine in future they get 13.8m B8L with WEG3 bodywork... That will be epic
Hmm not sure if the gemini 3 body is available in that length but it doesn't hurt to dream.
Now that would make a nice skoolie.
Haha glad someone thinking the same thing :P
I'd wait till hybrid buses come down in price.. Be nice to move a bus about / have a nice big battery without using the diesel engine, really opens up some more possibilities
But also I'm on the soddit side where I'd just get a plaxton president, and be done with it :P
@0:47 - good to know the bus driver was confident enough to only use one hand !
most large vehicles have a handle on the streering wheel, so they can be controlled with one hand, this then frees up the other hand to change gears, as normally there is at least 8 gears on a veihcle this size.
@@binarysignals9593 this is an automatic ZF
Those are some long 400 MMCs
A lovely peice of engineering
Indeed! A world's first I believe.
They should 'trial' these in London on a few busy routes...!!! 🤔💭😁🔝👍
I think they are to big for London as there is always traffic and tight turns.
@@thefulldeodorantcan3347 ...we have a tri axle at camberwell on trial...its not as good as these but hopefully we could get an enviro 400 xlb
@@DoubleDeckerAnton if you do get it, please do a video on it.
I believe as of now there is only one tri axle bus on revenue service in London? Go-ahead TA1 on the 12 if I'm not wrong.
@@thefulldeodorantcan3347 Edinburgh is a pretty narrow compact city as well so they would probably be fine.
The skylight roof on the upper deck is a good idea. Allowing sunlight to enter and brighten up the upper deck and giving a relaxed feel.
Yup, most of their buses do in fact have a sunroof of some sorts. Really cool
Isn't the skylight some form of safety feature?
Verlos en México sería un sueño imposible de realizar porque han de ser carísimos, ¡¡Lástima!!
Wow verry good how long have they had them... In Bristol there are over 40 of them and we havehad them for almosy 2 months... Some are the smaller models tho and have a Normal/small sign on the back and not the new long ones
In all fairness I’m led to believe that Bristol has some of the best buses in the country haha. The wright streetdecks are my favourite but the M1 metro us looks great with the window staircase!
Where I live most buses you see are stagecoach and Bedford bus buses Bedford bus is like stagecoach but they just say Bedford bus on them
Lovely buses
What a pity !
We don't have these buses in London !
Patrick Banks Too Right Mate....Too Right🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️.
I wish these operated in Kent (even tho we have London buses and some of those buses where u phone up and book a ride (not dial & ride) And sometimes even Arriva (blue ones not arriva London) ones
I feel like this bus would make more sense to be apart of the Enviro 500 series rather than the Enviro 400 series as this bus (i believe) has three axles which the E500 has, while the all other E400 buses are twin-axle, this is just my opinion btw lol
Woooooooooooooooh
In Hong Kong there are many double deckers and more than 100 seats.
I was in Edinburgh one week ago and didn't think theses buses were totally new
Ervini the interested person there 19 reg
100 seats❕❗️
It appears that Mitsubishi Fuso Aero King is less than 60 seats.
I surprised❕❗️

Who agrees that Singapore should have this kind of cool buses?
RaxDen YT I dont agree tbh, they are a work of scotland engineering and should remain in scotland.
@@edinburghtransport7604 why? SG should have, later you jealous?
RaxDen YT not jealous, just saying it should remain in scotland as it was made here. people who dont even like buses appreciate these ones. in singapore, no one would care. next time dont jump to conclusions thanks.
EdinburghTransport why would you say that no one would care? It’s kind of rude for you to say that we don’t love our busses here.

These look great. But the council still wants trams ! Who really needs to go to Newhaven in a tram ! Nonetheless fabulous buses. Wish they had these in Surrey where I now live.
Wow 3 axle Alexander Dennis Enviro 400MMC
It reminds me of the movie...the big bus...
I assume this has a ZF Ecolife transmission??
Most likely yes
Singapore and HK markets should get this bodywork for their 12m counterparts. The current version for SG and HK are just old bodywork plastered with a new face
Yeah the option should definitely be explored
Our buses in Hong Kong are only 12m in length, but the longest one is 12.8m, still shorter than this bus in London!
No problem, they can make a 12m version, my point is the assembly and the overseas version of the bodywork is a cut-down version of the original UK part.
Londres, Singapur y Hong Kong es donde existen estos buses Double Decker para transporte urbano
@@KinsonStudio these buses run outside of london
Edinburgh: wow that's new
Victoria, Canada: we had those twenty years ago... something new would be cool to see.
You had the newly developed Enviro400XLB buses 20 years ago? Remarkable.
@Quick Rewards the engines in the buses 20 years ago were much better than these ;-)
This Volvo B8L is actually look like E500 MMC Facelift body, eventually. I wonder Hong Kong KMB should use this Volvo B8L with E500 MMC Facelift body as known as E400XLB, but unfortunately, Hong Kong KMB use Volvo B8L 12.8m with MCV Bodied instead.
hong kong have 137 seat bus
You're in Edinburgh now? I was there in '85.
I was there last week, am back in Singapore currently.
Singapore cannot have 13m Enviro500 three doors but chose for custom 12.5m three doors deckers instead
Its weird
This bus is almost the same length as the MAN A95 (SG5999Z = 12.8m which a meter shorter than the E400 XLB). And the bus able to have 100 Seats while we only had about 40 to 50 seats...
I think it is attributed to the wheelchair access areas. The ground floor of our buses can have 2 wheel chair users or strollers.
SG5999Z has 74 permanent seats, with potential seats sacrificed for the wheelchair bays as well as the second staircase at the rear.
Also at 1:41 on FH4 that is a street in the game

