I was luke warm going into this piece. Listening to it, the music is complex and understates the incredible synchronicitiy between accomplished musicians. This is a fun song...one people can easily deep six or negate as masterful. But, listen to temp changes, changes in key and harmonies on the instruments. This band is tight. They are spoofing which ought not ever fool the listener. These musicians are some of the best. They are having fun and it looks effortless but they've worked many decades, millions of hours to make it look this effortless in this piece. Thanks Gizmodrome!
That's my thought. These guys have traveled the entire world and made a fortune. Now they have the freedom to do whatever the hell they want to do and have fun with it. More power to them. I play the hell out of this disc.
Really well said. It took me a while to get used to Stewart's vocals and I'll admit they would have turned me off completely if not for that the musicianship is through the roof. Then when you pair Stewarts voice with Mark and the other backing vocals, the contrast makes them sound so much more sweeter and consonant. I basically see Stewart as the story teller and the rest of the band as the real vocalists and with that "expectation" in mind I find it to be an extremely enjoyable listen. Great synergy and fun paired with masterful musicianship.
Elisabeth, I wonder, do you normally write these kind of reviews? Just thinking 'cause it's well analyzed and written. That caught my attention. I would have hated you lots if you'd not liked Gizmodrome ;-)
This is a funny track. The album is very good, containing some very better. Everything Stewart and Adrian play, I listen to. Respect them, respect some of the best musicians in the world.
Got the album a couple of weeks ago and it did take a few listens before I got into it.Quirky fun music played by technical maestros.I particularly like Stuarts phasing on this track, this band obviously gives him room to push himself behind the drum kit, and he and the boys are having a blast. This is one band that I would drag myself out to see.Good luck to them..!!
I dunno what's wrong with people. They come here to listen to an eclectic bunch of musicians and they are surprised to find a bunch of eclectic music. I'm glad it's a bit different and I love it.
Exactly. These guys have been around long enough to know better than to take themselves too seriously. They are clearly having fun and making good music on top of it.
This is fantastic music made by the best musicians around. Copeland's fun shines through beautifully as dose his amazing drumming. Rise up my stallion! Cool beats, riffs and great music to listen to..
Love this album. It’s a musicians album. The nuances of skilled musicians on display will sound strange to the untrained ear but for those of us who are musicians, we eat this up ✌🏾
Ha Ha Ha, Stewart seems to be singing some very strange lyrics but doesn't give a SH1T and is having SOOO much damn fun! To me, he is STILL the BEST drummer around and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT - great job everyone! Big hugs xxx
This song has really grown on me. It's different, and different causes people who want to listen to the same generic crap over and over to react the way you see in this comment section. I'm excited for this album, and I for one am glad they went in a different direction than I was expecting.
I guess most people here missed it when Stewart said, "I don't give a rat's ass." He's having fun with this band. Stewart also explained that during the live shows he will spend more time on the drums than on the mic. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy these videos and not look at them like a music critic. I hope they will perform 2-3 of Stewart's Police songs. I think Bombs Away is on the set list. I hope Miss Gradenko, Darkness and A Sermon will also be performed by either Stewart or one of the men with fine voices.
When the band was rehearsing, Adrian had a lot of trouble delivering the songs. The band decided that Stewart would be the best one to sing the material.
BluesLicks101 sounds like some Zappa style in some of Stuart's delivery. I think some folks are over-critical. Just because these cats could play anything they wanted, somehow people think they're not allowed to have fun.
Pete Hotton As an XTC fan (even though I wouldn't have thought it myself) I would suggest that he means it sounds like the sort of catchy vocal melody and harmonised vocal line that Andy Partridge of XTC would sing. Not massively though, it could equally sound like about twenty other things... late period Tears For Fears for instance, anyone who has a degree of Beatley songcraft. Incidentally as a Police fan and a Level 42 fan, I'm not impressed with this.
It's fun, and it's NEW, and it's FRESH (sad to say, to have something fresh we had to wait for a bunch of 50 years' old). And yes, I LOVE Copeland's voice on this.
Why so many people hate this? Legends that have fun making music together. I know they can do it better but i like it. They have fun and thats the energy in this music. Cool.
The best part of the comments is almost no middle ground ... victory or vitriol. Gotta love it. Probably what they intended. Copeland is a bit tough to listen to but damn, they're tight. Had no idea King was such a great bassist.
