Plleeeeeeeaaaassse do a Zangoose optimized backport! Also, apparently you won’t need the rare candies for either because of swords dance. Can we do it as a stream? Plleeeeeaaaasssseeee
That opening clip had me thinking how absolutely buckwild it would've been if Scott came back with a 80minute long Dr. Who video essay. Glad you're back to the main uploads Scott!
"It was good, sometimes great, then it became sometimes good, but it's been on a steady decline and is now nothing but trash." You don't need 80 minutes to cover Dr. Who.
No, the nighttime aesthetic is so good! Imagine you're a kid going on vacation to mexico, and on the drive their your dad got you a game boy color and Crystal version. You and your two brothers are piling on top of the other person who gets to play, looking over his shoulder to catch a glimpse of Pokemon magic. Its nighttime. The cab light is on, and the only where you can see. Youre 8 years old and your character is strolling past the gate for the Ilex forest. You finally make it into goldenrod City, and in the darkness of the city all of the department store lights are on everybody's home lights are on. This aesthetic is a core memory for me ❤️
YES!! I know people enjoy your live streams but they're simply not for me so I really appreciate you can go back and forth with the different content styles!
He’s back! Welcome back Scott, the live streams have been great, but it’s something else to get a produced video. I loved Normal types as a kid - especially Johto ones - because they have such diverse move sets which I valued over everything else.
Excited to watch this later tonight! Hope you've had an amazing vacation Scott and thanks for also releasing the streams as additional content for everyone. Appreciate you ♥
The night time cycle is visually pleasing to me. It feels like Pokemon on dark mode which is something I do in just about every program or app that lets me do it.
Having not seen the Ursaring video yet, and starting this one out, hearing you say that Ursaring did incredibly well I suspect that Granbull will perform quite well due to it being basically a diet Ursaring. Edit: at 58:30 Scott even says that Granbull is often described as "Ursaring Lite". I felt super vindicated
Real talk. I somehow haven't had you in my feed for maybe 6 months. Until literally yesterday when I watched about 6 hours of your recent videos. Makes the "I'm back" hit different. XD
Woot! He has gotten the projects back up and running! I'm gonna presume this is the one that was supposed to go out this previous weekend since you had said the first video was gonna be in yellow featuring a very different duo, iirc.
That subtle dunk on AHHnix as you mention the "Most Defensive Pokemon" in the game and switch from it getting OHKO'd by Ice Punch to Umbreon was perfection.
Still feels a bit chaotic behind the scenes! This one was intended for Saturday... I'm hoping that by the end of the month things will be stable again.
Regarding on conversation about banning Return: how many Pokémon in these Crystal runs have relied on Return against Red? I wouldn't ban Return, even if I am not huge fan of the move, unless this series would be divided into Red and Blue divisions, which would chosen based on the last successful major battle. And even so - I would rather first try rules like "Return after Blackout" or insert a symbol in a tier that informs the viewer which Pokémon relied on Return (+ Curse) against Red. After all, Return before Red just reduces amount of grinding.
Yeah, Crystal has more fundamental problems than just banning a move. Would the removal of Return make the Red fight more exciting? Likely not. Instead Pokemon would spam Headbutt or Swift powered up by Curse etc. The more I think about it, I'd have to remove Curse and Return together. There might be an argument for Rest and Sleep Talk too if we really want to promote other strategies. But I can't be sure that would make the videos more interesting...
So, with you and RBYChallenges getting going again, I'd like to welcome you back to my work week, Scott. You both were missed. You make this monotonous job a little less so.
Awesome runs, as always! Granbull did a much better job than I was expecting, but that's its Normal typing putting in work. Excellent job, Scott and Team!
Great matchup! I’ve come to appreciate normal types a lot after recently getting back into playing the games. In Gen 3 my favorite was always Vigoroth but I recently discovered how much of a work horse Linoone is. Total beast of a Pokemon. I look forward to seeing you solo run with Linoone. I’m also keeping my fingers crossed for a Magcargo video soon lol.
"Er ist wieder hier. In seinem Revier. War nie wirklich weg. Hat sich nur versteckt" (He is here again. In his terretory. was never really gone. did just hide himself) -Small variation of a german song of Marius Mueller Westernhagen
Welcome back Scott, drawing with your voice in the background is always relaxing. Amazing to see these normal types perform so well, I expected water types to perform the best because of early surf and easy coverage with access to ice moves. I still hold my position that the best performing pokemon in crystal will be backported Garchomp. Also looking forward to Arceus in a video, backported or in gen4. I think a lot of people will be surprised how awful his starting moveset is and that despite how strong judgement is we'll literally never see it because it's a lv100 move.
