Real Civil Enginneer's use of a calculator makes me wonder if he is an architect after all
He definitely is 😂
lol
Someone woke up and chose violence here
yea not understanding what mod is on the calculator is troubling :P
"I've taken it, cause it's shiny…"
Definitely an Architect.
"Should i use a swap?"
"Oh no, it swaps!"
Swapper, no swapping!
Love how he completely ignored the fact he could multiply by 0. Also him saying 10 is a prime number… 5x2….. him avoiding engineering calculator… more proof he’s actually an architect in disguise!
He was referring to 31 as a prime number not 10 and he did multiply by zero once.
I'll give the developer 10 out of 10 for originality, but my desire to ever play this is hovering about 1 out of 10 and that's being generous.
Honestly I'd give it a 5 out of 10 for originality as it leans heavily on Balatro as a concept, but uses Math instead of poker hands. Cool for math enthusiasts, but hard for a more general appeal. An interesting take nonetheless.
@@belgare123It’s older than Balatro IIRC
If they had brackets/parentheses you could do some really cool stuff
Same lmao I can’t do math and I’m listening to this and it’s like… what??
@@belgare123 Hmm, didn't even put the connection with Balatro. Alright I'll lower my originality score, but still... Balatro is playing with poker hands, poker is a game people play normally, this is punching numbers into a calculator.
I HAVE TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DIVIDE BY 0
Nothin
@@aryanmittal3970 have you even played the game? 😭
@@Mangoesydo you know basic math? Anything divided by 0 is 0
@@Mangoesyit's basic math, you actually Can't divide by 0
I have the game. You get an achievement called black hole on steam and it plays a black hole animation over the game.
17:30 That is called the modulo/modulus. It's the remainder after a dividing two numbers.
Example 1: Let's take 16 / 6. What is the highest multipie of 6 before going above 16? Of course 12.
[ 6 x 2 = 12 ], while [ 6 x 3 = 18 ] and would go above 16. Then we just subtract [ 16 - 12 = 4 ]. The remainder(16 mod 6) is 4.
Example 2: Let's take 20 / 3. Whats the highest multiple of 3 before going above 20? Of course 18.
[ 3 x 6 = 18 ] while [ 3 x 7 = 21 ] and would go above 20. Then we just subtract [ 20 - 18 = 2 ]. The remainder(20 mod 3) is 2.
I thought that too but the grammer made it a bit confusing lol
modulo is very useful in programmation
Just in the next round it would have been of great help as 89%3=2
Of course
And right in the following round he could've used it: 89 (mod) 3 [green button] = 2
Richard watterson would lose his mind over this
Absolutely yeah
What do you mean this is the game he was playing lol
Ive heard that name before, but where?
@@El_Negro2003 i think it’s the amazing world of gumball, this comment refers to an episode where he plays the calculator app
@Shift-Sticklerz fucking hell, I used to watch that show every time I come home from school until I was 16
You haven't been an engineer in so long even that novice engineering calculator will destroy you
Wait, why is the calculator laid out like a phone? The one should be at the BOTTOM left, not top...
Clearly made by someone who's too young too have ever seen a physical calculator, and only ever used their phone 🤣
@@mattm7220Boomer-ass comment. Go open the calculator on your phone and you’ll realize it’s in the correct order.
Will it be different for the engineer calculator??
Everyone knows the best number is 58008.
7:57 omg 😂 he reads it then is shocked after it does what it says… architect vibes fr
Engineer who doesn’t know how the “mod” operator works? Oh gosh…
I mean, he's a *civil* engineer
He is really an architect. It's a prank channel.
Engineers don't use modulus. It's mostly a programming thing.
Yes I’m sure all engineers are the same with the same skills needed for their specific job.
9:17 So many extra button clicks aha. (95+1)/32 would have gotten us there without the reverser aha
not sure i'd want to see a long series of this but I DO want to see the engineering calculator
8:22 multiply by 0, then multiply by (power of) 3; job's a good 'un
0 times 3 = 0
@The_Arx whoops you're right, I meant multiply by POWER OF 0
BUT, now that you got me to see the video again, I noticed matt only had ^2
first I was like "why he didn't just did - 68" and then I got it
Took me too long as well 😅
Mod is a short for modulo which basically works like this:
When you have a number and divide it by another number that gives you a decimal point, it is because you haven't used full division (if that's what you want to call it). So if 5 ÷ 2 equals 2 and one fifth, modulo is used instead of division to give you the remainder. In the case I gave above, the remainder is one. So 5 % 2 = 1.
