  • I took this on the Rockabilly Hall Of Fame stage. This show is regarded as one of the best Rockabilly shows to have been seen at Viva Las Vegas. Thanks to Tom Ingram for running the event and to Bob Timmers for setting up the Rockabilly Hall Of Fame stage and getting the artists to appear on it.

Now that was what you call cool!!! Paul Burlison sharing those tasty licks and Rocky singing up a storm. Nothing like 50's Rockabilly; directly responsible for Rock 'n' Roll.

I got to meet Paul Burlison when he opened for some forgettable neo-rockabilly band at the LV Hard Rock Café in the early '90's. A real Southern Gentleman and primal eccentric guitar mad scientist. The assembled neo-jockasillies totally ignored him and didn't come inside until the pretty boy headliners came on. Sadly typical.

They're taking a knee! Good to see Burlison's playing has improved over the years. He certainly has had enough time.

PAUL BURLISON NOT GRADY MARTIN PLAYED THIS STUFF TONS OF LIVE PERFORMANCES TO PROVE IT THESE LICKS SOUND NOTHING LIKE MARTIN

Tru-ish. Paul Burlison played on Tear It Up. Grady Martin played on Train Kept A-Rollin. Both good recordings, both respectable guitar players. But only one of them is legendary: Grady Martin. Best analysis I've ever seen is here: www.the-jime.dk/Rockabilly_Guitar/Johnny_Burnette_The_Rock-n-Roll_Trio.htm However, you only need to listen to a handful of other songs GM played on yourself to know who played all the JBT stuff that "wows" you on the guitar. PB's stuff was good workman like playing typical of the Memphis rockabilly heyday. Martin, on the other hand, just blows you out of the water on those recordings. But you can't deny PB is having a good time here - great to see!

this guy in the jime is a flake train kepy a rollin was played by paul not grady this jime guy guy isnt even american i have bee playing gutar 30+ and i am american been told by many who were where paul played all these songs the style of playing isn't even close to grady martin a great player but not rock he played country

    • @dcmason6600

That's cool you think that, but it's just not true. Anyone who knows guitar and rock history _well_ knows Grady Martin played both rockabilly and country. And you only have to grab a few of the rockabilly tracks he played on to know without a doubt who plays the majority of the JB stuff. I used to think the same thing as you, but do the research, listen to some records. The truth is self-evident.
"These licks sound nothing like Martin" but the licks on the records do sound exactly like Martin. If you can't hear that, you can't _hear_ man.