Have none of you even heard Stewart's early songs from the first two Police albums? They are in this same vein. By they way...anyone seen Stewart's live Gizmo video on RUclips? Sounds rather familiar after you've heard this.
This is an exceptional playthrough album- it reminds me of some of Frank Zappa's more progressive work - full of quirky lyrics paired with satisfying complexity in the arrangements.
Man... Two things: 1) Thank you, guys, for reminding us that making music can be fun. I'm a fan of everyone of you, and I'm delighted you made this album. 2) There's a lot of people here that simply forgot what "fun" is, what "having a good time" is - I doubt some of them ever knew it. You see joy on everyone's faces in this video. Just the opposite, probably, the long faces talking shit in the comments.
When i first saw the video & listened to the first song that i heard " Man In The Mountain " from this group of amazing musicians that formed the band Gizmodrome, i honestly couldn't stop smiling as they all looked like they were having an absolute blast... I have to agree with other commentators with regards to just enjoying this for the fun of it... Do you honestly think these guys went into the Studio to write some sort of super album!... There's plenty who've done this already & it was made known from the start that it was just for getting together to see what happens & if anything was worth recording in their minds... To those detractors out there, now you might think you have a valid point, but you obviously didn't read the small print... This was never going to be like a Quartet version of the Power Trio's that did experiment & try new things like Cream/Blind Faith & other acts that splintered off into other side projects when the Band they were in split like, The Dophin Brothers/Dalis Car & JBK just to name a few other musician's that did get together to make something meaningful... The Gizmodromme project or experience was just about fellow pros who were asked if/when they had the spare time/would theu want to play together for fun & also see if they want to record it & eventually they did decide to reconvene the following year with more tracks & recorded the album... I'm sure none of these guys had thought of any profits coming from this venture & no doubt they will have agreed on what happens to the money from sold copies of that album... Seriously some people need to lighten up... I've been into playing music all my life but I know when something has been done for profit & prestige or for the sheer fun of it & no doubt none of these guys bothered to think of reimbursements for travelling expenses & everything that goes with the process & headache that can be the recording of an actual album that they hope can speak to other people... I am a fan of each member from their original groups, but I know when someone's doing a project just for a laugh... I said enough to make my observation & the musician's that formed Gizmodrome sure as hell don't need any help from me with regsrds defending themselves.. Just Enjoy it for what it was & not what you wanted it to be... In light of the still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy where ever you are in the world... RESPECT .....
Why in the world can't Copeland be in great band again? i don't know which is worse-- the vocals, the words or the 'god we are great!!" attitude among these people.
All you guys who were “expecting something better”: that’s *your* problem. I think this track is hilarious and fun. If you don’t, well, then don’t buy a copy. But spare the Internet your unwarranted expectations.
These are extremely professional musicians whom have contributed to Music, Arts, Culture, and at this particular point in their lives decided to finally have fun, simply because they can. Guys, well done. Have fun!
People who seem to be expecting avant-prog rock with raging Adrian Belew™ mind-melting guitar solos seem to forget that he did more things than just King Crimson, and in fact that one of the most famous albums he worked on was Graceland, an art-pop-folk-worldbeat kind of album without even a single guitar solo.

Proof enough that some people have not a whit of wit - it's a fine example of absurdism - the lyric for the main refrain is genius you ask me (which you didn't). If you want pouty poetry then go and find something by Sting. No way would he have done something this goofy.
Loving this lineup and the sound. It's bang on a Copeland song. He had that same kind of fun n The Police. Check out the song "On Any Other Day" from the album "Regatta de blank". Another example of some fun silly lyrics and one of my favourites on the album. Also enjoy "contact" and "Does everyone stare" from the same album. I really enjoy Copeland's song writing.
Never imagined so much talent could produce so little.
A bunch of the best musicians of all time having fun. Couldn't ask for more.

I love it. Stewart's rambling singing style reminds me of Stan Ridgway, It's super fun.
Exactly, circus vibes
Those syncopated push fills at the end 👏👏

Glad I'm no the only one with that thought. Stewart has character though - I'll give him that.