I hope it's understandable!
For this game Module (%) operator was one of the strongest buttons. It is the fasters way to make a large number smaller. Any number % 1 = 0
Can't you just multiply by 0 for the same effect
It also is extremely handy when you can easily make bigger numbers, like with the engineering calculator.
@17:26 mod "modulus or modulo operator" is the remainder "left over" of a division in full numbers f.e. 5 mod 3 is remainder or "leftover" would be 2
RCE: this game should be very simple, no test run needed
Then RCE: I don't know the order of operations; will this give me an integer or decimal?
This game could actually be quite a nice tool to gamify math courses for kids.
15:50, "Last round needed number, which is 62, not very useful." Need 31. Just divide by 2.
That thumbnail takes me right back to school! 🤣
Clicked on this video and then grabbed my TI-30Xa sitting on my desk from high school 25yrs ago to follow along. As much as I like CAD and computers and stuff, sometimes I like just sitting down with rulers, set squares, a compass, and a calculator
Glad that you decided to play this game! I love it.
15:53 "Not very useful" AS YES, 62, NOT USEFUL FOR GETTING 31
He had no way to divide.
@@Kourindouinc did he?
@ Yes. His divide button had no uses left.
dividing gives you a number and a remainder if you are using fractions, mod gives you the remainder. 3 / 3 = 1 remainder 0, 3 % 3 = 0, 4 / 3 = 1 remainder 1, 4 % 3 = 1. Can get you really small numbers quickly.
It’s concerning how much you struggled without minus…😂 I could feel your anxiety at not having a minus
More storage hunter simulator! It is the best series!!!
Agreeeeeeeeed
And the lizard selling game
"I know what that looks like but I don't want to say it"
"Oh its a bomb!"
**INSTANTLY DEMONITISED**
this is like knowing the answer on an exam and not knowing how to show your work
this feels like countdown but with more constraints
so the balatro dev went into educational games? nice I guess, could've helped me in school maybe
this is such a cool concept, I don't think I've seen anything like it before
Thats different level of creativity. Calculator game?! And it looks fun?! And I just bought it?! Whats next, tv remote rougelike or car exhaust simulator?
Car exhaust simulator is currently being developed by AngeTheGreat.
That was so fun to watch! I’m not very good at math so I was on the edge of my seat for every equation! lol good stuff.
Why did I find this weirdly satisfying
Just needs the Countdown music to add the "I'm stuck in a nightmare" vibe I'm getting from this game.
You need the house to look good as well. But it makes your job harder.
7:00 it's basically saying you sacrifice one button for another one at random whether you currently have it or not
This feels like Bellatro but with numbers and as an Engineer who love maths, would geek out on it
imagine your calculator had limited button uses and in game purchases...
AAA game studio has entered the chat
17:17
27 mod 10 is 7 as an example. Mod is probably my fav operation :D
>Claims to be engineer
>Doesn't know what Mod does
Boys we got him he's an architect
I love Math blaster and math-man... I think these devs will find an audience
Whichever math teacher made this game so his students learn math is a genius 🤣🤣
1:54
Wait... isn't "x" also used as a multiplication symbol? I also know about the "•" like 3•2 = 12
Edit, my math is wrong but I found it hilarious. Decided to add this whole phrase as an edit instead of just changing it to 6. I'm keeping it. lol!
I'm so glad someone else only know their 9 times tables by using their fingers
Oh dear.... Rachel Riley would be embarrassed at this video.
@RCE - Mod (%) is short for Modulus, which returns the Remainder of a division instead of the quotient. 4 % 2 = 0, where 4 / 2 = 2. You could've used that to do 89 % 2 + 1 to beat the next part.
17:25 I believe that is saying that it will divide the current number by whichever number on the calculator that you choose.
