Well I own one and I can say it's a fun gun , but yeah it's not my first choice for a night stand gun, but that being said if it's all I had i feel it would do the job . It would definitely not be my last choice of all my firearms either. But I got it more for fun . It's a blast to shoot. Also it's a great training tool for new shooters , with the chamber adapters . You can start then off with 22lr work them up through the power scales (also 32acp, 32 short and long, 32 h&r , 380 , 38sp, 9mm ,and of course 45colt and 410). Starting a new shooting off with heavy recoil rounds can be off putting , so starting them with 22lr can ease their never a bit . So with the chamber adapters I think it really has some uses.
I've come to the conclusion that I prefer your 12 min + videos over your 6 min videos. Anything under 12 minutes leaves me wanting more. Thank you for your support.
12 is nice, but I can't help to be excited about the 30 minute long video where he discusses the research he'd done on the study of the results of hundreds of police and self defense shootings. I suspect I'm not the only one.
I cannot adequately express how pleasing it is to see someone who can not only use the word "archetype" correctly (or at all for that matter), but who also properly runs the slide of a pump action shotgun during recoil.
By using the recoil of the shotgun to initiate retraction of the slide, and pushing the slide back into battery with counter recoil, he is ready to fire as soon as his sight is back on target as opposed to most people (at least what I have witnessed) who wait until the shotgun has finished recoiling and then work the slide to chamber another round. "Proper" in this case is synonymous with "most efficient".
When I watch Paul review the Judge, I get the same feeling that i used to get when I'd ask my dad if I could have a big birthday party. He's like, "ugh... I guess we're doing this today."
I had actually briefly considered buying either a Judge or Governor pistol for home defense. I was on the fence until I saw your videos. Common sense prevailed.
Mr. H., This four part series on the Taurus Judge may be among the most in depth studies focused on one gun presented on You Tube. It most thoroughly demonstrated the realistic performance limits of this type of gun and debunked the myths propagated by those that have not taken the effort to objectively examine this 'hybrid' weapon. Very well done sir.
I greatly appreciate your no nonsense approach to assessing the capabilities of weapons and ammunition . You may not read this but I have a request. The 300 blackout has grown in popularity over the last few years and with that has come a lot of miss information and differing results. Could you do an over all assessment of 300 blackout ar15s? I am interested to see it's performance in barrels ranging from 10.5, 16, and 20 inch. Loadings also range from 80 grains to 250 grains. It may be asking alot however, I for one would love to see an in depth analysis of the 300 blackout from you. If you have stumbled upon this comment thank you for your time and consideration and keep up the great work.
I'd like to see this as well. Some say it's perfect for deer hunting, others say no way. I have a 10.5" barrel upper that sits on a pistol lower, and wonder how it would be for a home defense "pistol", should I use subs or supers? I need Paul's superior meat target assessment.
@The Coffee Maker DISCLAIMER by no means am i an expert. I am constantly learning so i can be wrong about things. that being said my current understanding and opinion of the 300 blackout is as follows. 300 blackout is a 30 caliber bullet that has been put on a 5.56 casing. So basically cut the top of a 5.56 casing off and put a .308 bullet on it. This offers many advantages and disadvantages depending on your school of thought. 300 blackout uses faster burning pistol power. This coupled with a larger bore diameter allows for a full powder charge to burn in a shorter barrel. A 5.56 will fully burn out of a 20 inch barrel. As you get shorter you lose velocity, increase muzzle blast, and flash due to unburnt powder exploding when it leaves the barrel. The larger bore of a 300 blackout solves this problem and performs well in a shorter barrel. The 30 cal round also has a higher ballistic coefficient and better sectional density. This aids in barrier penetration and the round carries it's energy farther. The only real downside is muzzle velocity. It's relatively slow and slows down faster due to being larger so past 300 meters or so you'll see a significant increase in bullet drop. Ammo is expensive so if you can't afford to shoot enough to learn your holdovers and become proficient it's defiantly an issue. Huge plus here is that a 300 blackout is 100% compatible with all standard 5.56 ar15 parts, mags, and accessories. All that is different is the barrel. IN MY OPINION a 12.5 inch 300 blackout ar15 with a suppressor is the closest thing you can get to "a do all rifle". It excels suppressed the short barrel/lighter weight lends itself to cqb/long hikes. the round is lethal farther than you can or would shoot it. And if you practice, get good and consistent you can run it out to 700 ish meters. 300 blackout is also just as accurate and cycles just as quickly as 5.56. Over all depending on the ammo the 300 blackout can be a very hard hitting sub sonic gun or can have ballistic nearly identical to the ak47. Leigh high also makes an 80 grain round that is meant for cqb. It's does about 2800 fps out of a 16 inch barrel. Not sure why this couldn't be used as a long range round. In any case the beautiful thing is the capabilities of the rifle can be change with a simple mag change. History: the 300 blackout was originally designed for Socom. It was intended to be used in the mark 18 and also to replaced the mp5 and other pistol caliber sub guns .
