I agree with you. But when these guys change networks, they usually lose the rights to everything that was part of the old show. The original network retains the rights. Same thing happened with Letterman when he flipped to CBS.
Couldn't they in theory keep the same format but name it differently?

January 4th 2010 - just before the explosion of the Tonight Show fiasco. Apparently NBC had already decided to move Leno back to 11.35pm just before Christmas 2009, but delayed the announcement until January 2010.

La bamba sings the 3000's too fast, the original 2000's were slower and way more etherial and hypnotic sounding. I dont know if it was intentional or not but it seems to be pretty consistent
Everything else seems sped up too, as if the producer was prompting them to go through it faster offscreen.
Got to speed up everything to get another ad in there! Beholden to the advertisers.

Either Conan doesn't really read through all the jokes before he does these bits, or he is really good at faking his reactions to them in his delivery. Either way, it's hilarious when he really hates a joke as he's making it.

He doesn't mess up on the one after that, but all 3 of them laugh, including some audience members because they remembered how he royally screwed it up the first time!

@@AC3handle They own rights to all of the sketches. It's the same reason why David Letterman wasn't allowed to use Stupid Pet Tricks when he left NBC, and Stephen Colbert has to misspell "word" when he does it on The Late Show.
