Also, the way they brought very damning charges, then dropped them after they'd poisoned the jury against him with them, was appalling. They basically denied him the right to defend himself. The way the judge referred to the dropped charges was also appalling. If something is dropped , it is supposed to be stricken from the record and never discussed again.

The idea that a sentence should make an example is a miscarriage of justice in America. Each sentence should be towards the unique circumstances of the individual and the crime. A point I wish more people were aware of: People in maximum security prisons still overdose on fentanyl. If we cannot stop it from getting into maximum security prisons no amount of funding or force is going to entirely remove it from the entire United States. Even if you had unlimited money for the war on drugs (which we don't) it would not happen.
This is flawed logic. Some gets in so the current measures do nothing and just open it all up. Have you looked at LA, Seattle and Portland? Letting drugs run wild is not good for society...
You cannot eliminate 100% of any crime, but some places experience more of some kind of crime than others. Clearly it is possible, through good policy and effective action, to curb criminal behavior. There just needs to be political will to do so. The problem is that the robber barons that rule over us don't care. In fact, there seems to be an agenda to let crime run wild in this country, as can be seen in many cities today who have decriminalized many severe behaviors.
@@xdognatex9897 Society doesn't have rights. Only individuals have rights. If a person or persons want to throw their life/lives away with drugs, it's absolutely their right to. Since you're so worried about "muh society", from society's perspective, it's a self-correcting problem.
It's not an all or nothing argument. It's about reduction. I used to believe that the horrors of rampant drug addiction were the lesser evil compared to the horrors of the war on drugs. But every time a state or country tries to decriminalize drugs, the place turns to absolute shit, and they have to reverse their decision. Perhaps there is a better third option which we haven't explored yet? Certainly I believe that the way the war on drugs has been prosecuted has been largely innefective, and often self-sabotaging, because the agencies in charge want to keep the money flowing and keep increasing their power.

I had no idea that the man he was accused of organising a hit on has himself denounced that theory. I can only assume that is a piece of information that was also kept from the jury.

With the idea of showing an example, many miscarriages of justice and atrocities have been committed by federal agents.

@@xdognatex9897exactly. This all or nothing thinking drives me nuts. However, we should be addressing why ppl do drugs.
@@xdognatex9897
Society doesn't have rights.

The real problem is voting for the initiation of force instead of voting for freedom
@@libertariantranslator1929 Hey I agree, but one thing at a time. "Selling drugs is a victimless crime" is a tough sell. "Judges shouldn't act on secret information" is a lot easier.
Ross Ulbricht has been pardoned, good news people.
I'm not sure I understand. Is the argument here basically, "Yes, he was a drug merchant and/or facilitated the sale of drugs through money laundering via cryptocurrency, but what's wrong with that, none of that should be illegal"?
The issue is the double life sentence
It's the last one.
The government over blew their accusations and then gave him an excessive sentence.
Ok let’s say he did all that stuff. He’s been in jail about 10 years, he’s paid his debt to society.
The argument is that 2 life sentences is too much.
One more thing government's need to learn. They're never going to stop people from doing drugs. The best option is to regulate them, require they get tested and made in a certified lab. As for plant "drugs," weed, mushrooms, etc. should be legalized to grow and use in the privacy of one's home. Let pharmacies handle the coke and opioids like they used to before everything became illegal.
portugal did this and as far as I know, their crime rates dropped.. even addiction rates..
they keep it criminalised to keep it expensive..
see Iran contra..
talk to gary webb
@DragoEpyon No, actually, I don't. I realize and know logic can and should be stopped at some point. You don't have to follow every logical thought out to mean everything it could mean. But when it makes sense, you should follow it to its logical conclusion.
The government knows people are going to do drugs, but law enforcement will NEVER let their budget be cut. The tens of thousands of cops, prosecutors, special agents, etc. will spread lies and scare the people in charge so that they always have a job.
The DEA should be defunded immediately but that will only happen if we ever get a Libertarian president!
the site sold murder services and human organs
Hes since been completely pardoned.
He just did it!!! ❤🎉
Trump will learn much from the young genius about bitcoin & the internet - Fentanyl is the big target for arrest & execution t - also drug cartels - this young man has much to contribute to society & we are glad his sentence has been commuted!
It's done 😊
Free the Dread Pirate Robert.❤
Safe drugs. Intention means alot. He was used. And he should be free.
Zero respect for FBI
Ross strikes me as someone who is extremely gifted that can turn this into something very positive.
I still don't understand, he started a drug website right, isn't that a crime? why are people celebrating his release. No hate, it's a genuine question
I am sure people use FB and Gmail to conduct illegal activities. Should both companies get shut down and their executives go to jail?
People don't think. This wasn't justice. This was egregious and let out a bonified (bona fide?) criminal.
@ No, but Fb and google weren't specifically created for the purpose of drug trade though, there may be misuseage of every platform but this website itself was created for drugs and he sold shrooms too right
@@realjosephanthony First of all, "bonified" isn't a word, genius. People don't think, the proof is you. Get off the internet and read a book.
Second, we get it, you clapped like a seal when Kamala put the weed people in jail. Whatever.
These Americans are crying about Fent and drugs unaliving Americans coming from Mexico. But then y’all are here celebrating the release of a huge drug salesman that’s contributing to that same problem. 🤦🏿
Not only should Ross be released he should have his BTC returned!
He had over 3.5 billion worth of coin stolen from him that the FBI was able to recover a few years ago. His attorney said to take the 180 million to pay his fines and the FBI said they’ll do that and retain the rest in their control…
It’s okay, I’m sure he has a couple hundred stored away in a few ghost wallets

