I've been a wood worker (hobbyist) for 50 years! Gavin, at your age your parents must be very proud of you and you have created nice & unique items that are worthy to create...
@Gavin Lewis: Why didn't I cover up the pink paint? Because the pink makes me smile, simple as. Nobody else sees it when they're on, so I thought what the hell!
My 25yr old Oakley texas tea frogskins with gold iridium lenses would look cool with new wooden frames. The original ones snapped and oakley don't make them any more so this is an awesome fix. I'm a professional luthier so the skills and tools are there all ready to go. Thanks for the idea.
I was just sitting at my local library wallowing in my own sorrow, feeling hopeless about my dream of designing my very own eyewear. I'm a little embarrassed to say the least now after watching you create what you just did. Thanks for the inspiration and motivating me to not let go of my dreams. I've just looked at some of my sketches and I am still clueless on how and where to start but now I will at least start. Thanks and I will email if you don't mind, to get some pointers lol.
Awesome wooden sunglasses Alex! I really enjoyed watching your method of making them. Nice detailed shaping especially with the bridge and the nose pads. Now we need someone to do a steam bending version. lol Thanks for the mention and link. Oh, nice dancing too! :)
Great Project! The only thing I would have done differently would be to not cut as close to the line from the template on the scroll saw, I would have tried to get close, and sand the rest off. I'm gonna try and do this to get ready for the summer. Thanks for sharing!
Just AWESOME! :) I am impressed on so many levels that I don't know where to begin. I hope that you make a business out of this because I would not just be a devoted customer but I would promote you. Excellent work.
Hey Alex, this is really nice work! Ambitious and I was worried that they would break toward the end but you made them perfectly. Been watching you for a few years and you never disappoint :)
This is awesome. Those look very similar to a pair of Glassy sunglasses I was going to buy. I'd love to see a video on the accents if you end up doing them.
Awesome Alex. After breaking dozens of frames I was looking for a wooden frame but couldn't find one in my city. Then thought If I could make one by myself, but don't have much knowledge and tools. After watching your video my desire for wooden sunglasses frame has again caught fire. Can You make one for me?
Nice work Alex, That's pretty fiddly to get right. Sisters can be well handy sometimes, the amount of times i needed fast drying paint for a project and "borrowed" nail varnish :D
coping saw would allow for more accuacy, coping saw is essentially the same saw he used in this video only hand powered. just incase you didnt know. try both out
I can imagine prescription glasses being a lot harder to do, as there are a lot of things to take into account, including centre axis etc. Sorry it didn't work out for you, Alex.

Sunglasses made of wood are original, cool and extraordinarily beautiful !!! Stylish, trendy and elegant.
@Gavin Lewis: Why didn't I cover up the pink paint? Because the pink makes me smile, simple as. Nobody else sees it when they're on, so I thought what the hell!

Beautiful. This is the most innovative wood project I've seen. You shaped and finished them so well. Very cool.

Looks good. Always amazing what a little sanding and shaping can do.
I might have to try this with a pair of prescription lens I have. Well done.
As Doctor Who is a mad man in a blue box, you are a mad man in a woodshop, Glorious. =)
I've been watching you as you grow up and as your skills have improved. I say bravo.. Keep up the good work ...

In my last post I said you looked young but I did not mean anything bad about that. Its good to see a young person doing this kind of work.
Awesome wooden sunglasses Alex! I really enjoyed watching your method of making them. Nice detailed shaping especially with the bridge and the nose pads. Now we need someone to do a steam bending version. lol Thanks for the mention and link. Oh, nice dancing too! :)

Nice handwork on these. Both are nice but I prefer this than Charmichael's tbh due to it's solid looking finish. Great choice of wood as well.
Great job, they turned out pretty good.
Wow! You do such an amazing job on all of your projects! I absolutely love these glasses, and the bowl! Good job!
Nicely done. Hope your sister didn't mind you taking her old sunglasses.

Just AWESOME! :) I am impressed on so many levels that I don't know where to begin. I hope that you make a business out of this because I would not just be a devoted customer but I would promote you. Excellent work.

This is awesome. Those look very similar to a pair of Glassy sunglasses I was going to buy. I'd love to see a video on the accents if you end up doing them.

I can imagine prescription glasses being a lot harder to do, as there are a lot of things to take into account, including centre axis etc. Sorry it didn't work out for you, Alex.
muito bom, um trabalho muito bem feito, parabéns, seus vídeos são uma inspiração para muitos.
Great project and nicely done. I think I would pull out all of my hair by the time I finished a project like that. Think I will keep my hair for now.
7:22 why didn't you sand off the pink paint/ cover it up somehow?
If that's not hipster I dunno what is, cool project!!