"The 30 cal round also has a higher ballistic coefficient and better sectional density ... and slows down faster due to being larger so past 300 meters or so you'll see a significant increase in bullet drop." Wait wait wait. What? A slow-moving bullet in general should be expected to go high at 100 m and low at and beyond 300 m, but if it "has a higher ballistic coefficient and better sectional density" it should be retaining kinetic energy and velocity better, and maintaining a near-parabolic trajectory, like a cricket ball compared to a badminton shuttlecock.
I don’t know if you’ll even see this, but thank you. I appreciate all of your judge videos. I’ve been thinking about picking one up, and am now still thinking I will buy one for the simple fact that I think it’s neat. But your videos have been very helpful in my decision on how to apply this handgun. I appreciate your commentary, and demonstrations as always. Thanks for what you do.
"Because I think it's neat" is a far better reason to buy a Taurus Judge than "because I think it's a super awesome pocket shotgun that will magically slay my foes and impress the ladies."
I've considered buying a Taurus Judge as an alternative to a 12 ga Mossberg shockwave, and... I gotta say I am grateful for how informed your videos on this gun have been! I've got a Taurus 692 (which I stick with 38 spl just for comfort's sake) and wanted a... convincing backup. That idea has gone out the window just by your tests alone! Thanks again for a not only entertaining assessment, but it may end up saving my family's life because I didn't go with a novelty for defense! God bless, Paul!
Great video Paul. Would be interesting to see the 410 ammunition you used for the Taurus through you 410 mossberg. Then compare that to conventional 410 ammunition
Jeff Welton I’ll be honest I can’t fully remember, but not sure if Paul would read or answer the comment anyway. I thought he just used standard 410 shotgun ammunition for the 410 shotgun video
I love this channel, as so many others have said it is so underrated! It's amazing to me how Paul speaks so well so fast. He could make extra money doing fine print reading for commercials. 😂
I figured out why I love Paul's channel so much. He reminds me of my dad. When the 9mm got super popular because of gangster rap music the neighbor boy kept talking it up so dad devised an experiment. He took grandma's broken cement Deer lawn ornament. Put the 9mm cylinder in his Ruger blackhawk and took a couple chips out of it. He borrowed Grandpa's colt 1911 and made huge divots. Then put the .357 cylinder back in the blackhawk and cracked the statue. After that he was having so much fun busting Timmy's illusions of 9mm power he grabbed his Springfield 30'06. Went up on the roof and took a 150 yard shot at the undamaged half of the statue and shattered it to 6 pieces.
Had the same reaction. After 4 years of watching, I just saw the hour-long test of 22 LR ammo. When my dad had a job that needed doing (such as honey-do...) he would get that same look.
Totally missing the point!🤢 Different calibers / loads / etc have different uses!🙄 ALWAYS, any specific type / size round will fit a use that IT WAS DESIGNED FOR!😁 A .357 Magnum and an M14 are DESIGNED for different purposes!🤪🤪
I'm always excited about Paul's new video but always disappointed when over... hate waiting for the next post.. Great video again Paul keep up the great work!
Paul you are a joy to watch and even more of one to watch shooting a pump i've seen it before but never so smoothly. the way you harness the recoil to pump in the next round to this newbie is next level
Thank you for posting so many videos on the Judge... I bought one last year and have LOVED every shot - I mostly shoot 45 LC and the Critical Defense rounds (that you couldn't find locally). The main reason I bought it was because out of the 100+ firearms I held, it was the MOST comfortable in my hand. I was a little offended in the first two videos, but I understand and agree with pretty much all of it. I really appreciate the way you make videos, you have a real talent for conveying information. I wish you worked at every gun shop and range, can you clone your brain? lol
Mr. Harrell once again you are spot-on with your analysis of the Taurus Judge. I once purchased a judge and found it to be a Conversation Piece / range toy more than for protection. I have a friend that thought the Taurus Judge was the greatest CCW pistol in the world. Being a friend I had to prove him wrong so we tested his judge against my Taurus model 605 357 Magnum that is half the size and weight on water jugs and ballistics gel. Yes up close the 410 disintegrated the first jug but hardly damaged the 2nd jug. I don't have to say what the 357 Magnum done to the jugs and gel. He doesn't carry his judge anymore. thanks for the awesome video. Stay safe out there my friend.