Edit: Though, I am not sure because isn't that just what the divide button does? Maybe it divides the target and current numbers and rounds it?
I got to 19/20 on my first run, then decided to try out what happens if you divide by zero 😂😂
Can't believe AliensRock beat Matt to this game by six months. Who's the real engineer?
I would love to see you use the engineering calculator to prove you're not an architect
5:05 An alternate solution:
58 + 5 = 63 🔄 36 → 36 / 2 = 18
Mod is the remainder after a division
Richard Watterson was waay ahead of you 😂😂💔
Remember kids "Timesing by itself" is a technical phrase.
Skip Append 5 and go for a pen15 you’ll love that one
Am I the only one surprised that this literal engineer does not know the modulo function?
That literal engineer is Matt, so... yeah, you're the only one who's surprised.
RCE the only youtube i can watch and enjoy playing the most random/stupid stuff
0:20 drawn by looks instead of function? 🤔. Gold and shiny things are aesthetic choices, like an Architect chooses!
This was good fun! I’d be excited to see the other calculators!
this is 8 out of 10 cats numbers game, love that part
lol you mean countdown, but I get it
9:18 you could also have incremented 95 to 96 then divide by 32 and you would have used less buttons. but that's if you could use the 3 since you only had one 3.
FINALLY IVE WAITED MY WHOLE 17 YEARS OF LIFE FOR THIS
This is probably what is going to happen if EA make a calculator
8 out of 10 Architects Does Countdown
Of course now I understand why I’m failing math
I really want him to divide by 0 and see if there is some Easter egg
If he got the mod then next round would have been sooo easy, remander of 2 is so easy to find
Magpie Matt strikes on every roguelike
There's a game now that tricks people into doing Algebra. What has the world come to?
Matt- You have a gift in making these kind of games interesting lol. Great video :-)
17:10 you divide, but you don't take the quotient you take the remainder. Ie. 10/3 = 3 remainder 1. So if you are taking the mod the answer is 1.
11:42 By the rules of PEMDAS ( or bodmas if your British) the exponent should go before the addition, unless it’s a basic calculator and doesn’t have the processor to account for that
Think he means whether the exponent applies to the number you input or the current number.
@ basically
I need to see an engineering calculator run if thats the only other video on this game you do!
Driving me mad that the dollar signs are on the wrong side of the number
How can an engineer not know what mod is?
It reminds me of a very good strategy deckbuilder Calculords I had on my iPad.
Mod gives the remainder of a division
10 mod 2 = 0
10 mod 3 = 1
(And why can my autocorrect to maths now?!)
You really need a calculator for this calculator game
Swapping the 2 numbers can be useful if you run out of+, -, * or /
I saw another video where someone used the convert to closest prime, and it straight up skipped a prime number and converted to the second closest prime
I think your engineering credentials are in question if you don't know what mod (modulus) does. It gets you the remainder when you divide, so 97 mod 10 equals 7
I think the editor will need a fresh supply of "really?" clips...
16:00 calling 62 not useful is crazy... you could just use last to get 62, then swap the 2 numbers, then multiply by 2
But he didn't have the swap nor division. 62 was useless
... It's concerning when a dev making a game about calculators and maths can't spell "multiplies" correctly.
Matt!! For the boss battle, wouldn't it be better to just add 1 to 95 to make it 96 then divide by 32? :P
Great content as always tho
We making under 5 minutes with this one🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
12:00 An alternate solution:
17 X1 = 171 → 171 / 3 = 57
An engineer that can only use minus on a calculator. XD
Reminds me of Devil’s Calculator! But as a roguelike instead of a puzzle game.
need a machinist calculator in there
Matt is an idiot. Didn't recall the number 62 when dividing it by 2 would make 31. This all happened around the 15 minute mark.
89 Mod 3 = 2. You could have done that easily if you bought it. 87/3 = 29 so the remainder out of 89 is 2.
my brain is not mathing today
I think you'd love a new game demo on steam called Sandustry. I'd love to see how YOU play it :)
This game made my brain hurt. And I was only watching a video. I think I was overthinking it LOL
The type of shit required for math exams💀
