  • After my last trip to Hong Kong in 2017, I found I had a lot of video footage of KMB buses, taken all over Kowloon and the New Territories. I used all footage of the few remaining Dennis Condors to give them their own video and had similarly creamed off all the elderly types (Dennis Tridents, early Volvo Super Olympians, Neoplan Centroliners) to put in another video of their own. All the routes using the cross harbour tunnels were put into a dedicated XHT video also featuring Citybus and NWFB, and I was unsure what to do with all the footage that was left over. Three years later, this is the result! KMB's workhorses are seen in typical situations on their home turf, at some of their busiest interchanges and estates, and the clips are organised in route-number order. I've tried to keep the editing as tight as possible in order to reduce the length while cramming in as many of the 280+ clips as I could.
No longer a survey of the current fleet, this is now more of a historic document, illustrating KMB buses when every one of them was painted Champagne Gold (excepting a handful of white Dennis Condors working out their last few weeks in service) in the year before KMB reintroduced red as the main colour for new deliveries. KMB now has several hundreds of all-red buses and the appearance of the fleet is changing dramatically. Nearly all the buses seen here are still working, but the early Enviros and Wright-bodied Super Olympians are themselves entering their twilight years and will soon be no more.
Sorry that all the Diamond Hill buses are filmed indoors - on the day I went there (and to Po Lam and Hang Hau) it absolutely pissed down all day long, but most of the time it was dry and very occasionally it was sunny!
    Thank you for watching.