I just stumbled across this youtube channel. I'm about half way through all of your videos. I really appreciate you. These are great videos with a wealth of knowledge. Keep up the good work.
Ya" know? These are really very good videos! No bias, no preaching, just solid advice and information.......and lot's and lots of boom-boom which everyone likes!
I love this guy's videos!!! He always looks at things from angles nobody else does and makes valid points but also doesn't come off as a know it all that demands you to agree with him.
@MrZippy, ok see you're tryin' to start somethin'!!! I really don't think we'd want to see that match up... It's ok in the cartoon universe of Dragon Ball Z but irl, these two titans would destroy the world just from being in the same room... It would make a cool comic book though ;)
I've seen the video you are talking about with the 1700 shootings study. Would definitely like to see a video where you dive into some of those findings..great vid as usual Paul.
I just got done watching all 4 parts of the Taurus Judge videos. They were very interesting Paul H. Liked your observations. Just for info's sake I'd like to say that I just got done cleaning my 12 guage model 500's barrel. It was very dirty and I couldn't hit well with it during a dove hunt that came up at the spur of the moment. Missed almost everything I shot at. I patterned the dirty shotgun on a black tape X, on some newspaper. My jaw dropped. I saw one of the splochiest pellet patterns I had ever seen. I actually got worried the shotgun choke or the barrel were no good. After removing the barrel and looking down it I took a cleaning rod and a 12 guage brush and chucked it in my drill and gave it a good cleaning. Patterned it again and the modified choke pattern appeared nice and tight again, when I held up the newspaper to the sun. Wheewh. The moral of the story is, to those new shooters, shotguns need to be cleaned regularly also.
Watching Paul operate weaponry is breathtaking. That slight back tension during the shots out of the mossberg gives the shooter that immediate reset. Lovely. For other bonus appreciation, I recommend paying attention to his breathing rhythm on videos where he's laying prone and taking multiple shots.
I guess the video you're talking about is "The Best Handgun Caliber - A Real World Study", I noticed the same jump to conclusions about the .410 revolver. I also noticed that all rifle calibers are in the same stat, which is not ideal.
The real take away is the Remington .357 Magnum "Green & White" box 125 grain semi jacketed hollow point is still one of the most brutal rounds on the market.
Check out Buffalo Bore's brand new 180 grain *JHP* - YES, ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY GRAIN JACKETED HOLLOW POINT! - load. Now that is hot! Realistically, it should do 1300-1325 fps from a 4" revolver.
I like Buffalo Bore a lot. I have to pull a Paul-ism here and say that hyper-velocity (Is there such a thing?) .357 Magnum ammunition can be a bit much, especially in a 4 inch revolver. I have no problem using it my .357 rifles, in fact, it is ideal. I can find the Remington Green & White on sale at my local Wal-Mart for $46.00 for 100 rounds. The Buffalo Bore is usually $30+ for 20 rounds. At the end of the day, that Remington .357 Magnum Green & White box 125 grain SJHP load gets my vote for best bang for the buck. YMMV and I am not an expert.
+Daniel Martin. I agree with everything you wrote. The Remington 125 grain JHP ammo is a tried and rightfully popular one. I just want to invite you for a thrill. Look at these numbers of the BB 180 grain JHP load: ➤ 1,258 fps -- S&W model 66-4, 2.5-inch ➤ 1,351 fps -- S&W model 65-5, 3-inch ➤ 1,356 fps -- S&W Mt. Gun, 4-inch ➤ 1,501 fps -- Ruger GP 100, 6-inch ➤ 1,840 fps -- Marlin 1894, 18-inch The nerve of Tim Sundles! These loads are certainly close to, if not above 50,000 psi, yet he has got the balls to write down that *"This ammo is no harder on your gun than any other normal 357 ammo."* Obviously he has forgotten what "any other normal 357 ammo" includes.
+Daniel Martin. As to the high price of BB ammo - I find their prices reasonable. After all, you are paying Tim Sundles for being brave for you. Very brave. :-)
That was one of the best comparison videos! Loaded with solid information. I just bought a box of .410 000 Buck last night to try out in my wife's .410! :-D
From my view, I think what the Judge does differently for a hangun is it hit a target with 5 potential fight stoppers with one shot. I've seen them in gel and they do 38 special numbers each. 18 inches is really impressive and shootingthebull was getting almost 20 for each pellet. That's potent with more chances to touch a vital organ. A cylinder dump at close range would be absolutely devastating in a house situation.. Seems the weight of the gun soaks up recoil well too for follow up shots
Thank you Paul. You have never disappointed me. Always entertaining and informative while featuring content that is actually useful. Don't change a thing. I'm really looking forward to your analysis of that 10 year study, as I found it to be very interesting......you threatened us with a 20min talk? Bring it. I'm good with a 2 hour talk.
