    The Mtr has almost zero delays and interruptions in a busy city. People who have not lived in other countries don't realise how exceptional that is - probably the best transport system in the world!!

      Its also same company that makes a few other large cities MTR. You can get a phone signal in the train. Even through tunnel.

    I just visited this Hong Kong this December 20th and stayed there until 27th. In my whole visit, my main mode of transportation is MTR and I could say that MTR is extremely efficient and one of the best in the world. I never had a bad experience with it. I enjoyed it every time I ride it. The fare is cheap for me but their stations and trains are well-maintained and cleaned.

    The folks who work at the MTR have so much pride in their transit system. This is why it's one of the best subways in the world. My heart broke for them in 2019. So happy to see everything is repaired and back to its world class standard.

    Hong Kong Transport system probably one of the best in the world. From the bus to tram and the mtr of course. The stations are well maintained, interconnected in every part of hong kong, ride is smooth and fast i can easily use my contactless cards. Everytime I went there I make sure i have the nearest mtr where I checked in.

      The Island Line is probably the most intensively used line in the world. 31 trains per hour in the morning peak with 2500+ people per train gives at least 77500 people per hour.
      Most other busy lines in the world have lower frequency and/or smaller trains.

    • @ulysseslee9541
      @ulysseslee9541 18 дней назад

      frequency: train arrive in every 2 mins during rush hour.

    • @trainjedi9651

      It's probably defined in a similar way to per capita statistics. For example, the Shanghai Metro serves somewhere around 10mln passengers every day, more than the MTR. But this is done over 410 stations, compared to the MTR's 99 stations. So while yes, Shanghai serves more people, the average metro station in Hong Kong is significantly busier than the average metro station in Shanghai. (50k/day in HK vs 24k/day in Shanghai)

    Getting up early to prepare rolling stock for safe operation is called work, saying it is 'so professional' for doing your job is kinda weird to say the least, and if preparing train for the operation requires staff to "sacrifice some of their personal life" (if that implies overtime before/after your hours) to conduct pre-operation routine its pure mismanagement. Ofc there are people who loves their jobs to the level of coming early, leaving late without urge for compensation but those are exceptions out of rule

      @greenmagicdragon it’s more about the size of the network and how many trains run, Hong Kong is very small 7 million population (5 million literally is 5/7), serving 98 stations and yet trains come every 3 minutes. Also you would not believe how packed EVERY SINGLE one of those 98 stations are each 3 minute wait. (You would basically going through a mall but everybody goes in 2 directions) New York by comparison is almost empty.