Really been loving the streams. But glad to see a produced video. The commentary on your videos is always amazing. Really have found your groove. Keep it up man.
*vibrates in Snubbull* Welcome back Scott! This was a really awesome video. It's really cool to see these two excellent Normal types just break Crystal in half.
Have you ever Thought of doing a theoretical run through these games? Complete the games with a modded pokemon doing minimum battles and 1 shotting all opponents to see what your theoretically best time is with your current routing.
I certainly wasn't expecting the grand return to be a versus video! I used a granbull once or twice and was rather pleased. It's a fun pokemon that feels kind of underrated in our modern climate. I'm definitely rooting for it today! Oh, and welcome back! Even though you were never really gone 🤭 I'm really happy to see you playing at night. I loooove the game at night, and we don't see it here enough.
Back when I first played Pokemon Red when it came out in America, my friends at school had a slogan: “Clefable is able!” As it seemed like it could learn almost every tm. Excited to see how it does!
Always liked the streams but also very happy to see videos return from that break, hopefully the streams will come and go every now and then~ Also the start I was so damn confused thinking I clicked on the wrong thing and so confused cause I never watch doctor who Also the fighting specialist thing, technically it’s the fighting Dojo next to Sabrina, sure it’s not the best but being against someone with hitmonlee and can give you it after you beat him, it would be them, especially if you are playing the game as a you found it around that level, sure wish that guy was in the elite four over that random hiker
Psyduck is 100% spawn rate surfing on the water north of goldenrod btw. If u already have a surf user, and just want Psyduck for the other HMs thats a good bet.
I love so much the night estetic, when I play those games (yes, my silver is still running)I manipulate the clock so it'll be night time when I play it
You're telling me it's original design was the ugly pet that mind controls it's owners to pamper it? As awesome a concept as that is imo it probably would have been a bit too on the nose.😂😂
Yeeeeees. Not that you were ever gone, but it's good to have these back. Gonna put my pennies on Clefable because of how versatile it is. It won't hit as hard as Granbull with its physical moves, but it's not going to have many problems it can't solve. And it's faster, which helps a lot.
Well I learned something new today in the interactions Moonlight has with Sunnyday. Never knew that! I only thought it depended on what time of day it was.
My suggestion regarding that one rare candy is whenever you plan a 2nd attempt run, to write down that note of necessity. If a pokemon absolutely needs it in order to make an attempt vs Red then there's no reason to remove it from the planogram, much like how you would remove a trip for a specific TM if you ended up never using it. If a pokemon doesn't need it in natural play, maybe make a [x] mark versus a checkmark for future note planning. Even if you end up needing it, making this mental roadmap in advance for run no. 2 may end up shaving a couple seconds of indecisive time down.
Hello and great to see you again, Scott! I'm writing this before I watch the video, but my money's on Granbull to win this. Clefable was nothing special until it got Magic Guard in Gen 4.
If you ever feel like it, i'd love to see a versus between Scyther and Scizor. Or Sycther, Scizor, and Kleavor if including later gens. I know it's not really your normal versus format, but I'd just really like to know which scyther form wins as it's the only pokemon that upon evolving only has its stat spread change along with a type change.
I feel like i'm the only person who used Snubble/Granbull ;.; When I was growing up I had a pug I named him Spike (from the movie The Land Before Time) when gen 2 came out I ran into a Snubble in the wild and caught him then named him Spike after my dog, then beat the game and Red with my dog in my party lmao. Some good memories honestly, thank you for your series they remind me of good vibes and simpler times ^^
Sunny day interacting with moonlight like that kinda makes me think the final playthrough's moveset is gonna be along the lines of SD, Solarbeam, return and moonlight
Opening with that Doctor Who clip I almost believed I clicked the wrong video
IKR, I was like is this an ad? I thought i clicked skip already! 😵💫
That got me so hyped.
I was reading this comment as it was playing and thought I was just listening to an ad
That was legendary
Plleeeeeeeaaaassse do a Zangoose optimized backport! Also, apparently you won’t need the rare candies for either because of swords dance. Can we do it as a stream? Plleeeeeaaaasssseeee
That opening clip had me thinking how absolutely buckwild it would've been if Scott came back with a 80minute long Dr. Who video essay.
Glad you're back to the main uploads Scott!
As fun as it would have been, Scott does not seem like he has a history in or is interested in Doctor Who.
I believe he picked it up last year @@iantaakalla8180
"It was good, sometimes great, then it became sometimes good, but it's been on a steady decline and is now nothing but trash."
You don't need 80 minutes to cover Dr. Who.
Love the Battle of the Fairies that weren't Fairies but then were Fairies.
Thai was before they were promoted to elite employees
No, the nighttime aesthetic is so good!