I think it's beyond time that people just accept this gun for what it is. It can be a cool fun-gun for plinking on the weekend, if it appeals to you that is. If you already own one, you can still take heart in knowing that you can defend yourself with it, given the right ammo, and yes there are lots of better alternatives but if you aren't in a position to trade this in for something else, just make the best of what you have. Same goes for a .22 LR, or a .500 S&W mag. I wouldn't choose any of those for HD or PD, but if that's what you got, just make it work, and have some fun with it at the range.
The judge is the katana of the sword world. Everyone loves to hate on it because a few people blew it out of proportions. It’s still fun and works just fine if you know what you are using it for.
I personally see the Taurus Judge as an interesting mini-Shotgun revolver. Lacks the full potential of both Revolver or Shotgun, but it feels it´s doing its hybrid-job nice enough, especially if you intend to not kill an home-intruder right away but likely to incapacitate someone.
The video is 11 mins long and uploaded 5 mins ago. Already 42 likes and 200 views. I see what’s going on here. I am guilty too. I hit the like button first and then started to watch it.
I agree. It just makes sense. I mean the man gives us info that you can't get on any other channel. Might as well help him make as much money as possible because we get an education here that we will absolutely not get anywhere else or doing ourselves. He literally has medals from the Marine Corp for being a pistol and rifle expert.
I recently discovered this channel via a friend’s suggestion when asking him some questions about the Taurus Judge. I love the content and have watched several other videos outside of the Taurus Judge. I watched all 4 Taurus Judge videos you made on and know that they are old, but I wanted to post this question here, and on the other 3 videos, in hopes of getting a response from someone. One point of discussion you mentioned was, “What are you buying this gun for?” To answer, I want to buy a ‘squirrel gun.’ When I am archery deer hunting, and not seeing deer, I get tempted to shoot a squirrel, or other small game (rabbit, quail, dove). Some of shots would be ‘up’ so firing a single projectile ballistic would not be safe and I need to fire shot. Carrying a proper shotgun while I’m archery hunting is not practical, but a sidearm would be. Since I don’t want an illegal ‘sawed off shotgun’ a 410 handgun might do the trick. I recently saw a 6.5” barrel Taurus Judge, cheap, at a gun store. But would I have enough lethal energy, accuracy, shot spread at a target that’s upwards of 20 to 25 yards away? Having watched your videos I dare say would 10-15 yards away be effective on small game? I think what I want is impossible, by the laws of physics, let alone man. What does the internet think about a “squirrel-dove handgun”?
I just saw your question. we have a presentation on my top five survival guns. it features patterning the judge on a paper target at 10 yards. I think it will answer your pattern question. as for power, I'll see what I can put together.
@@PaulHarrell Paul I would like for you to address the Judge's advantage of a single shot delivering 5 deadly wounds that take different paths inside the body. I think that is a distinct advantage for a handgun when considering how densely packed and close vital structures are. There are so many situations where a survivor from a gunshot wound says "well the bullet was only a 1/2 from my heart etc." Your chances of being able to say that from that 5 pellet 000 buck at home defenses is close to zero. I know, I know, full length shotguns do it better, but for a HANDGUN this is unique.
@@bmx7596 I watched gel test and the pellets do hit in a tight pattern, but they spread out in different directions after impact. So at 7 yards like Paul mentioned, the spread is maybe a few inches at most, but I notice toward the end of their path in gel, that spread branches out another few inches wider. So that's really good in terms of increasing the chances of touching a vital structure. What I liked in another video is the house defense follow up shots. Guy was pumping out follow ups fast in a tight pattern. Even just a quick double tap is 8 impacts, and those buckshot are no slouch individually in gel.
I said it before, and I'll say it again: I can hit a target from 7 yards, I don't need it to spread out, at 25 yards hitting a moving target while your adrenalin is pumping, the spread DOES increase your hit probability Not for Paul, but for everyone else. And at further ranges I couldn't make accurate shots anyway. Now does this make the judge a good option? No, it's big, heavy and has a low capacity And the benefit it gives fades away if you learn to shoot well (hence why Paul hates it)
I have never been in a gunfight, but I have shot a lot of big game over my 50+ years of hunting. Every single shot was unique to that time, place and conditions at the time. I would think that every defensive shooting would also be unique to the time place and conditions at the time. The Taurus Judge is more of a novelty firearm in my opinion than not. Yeah, it's useful for maybe dispatching the odd snake in the course of your workday. I will say I don't hold Taurus guns in very high regard, so take my observations for what it is and is not.