Were you here (in Edinburgh) in April when Lothian Buses brought out their collection of vintage buses to operate the service on Route 5, for a day?
So coaches and buses are now equal length
Nice bus
Lothian Buses look really smart and attractive in the interiors. TfL should take note and start investing more in the London bus system rather than downgrading routes and bus prioritisation in the roads!
Seeing how busy some routes get (please do bear in mind the fact that i only know this because of yt videos and the nearest to London I’ve been is Berwick-upon-tweed), i feel that Alexander Dennis should ship a couple down

Hello HK

and have 15m bus
There you are Glitchfan, even a shabby country like Scotland can produce a few hidden gems of its own. This type of bus is more suited to Hong Kong as it would fit in nicely with the lovely bits of kit out there.
Haha I think Scotland is lovely! I guess I just like to escape the city, which is something I can't do back in Singapore but here it's just a stone's throw away from edinburgh old town.
@@glitchFan2428 I'm glad you think so. Buses like that stand out like a sore thumb because they are just odd to be in an old rundown city like Edinburgh when they can be put to better use in a better climate with similar buses of its type. I'd rather it be in Singapore.
Marc Veldman “rundown town like Edinburgh” have you actually been to Edinburgh?...
@@lc7327 I didn't call it a rundown town.

No, this one is the original version serving UK market. The one designed for SG and HK is "dumbed down" with an uglier upper deck front

I filmed this as a tourist so I'm not too sure about the system as whole, but from my observation it's indeed efficient.
Edinburgh has got a pretty great system on the whole. Has benefitted a lot from keeping it owned and controlled locally, unlike most places in the UK.
Zveebo Edinburgh bus service is first class, modern buses and they seem to have invested a lot of money into the service

is the extra capacity even needed?
At peak times yes
@@RanFire ok
Peak hours can be very full
From experience yes. For certain lines the extra capacity is useful at peak times. Especially during August when it's really rammed. On the outskirts and outside of peak hours the buses are rarely that full but in certain areas they are usually pretty full.
Sad the driver have to sit behind protective barrier. Hong Kong and Singapore just have the driver there with no barrier. What's the point of attacking the driver anyway? Not like there is anything to rob.
Its mostly just drunk people. It's a precaution but it's fairly rare for there to be problems. All buses have cctv and you can be seriously punished for abusing drivers/staff.
Volvo B8L 350hp/1400nm engine
Very nice vehicles, but for new buses they rattle a heck of a lot
Aye the the rails and panels on the staircase rattles a lot especially on bumpy roads.
Id sit upstairs at the front better view
8 liter engine with 350hp/1400nm?
It absolute max I'd say 300hp.. UK buses don't have much power
@Lik Hang Andison IU yeah it's more than I expected, but it's long!
Quite underpowered I would imagine when fully loaded
@@forza223bowe5 it's a double decker, the expectation isn't for it to be quick, there are 12 tonne double deckers around with 250hp.. double deckers aren't high speed vehicles anyway and when fully loaded (with standees) you don't want to accelerate that quick anyway..
@@MichaelFlatman its 350/1556nm of torque. British buses 1980-2010 were very powerful but thanks to stupid emission n fuel operators now have TINY lawnmower engines in most buses, like the b5tl and streetdeck

Cats01 it isn’t in America you know
Yes. It's a bullet proof 'Assualt Screen'. Very handy in dodgy areas.
Its special ned proof glass.
Pretty empty bus. How's it going to pay for itself? The automated voice would drive me nuts.
Its not peak times and as you can see the city isn't that busy. Lothian buses is the largest municipal bus service in the UK and has always been profitable and well run. The buses fill up a lot at peak times and annual ridership is 121 million. Edinburgh isn't a particularly large city with just about 500,000 people.
Though I agree the automated voice is annoying.
Why cant LTA get this kind of buses rather than china ones haiz...

Stupid idea having a sky window on a dbl.deck bus.
Aah! ya funny. Less of the snarky. Its good vid. Whats up wi' ya?
Are 100 seat buses needed? I've never been on a busy double decker in my life!!
I guess you have never travelled on buses at rush hour in London. Always packed
Most U.K. cities can fill a double decker bus, even my local town of 60,000 in the south can get them full on peak services.
hoffwell In Edinburgh yes these are necessary and very busy
At rush hour these are usually standing room only - the old double deckers fairly often hit max capacity and so left passengers unable to get, so they are very much needed. Hopefully more to follow on some other routes!