1:16:07 love that Metronome landed on BOOM on the last turn of an earlier Metronomed Perish Song, just spectacular timing on Clefable’s part!
He’s back! Welcome back Scott, the live streams have been great, but it’s something else to get a produced video. I loved Normal types as a kid - especially Johto ones - because they have such diverse move sets which I valued over everything else.

Appreciate you ♥
Hope you enjoyed it!
Literally just opened RUclips right now thinking "maybe Scott finally got something new posted" AND YOU DID!
Absolute best content creator on RUclips.
Thank you so much…
Thank you so much !
Man I'm surprised how much i missed these videos! Definitely my favorite poketuber at this point! Thank you for all the work you put in!
There are so many talented people in this space. I feel honored to be your favorite.
Just when you think Scott has taken an extra month off... BOOM!
Drops this monster. Let's go the normal fairies! Stay sane Scott ✌🏻
The night time cycle is visually pleasing to me. It feels like Pokemon on dark mode which is something I do in just about every program or app that lets me do it.

You sure did make every day of December awesome. I've missed you, welcome back Scott!
Welcome back Scott, although i caught most of your streams these past few weeks. A VS. Video is quite a way to kick off 2024.
I loved the Doctor Who intro. My wife and I are currently rewatching the series (currently on the Seventh series!) glad to see you back, Scott!
Real talk. I somehow haven't had you in my feed for maybe 6 months. Until literally yesterday when I watched about 6 hours of your recent videos.
Makes the "I'm back" hit different. XD
OMG I love that you used Doctor Who for the opening of this video.
We did miss you Scott
Woot! He has gotten the projects back up and running! I'm gonna presume this is the one that was supposed to go out this previous weekend since you had said the first video was gonna be in yellow featuring a very different duo, iirc.
Yellow was supposed to start up on Feb 3rd, and yes this project was for Feb 10th... The health bar is still animating after I used Recover.
That subtle dunk on AHHnix as you mention the "Most Defensive Pokemon" in the game and switch from it getting OHKO'd by Ice Punch to Umbreon was perfection.
HE'S BACKKKKK (j/k I was watching the stream VODs and it was like you never left, but I'm so happy you're back on track with the videos)
Still feels a bit chaotic behind the scenes! This one was intended for Saturday... I'm hoping that by the end of the month things will be stable again.
Nice to see you back!
50:01 the cut to Karen’s team while completely ignoring the onix should’ve been expected but was still really funny

@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Fully agree! Better not let the snowball to Rollout out of control.
Also of any move return makes most sense for a solo run. You're my only friend, the friendship move should be great!
So, with you and RBYChallenges getting going again, I'd like to welcome you back to my work week, Scott. You both were missed. You make this monotonous job a little less so.
Another year of hearing Scott's thoughts and I am here for it! Let's go!
I didn’t even feel like a whole month has passed since the last upload truly the time flies! Great to have these videos back after your break
Awesome runs, as always! Granbull did a much better job than I was expecting, but that's its Normal typing putting in work. Excellent job, Scott and Team!
Great matchup! I’ve come to appreciate normal types a lot after recently getting back into playing the games. Yesssss your Crystal playthroughs are my fav! So glad you’re back Scott
Welcome back GOAT

Great video Scott! Hopefully, things will normalize for the rest of the year, and you don't have so many tech issues. Love your videos and streams!
Happy to have you back Scott!
YESSSSSSSSS! WELCOME BACK SCOTT! Your videos make the most lovely background content while I work; ill save this for tomorrow.
Tuned in today ans realized i was being filled with positive feelings. Welcome back Scott. We love you. Thank you
Welcome back Scott, drawing with your voice in the background is always relaxing.

Glad you’re back! Now I have new videos to fall asleep to instead of replaying the old ones.

