I think an anti-Tory vote would leave all other parties in the same proportion they had before the vote, wouldn't it? But that's not what happened. Yes, there was doubtless a huge anti-Tory vote, but it seems to me that the number of victories for the Lib-Dems is staggering, and cannot be explained by anti-Tory sentiment alone. Of course some councils apparently only had Lib-Dems as an alternative to the Tories, but can that account for the huge number of seats they won?

@Dagoth Ur We struggle with small voter turnout in the US too, but I think that's another way of getting what we want. Many people voted to let other people worry about it because they'd rather spend their time in other pursuits. Well, the majority rules, right? If they want to stand by and let a country that they don't really care about fall into mayhem. That's their political position. If most people don't think their country is worth the bother, they'll get their way. The majority gets its way. We talk about the major political parties, but they're nothing compared to the party of the apathetics.

All that along with individuals and political parties claiming moving away from the EU would be the ultimate solution to not so legal movement adds up to a cemented opinion. They were voted back in so the majority of people in the area agree with me. Is that still shocking for you? Who is your local council? What have they done for your area?