I own a Taurus Judge, the Public Defender, and everything I have seen on all the Taurus Judge parts are exactly what I have seen with my own Judge. It loves Federal 000 buck and the Hornady Critical Defense .45LC ammo. It also does very well with all types of bird shot. Anything else it doesn't do very well, including the Winchester PDX ammo. Great video.
When I heard him describe the "ammunition recommendations" he was going to be accommodating, I was hoping that was going to be one of them. I agree that it would probably be the most effective.
If you want to shoot .45 revolvers ditch the Judge and get a 460 Magnum. With it you can shoot .45 Colt, .454 Cassul, and 460 Mag, all of which are far more effective than the 410 shot from a revolver.
@@Zundfolge double action over single action, maybe. Speed of reload may also be a possibility. Price also may factor. If i had all the money in the world i would buy an anaconda is 45lc if i wanted a 45lc to carry.
"I am not a professional" However based on my observation, the 12 gauge shotgun has clearly killed the meat target! Another great video Paul, keep up the good work!
Paul, I absolutely love your channel. One suggestion: when you make multi part videos could you put links to the other videos in the description? I can find the first 3 judge videos and the first gun fight stats video via search, but it would be so much more convenient if the links to the videos were in the description. Again, you have the best gun channel on youtube. Thank you for all you do.
Can you do a video on AR15 pistols? Particularly 7" barrel variants. I keep hearing people say that barrel length is about as effective as a .22LR and useless but never have any data to back up those claims.
For .223 Remington / 5.56 NATO, a 55-grain bullet from a 7" barrel reaches about 2,200 FPS, so it's _way_ more effective than a .22 LR. It falls between the power of a .22 Magnum and a .22 Hornet when those are fired from typical rifle-length barrels. What brings a .223 down to the power of a .22 LR is a 3" barrel. Then you're looking at about 1,100 FPS for a 55-grain bullet.
I'm REALLY ENJOYING the new alternate Paul Harrell *Taurus Judge Channel.* And I'm looking forward to the upcoming Paul Harrell *Animal Ghosts Channel.* Keep up the great work on all three channels.
I look forward to a new 20 minute long video where all you do is talk. I'm 31, I've been shooting since I was 12 and I still learn things from your videos. I really appreciate them. Anyway, I wonder if you'll ever do a video about ammunition malfunctions, unless you already have in that case I missed it or forgot. I wouldn't expect you to try to replicate a dangerous malfunction. But I've had a squib load with good factory .25 ammo before. And I've had the entire back of a .22lr casing blow off and throw powder and fire in my face while shooting a lever action .22 rifle before. I was lucky to have my sunglasses on that day, because I had been complacent about wearing eyes and ears while shooting .22 rifles. Now I ALWAYS wear both no matter what I'm shooting. This happened just a couple years ago, and I'd have never expected it. So I wonder if you'll do a video about what can go wrong while shooting.
Great display as usual, thank you. Luckily a friend owned a Judge and I was able to test one for myself to see if I wanted one years ago. I found similar issues,,only pattern decent was under 7yds. Also the rifling I believe being shallow grooved made the .45 ammo difficult for me to get adequate accuracy. I still would never want to get shot with one,,no matter if it doesn't add up to my .357 Magnum or not...My visions of hitting a dove with birdshot with a revolver were quickly diminished...lol!
it'll do fine, but regular revolver rounds are better. And don't forget, all 4 000 buck pellets combined have about the same muzzle energy as a 40sw, and each individual pellet has about the same energy as a .22lr.
One thing to mention, is that two projectiles equating to the same overall energy, is not the same as one projectile with double the energy. The single projectile in this case is far more effective than the two.
I appreciate what you said, Paul, about not using the results of studies to prove a point that their parameters do not support. However, I am thinking of buying a judge based on something I learned from one of your videos. You explored different options for shooting from underneath the covers of a bed. It appeared as though a revolver was a good option. Also, I don't know about everyone else's houses, perhaps my house is very modest compared to some viewers, but in mine, if I'm indoors, I'm very rarely going to shoot anyone from 7 yards away. Under 4 yards would probably more likely if my assailant was inside my home. And for that purpose, it seems like the rapid spread I would get with #4 buck--and indeed, lower velocity, and subsequently decreased likelihood of over penetration compared to a full size shotgun--would be preferable in that circumstance: indoors, possibly from bed, and at a distance of less than 4 yards.