Welcome back Scott!
Yup. I have thought of that. I should be doing it regularly to constantly update my baseline and trim routing excess.
I certainly wasn't expecting the grand return to be a versus video! I used a granbull once or twice and was rather pleased. It's a fun pokemon that feels kind of underrated in our modern climate. I'm definitely rooting for it today! Oh, and welcome back! Even though you were never really gone 🤭
I'm really happy to see you playing at night. I loooove the game at night, and we don't see it here enough.
28:48: Scott: All That Remains is his final Haunter.
Me: Huh, I always thought they were a metal band. Silly me. XD
Ah, a person of culture! :D
Every time I say that phrase I think of the band. I keep trying to find ways to work them into a video or a joke but it never works out.
You make my favorite content on RUclips. It’s been a long month without you, Scott. Thank you so much for the amazing videos. ❤
I'm glad to be back!
Good to see your analysis videos back sir, perfect for a long weekend 🐸👍
Back when I first played Pokemon Red when it came out in America, my friends at school had a slogan: “Clefable is able!” As it seemed like it could learn almost every tm. Excited to see how it does!
It is lovely to get back to hearing you uploading.
Haven’t Watch the video yet, liked it already.
Good to have you back Scott !
These vids are my fav on RUclips. Can’t wait for more to come. Live vids are good but nothing beats the originals 🙏
Always liked the streams but also very happy to see videos return from that break, hopefully the streams will come and go every now and then~
Also the start I was so damn confused thinking I clicked on the wrong thing and so confused cause I never watch doctor who
Also the fighting specialist thing, technically it’s the fighting Dojo next to Sabrina, sure it’s not the best but being against someone with hitmonlee and can give you it after you beat him, it would be them, especially if you are playing the game as a you found it around that level, sure wish that guy was in the elite four over that random hiker
I agree with the return/hidden power uh statement lol keep return its powerful but balanced.
I put ur Vids when I’m about to sleep I listen to it for a bit then just fall asleep but the next day I watch it fully
Psyduck is 100% spawn rate surfing on the water north of goldenrod btw. If u already have a surf user, and just want Psyduck for the other HMs thats a good bet.
welcome back, scott!! glad to see you back and posting videos!
Ah, yes, the quintessential "Fighting Red" set: Return, Curse, Rest, Protect, and Leftovers.
Yay you're back! Glad to see some more of your Thoughts!
Great to see you return dude, glad to see you brought something great this time.
I love so much the night estetic, when I play those games (yes, my silver is still running)I manipulate the clock so it'll be night time when I play it
Whooooooooooooo!
Scotts back!
Snubble was a psychic type in the beta. So granbull wasn’t even thought of
You're telling me it's original design was the ugly pet that mind controls it's owners to pamper it? As awesome a concept as that is imo it probably would have been a bit too on the nose.😂😂
Hell yea I've been waiting for your return! I haven't had a chance to catch any streams, but I hope you had an awesome rest/vacation.
I screamed when I seen these videos back. Sooo happy ❤❤❤
And he returns with a real banger! So hyped.
Love the intro! So happy to have a 2024 Scott video. Absolutely worth the wait!
1:16:08
The ammount of times Self-Destruct and Explosion get selected by Metronome in gen 2, is what got me to swear off using that move.
Yeeeeees. Not that you were ever gone, but it's good to have these back. Gonna put my pennies on Clefable because of how versatile it is. It won't hit as hard as Granbull with its physical moves, but it's not going to have many problems it can't solve. And it's faster, which helps a lot.
returning with the battle of the future fairies! glad to see it!
This is such an epic versus video to start back on 🎉
The *Return* of Scott’s normal types.
Well I learned something new today in the interactions Moonlight has with Sunnyday. Never knew that! I only thought it depended on what time of day it was.
I'm so glad your back your videos are secound to none 👌

HE'S BACK! Tomorrow for dinner I'm definitely listening to this :). Goodnight from 1:33 Italy with wake up call tomorrow at 8...
Phenomenal intro. Thank you Doctor Scott 🫡
That Opening :D i miss something like this in your New Videos ... :(
Yes Scott, we missed you. Except the streams were fun too, so win-win, really :D
Great video Scott! Granbull did better than I thought it would
Loved the intro! Great to have you back!😊
welcome back sir(even tho i've watched every stream the past few weeks)
One formerly Normal Fairy compared to another.
Ive been waiting for scott to come back with the vids and he came back swinging damn
Opening raised my hopes for another special with Tennant, till i realised it wasn't an ad 😂
Welcome back. It's like seeing an old friend again.
You're welcome
I hope you had a real break and relaxed maybe even didnt play any games for several days
Thanx for the great content you and your team make!
I love the night visuals in gen 2. Dark mode ftw!
The king is back
29:56 you take that back young Sir! Chuck is nothing like Surge
Great to see you back, Scott!
Banger start of the year Scott!
I have returned ;)
Sunny day interacting with moonlight like that kinda makes me think the final playthrough's moveset is gonna be along the lines of SD, Solarbeam, return and moonlight
These are two amazing fairies. As of Gen VI, they are Fairy-types. One is extraterrestrial, the other is down to earth.
I appreciate that intro!
