I am beyond abstract, concrete does not exist for me....this is a lesson call "PSYCHOLOGY AND SINGING" by my coach Sir Carl.
So right about being in the now when singing, and draw from the pain or joy to allow the emotion to roll in....stuff of giants!
    Thanks Coach! !!

Your video is talking to me. The whole concept is about letting go of our mind structure and give priority to our intuitive feelings
" what feels right for me " and build from there.
    I totally agree.

Thank you so much for your videos. You go to such a detailed level to explain not only the techniques but the mind set you have to be in. I can honestly say my confidence in myself and my singing has improved since I started watching your videos. Thanks again!

People who live in the present don't have expectation about sound they are going for, rather they use their voice to express their passion in the moment they are.
I want to point out that sometimes a free bold scream can be better than self-destroying squeezed but medium volume sound, because being free is a way to consistency and if you just back down a bit, you will get a very good start. Being ready to be loud, to be expressive, not necessarily beautiful, is extremely important.

    • @cwehden
      @cwehden  6 лет назад +2

Yeah they just don't care that much and they are more concerned about expressing themselves than proving themselves.

    Love it!!
This is quote that relates to what you were saying in the video:
"Everything we want to accomplish-to paint the house, learn a new language, find a better job-is something that promises that, if done, it would allow us to finally relax and enjoy our lives in the present. Each of us is looking for a path back to the present: We are trying to find good enough reasons to be satisfied now. Acknowledging that this is the structure of the game we are playing allows us to play it differently. How we pay attention to the present moment largely determines the character of our experience and, therefore, the quality of our lives." -Sam Harris
It turns out, as you've said in the video, the way we pay attention to the present moment also has a significant impact on the quality of our singing and training.

I've had a hard time with self-doubt and even self-hatred and just now I've understood how much it affects my singing. I've started thinking about it after I saw your first video about this issue.
Todays practice was a different one 'cuz I tried to stay calm on harder parts and now I could do them without it being a panic situation.

Another awesome video ...from my personal experience I tend to just sing …there is not much analytical thinking going on while I am singing ... I just let my voice go wherever it wants to go…however I do invoke some measures of control to reign in the over-singing, overly loud or excessive runs when becoming too emotional… all the self-doubt, hating my voice, etc happens after I sing (LOL)…BTW, what is your thoughts on using “Subliminal” videos to improve your singing… saw several videos about this the other day.

Being in the moment is easy and the abstract understanding i have the more foundation i have to be creative and in the moment.

What if u have positive thinking and sing without fear but still can't get above the break?

    • @cwehden

Then you have to develop more skill, good singing is skill and free expression combined.

I'm struggling with all this right now and it's one of the hardest parts of singing to really get for us hard case singers, stay strong :)

I feel like I try to relax as much as possible and I feel relaxed, but still when I try around the A5 on the piano for chest voice, my voice just decides to sound like a metal scream. It dosent hurt at all, but it annoys me, so I just try to belt it hard, because Im ticked, then I get actual unhealthy distortion in my voice on the A5. It's just very hard for me, because everyone person I watch on youtube or talk to says to just relax and I try to relax and it still dosent wanna work for me.

This is where you need to go backwards in order to go forwards, basic singing skills take time to grow and develop.

i'm definitely an abstract type of person. i envy the guitarist of my band who's such a concrete thinker. he just doesn't give a fuck. i'd literally sell my liver to be like that.

@@cwehden that's how you recognize a sensitive genius. im so in love and obsessed with singing. and since i watch your videos, i feel like i really came from far in just a year. you being the man you are, operating that vocal rebirth on yourself... and teaching it to us, wisely... you deserve way more. You should be more famous than Seth Riggs goddam