Ross Ulbricht's mother was a well known figure in the Libertarian party. So with her help in his re- election and bc of the unfair sentence Ross received which many people agreed was too much. A free Ross petition gathered over 600000 signatures also. Considering all of this President Trump gave Ross his freedom back.
I pray he does it but I won't hold my breath. He praised Wikileaks to the sky because it circumstantially favored him. But Assange isn't free, and neither is a literal national hero, Snowden.
He just walked out of prison
Assange was released months ago
@Wild. There was nary a peep about it in my feeds. Disgusting how long he spent in some kind of imprisonment. And that he had to plea bargain to get out.
Why would a wanted “criminal mastermind” be using public Wi-Fi at a library?
Because he had to access the internet, where his business was. How else was he gonna do it? If he used his own ISP or his phone, the FBI would have tracked him immediately. Internet cafes and public Wifi was the most anonymous option at the time.
@ how? VPNs were a thing and a lot more effective then. Feds weren’t as tech savvy
@@moneymikzVPNs are not secure. Did you know that the TOR Browser was developed by the Department of Navy? You think they don't have backdoors into the thing they themselves made? VPNs are absolutely worthless as well. Go ask NordVPN how well they were protected...
@@moneymikz keep thinking that, and keep getting busted.
Same reason he distributed cp for billions of dollars between the year of 2009 and 2014, had I known this I never would have supported Donald Trump
And what happens with that criminal judge, who gave him TWO life sentences and 40 years plus? Did she keep her job? And how does she sleep at night?
Probably washed up many more over the years.
He’s freed!!!
This world isn’t ready for this kind of great mind now, I'm not talking about whether what he did was ethical or not. But he truly brought a revolution, and helped us to show a glimpse of future when technology will overtake government.
PIRATE Robert’s lives!
Thank you trump!
Who's here after Trump pardoned him to learn more about Ross and how the government railroaded him?
Congratulations Ross! I always felt really bad for Ross. I mean there are pedoz who get a shorter sentence! 😢
Did people forget about Trump saying he will free Julian Assange?
They forget EVERYTHING. Dude backpedals on everything he says and then the goal post just moves further into another future letdown. It never matters to the people who believe it, it never will.
I hate to break this to you but I don't think anyone is going to come clean with it for a while.
He's been dead since the proof of life controversy.
Stella and the release and his kids; all subterfuge to hide the fact he's dead.
Just like how they forgot how awful Trump's first term was and elected him AGAIN, I swear a lot of Americans have the memory of a goldfish. Trump is a liar and a conman who cares about no one except himself.
@@Pow_FIsh who's dead

It's not "ironic", as Ross wasn't a drug smuggler himself.
U literally discredit urself as a fraud with that comment/link.
Ross is free
We need a complete and utter end to the war on drugs.
The war on drugs is long over. The drugs won.
Anyone back here after Jan 20 2025, Well he kept his word
He case was just the government saying "Hey! You can't do that, that's *our* job!"
You're going to get tired of winning
Never.
The LP won every vote count before the Anschluss. Winning is repealing bad laws
You said Carl Force, but showed a picture of Shaun Bridges, which was the other DEA Agent who went to prison. There's a picture of Carl Force on the same webpage where Bridges picture came from.
you ever meet those people who just seem to attract the right stuff without even trying? i found out a bunch of my friends like that all read Vibrations of Manifestation by alex lane, and now i kinda get it. it’s not about wishful thinking-it’s about aligning your energy with what you really want and trusting the process. since reading it, they’re more grounded and attracting the right people and chances into their lives. if you’re feeling like things aren’t flowing right, this might be worth a look-you never know, it could help turn things around.
I mean, trump said "if you vote for me.." they didn't, they nominated chase oliver
Exactly.