I absolutely like watching these Taurus judge videos Paul 👍. I have a public defender poly. The best ammo is solid 410 slugs & 45LC ammo. The hype ammo is too much $ & doesn't look good when going to court. The Judge & Governor are for Close combat. Great video Paul.
I own a 3" Taurus Raging Judge chambered in 410, 45 Colt and 454 Casull. I enjoy shooting it when I can get ammunition for it. But I am forced by my own integrity to agree with Mr Harrell, there is nothing the Judge does that a conventional revolver doesn't do better. I am at a point in my life (72 years old) that I don't have to justify a gun purchase as filling a "NEED" . I have all the guns I need to fill every perceived NEED. Now I buy guns that interest me, like my Shockwave, I always wanted a "sawed off shotgun" just because. I would never deliberately use it for defense. I can see the prosecutor now holding up my evil sawed off shotgun for the jury to see. Nothing my attorney could say would wipe that image from their minds and they have all seen movies an tv shows that demonstrate how much more deadly and powerful a sawed off shotgun is than a normal shotgun. So why make my attorney's job harder just so I can use a less efficient weapon? What I'm saying is in my opinion some guns are just cool range toys and some are efficient practical tools. It is every gun owners responsibility to decide which is which. As the old saying goes "don't shoot the messenger" so don't get angry at someone like Mr Harrell, whose only real crime is giving us his honest opinion. He never said you can't use your Judge to hunt Grizzly bears with if you want, he just said in his opinion their are better tools for any job you might want to use your Judge for.
Good comment. I admit, I am dismayed to see Paul's results, as I had gotten a deal on Public Defender {put nice Hogue grips on it}, and hate to see when stats don't look good. But, I am in your age group, and I do the same thing when buying guns, so I enjoy having various guns. For years I felt guilty owning a Berretta Tomcat, since everyone says 32 acp isn't good enough for defense. But, I kept the gun because I like it and it shoots good, and I bet I can unload a mag in a nice group if I were to defend myself, leaving the perp with a nice hole in them. I will keep the Judge, because there may be a new load that may bring it up to par, and beyond that, I have use for a short range shotgun-like pistol.
I mean just listen to what you're saying. How would it be possible that a revolver could outdo several other revolvers in their specific roles at the same time? Sounds impossible, and the fact that the Judge comes very close in several areas independently is crazy impressive and makes me want to buy one
I love Paul Harrell. He’s so I good I rewatch his videos. Best gun channel on RUclips. Wish he could make more videos. I don’t even care if it’s all talking.
@@AlexKS1992 Congrats on using they're in a sentence, albeit incorrectly! I never see they're used anymore anywhere, I just see "there" used as a possessive pronoun.
When the Judge came out I thought it had a cool factor and I was somewhat upset I couldn't get one in CA (short barreled shotgun not legal in CA). Thanks to Paul, and it only took 4 videos, you have reduced the Judge to an ok gun to shoot snakes at 6 feet away. If I'm going to carry something that big it would definitely be a 4" 357 or a 1911. If you make part five, it's a vendetta! But I'll still watch it.
@Seth... Well, if you wanna go with a movie or tv show referenced firearm then go with a Charter Arms .44 snub with Glaser Safety Slugs a la 'Manhunter' 1986.
The judge is the most versatile handgun on the market. It can be used for a paper weight, a door stop or it can anchor a small boat.
Excellent
I heard they made one with a bottle opener on it.
The 12 gauge would be better in all those situations too.
@@andywilson8698 The Judge definitely has its place as a fun range toy if you can snag one for a reasonable price
Never stop describing the meat target.
“Pork chop pectorals” “new and improved high tech fleece bullet stop”, that will never stop making me laugh
I've come to the conclusion that I prefer your 12 min + videos over your 6 min videos. Anything under 12 minutes leaves me wanting more. Thank you for your support.

A SIMPLY BRILLIANT RESPONSE
12 is nice, but I can't help to be excited about the 30 minute long video where he discusses the research he'd done on the study of the results of hundreds of police and self defense shootings. I suspect I'm not the only one.
I cannot adequately express how pleasing it is to see someone who can not only use the word "archetype" correctly (or at all for that matter), but who also properly runs the slide of a pump action shotgun during recoil.
Not that difficult.
you stole my comment ! his gun handling is so well practiced and correct, I'm impressed.
Amen!
And the reason it is "proper"?
By using the recoil of the shotgun to initiate retraction of the slide, and pushing the slide back into battery with counter recoil, he is ready to fire as soon as his sight is back on target as opposed to most people (at least what I have witnessed) who wait until the shotgun has finished recoiling and then work the slide to chamber another round. "Proper" in this case is synonymous with "most efficient".
