    Tearing down houses and small buildings is my favorite 💪

      Yeah I like it too when I’ve got the proper machine to do the job. Unfortunately this job was about 4 miles of paved road and we had to track the machine in so we were kind of stuck with what we had. Thanks for watching Wendell 👍🏻

    One cell site I was PM on removing, our climbers wouldn't climb the tower because it was too overloaded. We made a deal with the tower owner where we would give him the shelter if we could leave the coax and antennas on the tower and were released from liability if anything happened. Saved us a lot of hassle, as the site was on the side of a mountain and had terrible access.

    • @fulltiltgrading8366
      @fulltiltgrading8366  2 года назад

      I have mentioned the same thing on several of these dcom jobs. I always get told the same thing the tower owner doesn’t care about the shelter they just want it off of there leased area. You would think it would be more desirable for a new carrier to come in and lease a fully built site but they keep having us tear them down!
      Thanks for watching George👍🏻

      If I could’ve got it off the top of that mountain in one piece I definitely would have. If you would have seen the trail I had to take it down and then the steel covered bridge at the bottom. Wasn’t possible! LOL
      Thanks for watching Allen 👍🏻

    My dad would say, “She’s built like a brick outhouse!” Most of the time he was talking about a babe who caught his eye… but I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if I used it just this once to describe that building!
    The state ought to hire the concrete contractor to build highways. Then, they wouldn’t be out there ever other year cutting holes and filling them up! My goodness that was overkill to a ridiculous level.
    Good thing you had Ray, or your head would be mush by the time you finished hammering that out.
    Sometimes you look at a job and just have to say, “Good grief!!!”

    • @fulltiltgrading8366
      @fulltiltgrading8366  2 года назад +1

      Yeah there was definitely no good reason to have a foundation that extreme under that building. I have seen for concrete buildings on 12 inch slabs. This building there’s nothing more than fiberglass and metal studs. I had a tour apart in about three hours then spent three days hammering concrete 🙄
      Glad to see you back Dave! Thanks for watching👍🏻

    This must be why are cell phone services cost so much...build something and then tear it down....LOL

    • @fulltiltgrading8366
      @fulltiltgrading8366  2 года назад

      The older cell sites have become so obsolete that the carriers figure it cost them less money to build an entire new job then it does to take the tower off service for three months to build a new one. We actually built the new site on a tower 200 feet away from this one over the summer. There was no downtime or loss of service to the customers I agree looks like a huge waste but I guess it’s the corporate way of thinking! LOL

    Hey Ed
    How are you?
    Great job guys
    Wow!! That slab was built to last forever!!
    I ran into a crazy thick slab last year also reinforced but was only 30 inches not 48
    Took 2 days to bust out when it should have been half a day🤷‍♂️
    Not my idea of fun
    I feel your pain guys

    • @fulltiltgrading8366

      Yeah James when you get into something like that and realize how thick it is you do nothing but worry that you’re going to break down! I was pretty stressed out when I realized what I was up against! Hope you guys are doing OK up there in the north. The trees down here are producing a lot of nuts so I guess that means a hard winter! Seems like you just got done plowing snow not too long ago! LOL

      I have to admit Alex I was a little worried and I told Ray that we had to make this machine last through this job! I called everywhere to try and get another larger machine and had no luck. My worst fear was this thing breaking down in such a remote area. I was impressed that this machine got it done and stayed together!

    Do you have issues hooking up your hydraulic attachment/lines on the Cat? I have a tilt bucket for my 35D and typically have to break a hydraulic line loose and loosen the relieve screws at the “quick”disconnects. I would like to get other hydraulic attachments but the “quick” disconnect couplers aren’t so quick.

    • @fulltiltgrading8366

      You are absolutely 100% right and I tried everybody I could think of to get a larger machine and hammer. I got the same answer everywhere. We are extremely busy and have no more machines to rent! We hammered on this concrete for three full days about 10 to 12 hours a day.

    Damn breaking that concrete looked rough! How do you like that 304? As far as power and everything else?

    • @fulltiltgrading8366
      @fulltiltgrading8366  2 года назад +1

      I think the 304 is the best all-around machine for the type of work I do but I have to say my older E model is much more reliable than the new E2 model. We have a brand new next GEN 303 on the way to replace the E2 model.

    You can never have too much concrete under your buildings. Over the life of that building it probably never moved from frost or hurricanes.

    • @fulltiltgrading8366
      @fulltiltgrading8366  2 года назад

      I agree with having a good foundation but this was just lazy formwork! Instead of forming the pad properly they just filled the entire thing with concrete. I estimate there was 35 to 40 yards of concrete which is a little overkill! Lol

    • @fulltiltgrading8366

      The carriers lease the area from the tower owner so when they move they must remove everything they had in that lease area. It would make more sense to me for the tower company to just lease out the existing site 🤷🏻‍♂️ but what do I know! LOL
