Really it just shows how stupid people are. It’s called acting for a reason. To think that anyone is the same as their character in real life. It’s just plain stupid.
I found Cam, to be a stereotype from the 60s and this humor was based on being nelly. We either get Nelly or sociopathic. I find it odd that Eric thought that he could play a gay man, better than a gay man, bad sign.
If you saw him on other programs, CSI Vegas for example as a lab rat, you begin to understand he is really an actor in the true sense. I enjoy his work.
He says it's not a big deal but it's definitely interesting to see a very straight character play what is essentially a gay icon. There's a chance Mitchell and Cam have done just as much as any politician who fights for LGBT rights in their portrayal of these guys, in terms of making it very normal
I honestly never thought he was. 🤔 I see Stonestreet as a convincing (award-winning) actor because his real personality, as far as you can tell from interviews and such, is quite different. He comes across much more "tough" and confident and low-key and not nearly as melodramatic or hysteric or snarky as our (very lovable!) drama queen Cam tends to be. The man is just charismatic both in and out of character but that's it, really. The rest is just original acting. 🤷🏻♀️
I feel like so often nowadays actors play variations of themselves that when an actor actually changes themselves for a role the audience doesn't know what to do.
The difference between personality actors who are type cast for being a caricature of themselves vs actually being a completely different person for the part. The rock vs al Pacino
He came into my work at a bar in Australia, he was the most normal straight laced guy. He thanked people for their compliments. But he is definitly not Cam in real life.
I don’t like clowns, but think it’s cool that he created that caricature and brought it on set! I would be happy to meet him in real life! I did the same to Ty meeting him in person, but now when I see him from time to time with his family I understand that he’s just a normal guy, who has won awards.
It's like Bea Arthur vs Betty white in the golden girls. Bea Arthur is very much like her character Dorothy. Stoic and straight to the point. Betty White is the complete opposite of her character, as she said in her interview. Betty is very sharp and picks the atmosphere very quickly. Rose, on the other hand, is an airhead.
No wayyyyy, so he's not gay in real life?! I came here after seeing him as Cameron Diaz's roommate in Bad Teacher. I was thinking "look at Cam playing a straight guy! He's pretty convincing!" 😂
As a gay man, I appreciate how he doesn’t “act” like a gay character. He “becomes” the gay character of Cam. Although over the top, he embodies gayness and femininity instead of merely pretending it.
Is it gonna do this in every interview? I don't think Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep are trying to make sure everyone knows that they are not exactly like the characters they play.
My favorite thing is straight actors playing Gay characters and then claiming they're "nothing" like their character 😂 .....Like, you got the role for a reason, dude.
no one is like cam. cam is what sheltered straight people think gay people want to be. mitchell is what gay people are. stressed tf out. even theatre gays dont act like cam. its embarassing for the writers that they think people act like that
Well there are great portrayals of straight actors playing gay characters like Cameron Monaghan , Noel Fisher , Timothy chalamet etc they were fearless and pretty fine about filming the most intimate scenes with another straight actor. Looking at it now Eric stonestreet's performance was really stereotypical old woman like gay he avoided tpintimate scenes with his costar and thus personally I felt like they were like Smurf who live on a one mushroom house
It’s such a testament to how great of an actor he is that people think he’s really how his character is .
Really it just shows how stupid people are. It’s called acting for a reason. To think that anyone is the same as their character in real life. It’s just plain stupid.
He plays it so well yes I thought he was probably like that fr. It is a tv show not a movie. Definitely thought he was gay 😂😂😂
"straight cam is not real, he can't hurt you"
straight cam:
You know what else is scary?
A straight Mitchell Pritchett.
Thankfully, he doesn't exist.
"Duude, it's Caam!"
For my own sanity I'm gonna believe he is acting in real life. His modern family version is his real version 😭😂
😂😂
He really doesn't even seem like the same person, even his cam voice is a creation of the character.
the funnier thing is that tyler (mitchell) was actually gay but somehow acted straigther then eric
Told my wife that today and she didn't agree. Thanks pal

Can't say which one is my fav character in Modern Family, but Eric is definitely the best actor in the show by miles
Ty Burrell is in the same league.

Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) walked so Eric Stonestreet could run
LGB* not LGBT.
Trans people call lesbians bigots for not being attracted to men.
He`s HILARIOUS as Cam and one of my favorite characters in Modern Family and the competition is tough.

wait.....so, he.....an actor.....
......is acting when he is on his show?
who would've thought...
Obviously, but it's not crazy for an actor to put themselves a bit in the character. Look at Robin Williams in roles.

Love his character 😂. Great show anyway. Ones of best
Wait, didn't he go to clown college in real life though.....
The producers added Fizbo to Cam's character when Eric Stonestreet shared that he was actually a clown and went to clown college

how could it be a documentary lol

Eric stonestreet should have his own talk show