When I watch Paul review the Judge, I get the same feeling that i used to get when I'd ask my dad if I could have a big birthday party. He's like, "ugh... I guess we're doing this today."
"Dad, boys can wear dresses, too, right?"
".....Unnnnnggggggggrrrrrrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Paul: Let's see how the 12 gauge does on the meat target.
Me: Oh baby.
"How will our 12 gauge perform when shooting the meat target? Let's put that to the test". Well, that's an instant smash of the like button.
I'd really enjoy that video. I just built a .300 aac AR pistol for deer hunting. (Some areas are pistol/shotgun only and would rather carry this)
I'd like to see this as well. Some say it's perfect for deer hunting, others say no way. I have a 10.5" barrel upper that sits on a pistol lower, and wonder how it would be for a home defense "pistol", should I use subs or supers? I need Paul's superior meat target assessment.
Honestly I don't have much interest in the round but that would be a fun video to watch!
It was intended to be used in the mark 18 and also to replaced the mp5 and other pistol caliber sub guns
.
Coming Soon... The Taurus District Attorney 12 gauge.....
Hahaha! I probably laughed too hard at this, but it was a good 'un.
What about the Taurus Associate Justice Ginsberg? Seems like a thoroughly unpleasant gun.
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣👍♥️😎
Pretty sure that one would be called the Taurus Murder-Suicide.
History Book Reviews that version would be entirely useless and blame all the misses on another firearm not even at the range.
Can you carry the Shockwave out and about? How is maneuvering it around tight spaces?
Great video Paul. Would be interesting to see the 410 ammunition you used for the Taurus through you 410 mossberg. Then compare that to conventional 410 ammunition
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I believe Paul shot the same ammo through a .410 Mossberg in his .410 shotgun video.
Ok, so what you're saying is, we need a 12 gauge Taurus Judge.
You may wanna watch this video that contains a 12 gauge Rossi pistol ruclips.net/video/fQR21EcH8Rs/видео.html
I think that was a Call of Duty gun
One google search later, Taurus was going to sell a Raging Judge in 28 gauge but it never happened
Rossi 12 gauge handgun, Aguila mini shells, meat target...Around here, you have to make your own entertainment.
You are a beautiful genius!
Totally missing the point!🤢
Different calibers / loads / etc have different uses!🙄
ALWAYS, any specific type / size round will fit a use that IT WAS DESIGNED FOR!😁
A .357 Magnum and an M14 are DESIGNED for different purposes!🤪🤪

Me too.
HAPPY THORSDAY!! Another wonderful offering from the always entertaining and informative Mr. Harrell.

Mr. Harrell is a national treasure.
Thanks for your efforts Paul. Great video
Nice work, Paul. You and Forgotten Weapons are the only gun vids I regularly watch now.
The real take away is the Remington .357 Magnum "Green & White" box 125 grain semi jacketed hollow point is still one of the most brutal rounds on the market.
My favorite 357 Magnum ammo. Loaded HOT and they expand very well.
Look at these numbers of the BB 180 grain JHP load:
➤ 1,258 fps -- S&W model 66-4, 2.5-inch
➤ 1,351 fps -- S&W model 65-5, 3-inch
➤ 1,356 fps -- S&W Mt. Gun, 4-inch
➤ 1,501 fps -- Ruger GP 100, 6-inch
➤ 1,840 fps -- Marlin 1894, 18-inch
The nerve of Tim Sundles!
In the shotgun the 000 buck is very effective. Out of the judge it loses a little.
Yes sir, Thanks for sharing your knowledge and providing these awesome videos :-D
Best 12 minutes of my day. Thank you.
Paul, I've really enjoyed your channel. Thanks for putting this out.
Paul is such a breath of fresh air. God bkess him and his crew. Im off to find a striker 12...
The day went from average to excellent. Thx Paul.
I wouldn't choose any of those for HD or PD, but if that's what you got, just make it work, and have some fun with it at the range.
.45Colt has been putting down bad guys for more than a century 🤪💯 .410 Is just a bonus 🤔😂 can use it for snake's and Wabbit
@@davep5227 Yup, absolutely. It could be an excellent trail gun.

I keep waiting for the video explaining "Just as powerful!" with the arm swing.
Another good one Paul, good job, love the commentaries.
It's a concealable shotgun...not the most powerful but you can pack buckshot around the waistband..

Disappointed that Paul has yet to find the time to do an in-depth analysis of the animal ghosts’ study. Unsubbed.

I said it before, and I'll say it again:
I can hit a target from 7 yards, I don't need it to spread out, at 25 yards hitting a moving target while your adrenalin is pumping, the spread DOES increase your hit probability
Not for Paul, but for everyone else.
