For political reasons, Yugoslavia (Serbia) was banned from competing in Olympic Games 1992, Eurobasket1993, World Cup 1994.
The Lithuanians and others hoped that a strong Yugoslavia would not play the Eurobasket in 1995. But Yugoslavia finally got place where should be.
Lithuanians want so much to take their first gold after independence (1991). They put referees under pressure, they act like bitches, but nothing - they lost again vs Yugoslavia (Serbia) at Eurobasket1995.
      Referees against Yugoslavia (Serbia):
      1) 1:02 Where is the personal foul for Marciulionis?
      2) 7:28 Where is the personal foul for Sabonis?
Divac yells on referee-technical foul for Divac.
      Free throws for Lithuania.
      3) Divac - personal foul for nothing.
      21:28
      4) 42:30 Elbow in face. Where is personal foul for Sabonis ?
      Sabonis - 2 p. Yugoslav bench - technical foul.
      5) 53:34 Sabonis wants free throws for nothing, then yells on the referee. (He got a technical foul because that). Then he acted like a bitch!
      6) 56:16 Divac - personal foul 5 for nothing. End game for him.
56:49 Look at the left hand of the Lithuanian player with number 14 - He is on the shoulder of Vlad Divac all the time.
      7) 1:12:29 Yugoslavia attacking. Djordjevic personnal foul for nothing.
      ...
      * Divac excluded before Sabonis.
      * Sabonis (excluded) was on the bench. He threw the towel on the court. Referees - technical foul for Lithuanians.
      Than starting the mess.

Very unfriendly and hostile behaviour from the Greek fans, Croatian players crying like babies and taking political instruction to step out of the podium, instead of receiving the medals and respecting the competition. Titanic performance by Marciulonis. 3. Once-in-a-million-years performance by Djordjevic. FIBA, you cut the scenes where he went to the opponents' bench to call them back after the escalation. Amidst the havoc and pressure he had the coolness of a diplomat. Two great teams and great basketball nations. I previously commented... Lithuania had a better team and, boy, did those greats (Šarunas, Sabas, Chomičus, Rimas) deserve a gold after all they won for the USSR. But Serbia stood in the way thanks to Đorđević and some luck. Although refs made some bad calls, it went both ways. The crowd actually did a bad favor to Lithuania, as they started losing energy on referees instead on focusing on the opponent... At any rate, we in Serbia VERY much respect Lithuania and Lithuanians and cherish their incredible knack and talent for the game. Sabonis, Marčiulionis and (especially) Jasikevičius are deemed legends.

FIBA conveniently leaves out the Lithuanian team protest in the final minutes of the game where they up and walked off court not caring about the result anymore. George Toliver's refereeing was abhorrent and faulty for both teams. At 1:12:57 Stobergas' made shot was not counted by Toliver. Lithuanians protested and Marciulionis was given a technical foul. That's when Lithuania had enough and walked off the court - it took Dordevic to convince Lithuanians to come back on court - in a sinking ship thanks to Toliver.
Had this historically important moment been included - everyone could easily understand the tone and mentality of teams at that point. Much respect to Serbia and Lithuania for the most amazing final of fiba euro history. If only it could have been played fully and genuinely in the last 2 minutes most of all..

I watched this video few times, yes there were many mistakes by the ref on both sides, but still i didnt see the reason for Lithuanians to behave in such manner... They were constantly arguing and yelling at the refs when losing... That Stombergas offensive foul 2 and a half minutes before end, was so obvious, you can see that YU player no 13 was with his hands down and both feet on the ground... Show some class, you lost fair and square. Divac was fouled out for no reason 12 minutes before the end and Sabonis just 5 minutes before the end, also for suspicious fouls... But to say that war torn Yugoslavia bought this title is just stupid... Regarding the Croats, they were ordered by their government to step down... After that they never got back on and they wont any time soon... The only thing that bothered me as a Serb was Greek audience... They were salty after we've beaten them in the semis and pushed Lithuanians to constantly argue with the refs creating enormous pressure on them... In the end better team won after all...

Djordjevic personnal foul for nothing.
    ...
    * Divac excluded before Sabonis.
    * Sabonis (excluded) was on the bench. He threw the towel on the court. Referees - technical foul for Lithuanians.
    Than starting the mess.

Responsible for the first slaughter on European soil since WW2... should have been banned even longer.
But probably great connections into FIBA organization saved them

I understand this was during the times of the "softest" basketball..but even under those terms this was the worst judging referees ever, must say judging was biassed 60% towards Lithuania..40% towards Yugoslavia , sorry Lithuanian fans but your team was slightly favored here by the referees..anyways, this game could have been much better, it was simply destroyed by the referees or because of the ones above them..ex-basketball referee here!
