Love me some Gov’t. Mule. I saw them last Summer on their Dark Side of the Mule tour, when they dedicated a set to covering the album & other Pink Floyd songs. Here’s another example of their versatility. Great band, great song, great reaction.✌️❤️🎶

I did not want this to end. I saw the Dirty Dozen perform when i was in New orleans, along with many more.. What a treat, New Orleans is the only place to visit if you like, are a jazz fan! Harri, i would have called this gospel bluesy jazz in its highest form. When the sounds got softer at the end, I agree that it was a soulful haunting performance. It's another great song for my gospel playlist. ❤ I've heard this song from others who were good, but this is the best version! Thank you, Harri and Adam.😊

Warren Haynes on vocals and slide guitar 🎸 he’s a past member of the Allman Brothers band. Blind Willie Johnson did the original of this song

Saw Warren and Mule in December in Asheville, at Warren's annual Christmas Jam to raise money for Asheville area Habitat for Humanity. The Warren Haynes Christmas Jam is an Asheville fixture. This year's lineup included Clutch, Slash, Billy F. Gibbons, and George Porter, Jr.

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band is definitely from New Orleans. Worth a search. Came out of a youth music program in the 70s.

You need to check out Larkin Poes version of this song. It's so good it was used as a weekly song in the TV show Lucifer, a year after they put it out. 2 sisters . Great guitarists. Great vocals and they are big in the blues.

First time I heard this was at the end of Season 1 Episode 13 of Sons of Anarchy. It was an ending that set up the show for the following seasons. It's really a great song, great performers.

Thanks Harri!! This is tied for my favorite version with Son House's acapella performance that is astonishing. Warren is a guy he pulls from and respects all genres of music. I've seen Mule live a bunch and they have never put on a bad show.

Love Govt Mule and Warren Haynes. He's a great guitarist. I remember the summer he toured with The Dead, the Allman Brothers and Govt Mule. I don't know how he did it. All I do know is I was lucky enough to see him in all three bands that summer

You have now jumped into "The Deep End" with Gov't Mule . This is from the Video DVD that accompanies the band's LIVE Album "The Deepest End" pays tribute to their original bassist & a master of The Deep End , Allen Woody . This concert featured an "A" list of bass players paying tribute to a fallen member of their tribe . 2 of the bands most epic songs to check from this album are "Blind Man in the Dark" with saxophonist Karl Denson sitting on & super charging that performance . Another is "Mule" and for a great cover song , Metalica's Jason Newsted joins da Mule for an epic cover of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" . Again , welcome to The Deep End 🙂

This is a very good version of the song and shows off the two bands as something special but it does pale to me in comparison comparison to the original with Blind Willie Johnson's raspy voice and his first wife singing the responses to his calls.
However, I will look out for further music from these bands.