And at further ranges I couldn't make accurate shots anyway.
Now does this make the judge a good option?
No, it's big, heavy and has a low capacity
And the benefit it gives fades away if you learn to shoot well (hence why Paul hates it)
The advantage is inside a home. Multiple wound cavities per one trigger pull. Buckshot is very accurate and hits very hard out of Judge
Paul Harrell videos always make for a good day 👍
I have never been in a gunfight, but I have shot a lot of big game over my 50+ years of hunting.
Absolutely correct!
You pretty much summed up the whole thing.
My favorite shooting channel. Thanks Paul
LMAO with the last two shots with the shotgun.

Taurus Judge part IV, the final nail in the coffin!
Just curious... Have you tested the Lehigh Defense 45 Colt Maximum Expansion for the Judge? It may actually be the best defensive round for the Judge.
When I heard him describe the "ammunition recommendations" he was going to be accommodating, I was hoping that was going to be one of them. I agree that it would probably be the most effective.
DAVID Holec they expand too much to get enough penetration to reliably perforate vital organs due to the increased drag.
If you want to shoot .45 revolvers ditch the Judge and get a 460 Magnum. With it you can shoot .45 Colt, .454 Cassul, and 460 Mag, all of which are far more effective than the 410 shot from a revolver.
If you're buying a Judge to shoot .45 colt, why not just buy a .45 colt revolver (or as other have suggested a .460)?
@@Zundfolge double action over single action, maybe. Speed of reload may also be a possibility. Price also may factor. If i had all the money in the world i would buy an anaconda is 45lc if i wanted a 45lc to carry.

"I am not a professional" However based on my observation, the 12 gauge shotgun has clearly killed the meat target! Another great video Paul, keep up the good work!
Paul, I absolutely love your channel. One suggestion:
when you make multi part videos could you put links to the other videos in the description? I can find the first 3 judge videos and the first gun fight stats video via search, but it would be so much more convenient if the links to the videos were in the description.
Again, you have the best gun channel on youtube. Thank you for all you do.
I actually should have addressed this to Brad Nelson.
Last summer I shot a groundhog through the head at 50 yards with an AR with a 7.5 inch barrel, that's all the data I need to prove it's effectiveness.
I'm REALLY ENJOYING the new alternate Paul Harrell *Taurus Judge Channel.*
And I'm looking forward to the upcoming Paul Harrell *Animal Ghosts Channel.*
Keep up the great work on all three channels.
The Taurus "You Be The" Judge.
5:50 I see what you did there, Paul. 😂
Ditch the .410 for real personal defense....Get a good quality .357 magnum with at least a 3" barrel. Then practice with it, end of subject.
yeah
Federal .000 buck will do the job just fine,and yes I also own a 4.2" GP100 .357.
it'll do fine, but regular revolver rounds are better. And don't forget, all 4 000 buck pellets combined have about the same muzzle energy as a 40sw, and each individual pellet has about the same energy as a .22lr.
I'll stick with my high cap auto loader, 16 +1 beats 6 any day.
As I said, for some people in some situations the Judge works. Sounds like you're one of those people.
Every time I see that intro, I want to get a plaid suit jacket.
The athletic stance is a bonus
I agree, there are better tools for the job.
I think it’s interesting reading all the Judge fan boy comments.
They don’t like me or others for not liking their prized novelty gun.
@@AlexKS1992 Congrats on using they're in a sentence, albeit incorrectly! I never see they're used anymore anywhere, I just see "there" used as a possessive pronoun.
@@Hjerte_Verke Fixed it.
"Animal ghosts!" Ha ha ha ha! You crack me up, Mr. Harrell. Love your videos. Keep up the good work.
Well done and broken down.
That's it...I am selling my Taurus judge,it looked so cool in "better call Saul", Tucco had one... I should've bought a Mossberg shockwave
Might want to reconsider the shockwave too. It is mostly a useless gimmick.
PS, not just my opinion: ruclips.net/video/IlBKWYOxzMY/видео.html
@Seth... Well, if you wanna go with a movie or tv show referenced firearm then go with a Charter Arms .44 snub with Glaser Safety Slugs a la 'Manhunter' 1986.
I got your joke bro. Don't worry.
Sad to hear. What state is that?
I'd never want to get into a gun fight with Phil. He's the best shot on RUclips.
Bob Ross of gun channels strikes again.
Thanks for all the work you go to in making these videos that benefit the shooting community.
What the Taurus Judge does as well or better than any other handgun in existence is to provide copious fodder for RUclips videos/comments.
I look forward to Taurus Judge part 5 and beyond. Just to see your expression
