The terms “all-star band” or “supergroup” may be a bit worn in many ways in the general perception, but here the superlative applies in every respect. With their debut album “Gizmodrome” (2017) it was not a surprise that Stewart Copeland, Mark King, Vittorio Cosma and Adrian Belew, each of them with such diverse talent and musical background, created music that was vibrant, electric and unpredictable. With a collective CV that includes The Police, Level 42, King Crimson, David Bowie, Frank Zappa, Talking Heads and PFM just for starters, they combined the spirit of adventure and camaraderie that characterizes their music - a cosmopolitan blend of progressive rock and a pinch of punk with a heavy twist of avant-garde humour.
Right from the start, it was not meant to be a one-off side project but the beginning of something truly unique and exciting. Their first live album “Gizmodrome Live”, released on November 19th, 2021, builds on the foundation laid by the band’s debut album and allows for even more unpredictable outbursts of creative energy. Recorded in Florence, Rome, Tokyo, Osaka, Aschaffenburg and London, it perfectly captures their commitment to this band and the pioneering collaboration.
The fervent genius of Stewart Copeland on drums, guitars and vocals, the incredible bass and vocals of Mark King as well as the incisive guitar work and vocal parts by Adrian Belew, brilliantly rounded off by Vittorio Cosma on keys - it all comes together in a one-of-a-kind high voltage combination on “Gizmodrome Live”. In many ways the live show even manages to surpass the recorded versions of their songs, with Copeland sharing lead vocal duties with the unmistakable voices of Belew and King. Powering through a setlist comprised of their debut album as well as a fantastic selection of songs from The Police and King Crimson, Copeland, King, Cosma & Belew truly delivered a live show to be remembered.
“Gizmodrome Live” is out now on high quality 45rpm Triple 12” Vinyl Gatefold Edition as well as on a Double-CD Digipak Edition and Digital. The CD as well as its digital formats comes with an exclusive version of the band’s song “Don’t Box Me In” featuring Italian Rock superstar Manuel Agnelli (Afterhours) on vocals.

Wow! Why have I never heard of this before! My favourite bass player with my favourite drummer………fantastique!!
This entire experiment was fully justified just due to this song.
Always loved this song..and is also great performed here..." I wish I never woke up this morning" is the continuing phrase in my head since 1995
I attended the Gizmodrome concert in Germany, and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen (and I've been to many). It’s a shame it didn’t get a follow-up. I remember Marc saying, 'this could be something' after the gig. He and Stewart took the time to sign autographs and chat with the few people who didn’t leave right after the concert-I was lucky enough to be one of them.
Every note Belew plays is interesting
This version is just as amazing as the original. Mark King did a great job on vocals. LOVE IT
Not really. You cannot replace Sting. Honestly he should have made someone else sing. He is really struggling to reach the notes.
@@massimoviggiani3378
I'll bet you would be unhappy with anyone else singing it. And it wasn't a matter of replacing him... It was pushing him aside until he was out of sight. Like what Sting did with the Police.
You should be happy that at the 'Ghost' stage of their career... Sting would even agree to sing Stewart's song.
One of my favorite Copeland penned Police songs.
There isn't flaw in any of them.
Aye.
Love it, this is one of 'Ghost In The Machine's most beautifully haunting tunes, and this supergroup does total justice to it.
Beautiful! I just became addicted to this version of the song… soul touching, relatable
That's why MARK KING is 👑... love it.. Stewart is drummer royalty as well !! Pete B got to come along for the ride too! MAGIC!!
Very underrated song of The Police just like Secret Journey. This is a Copeland classic!
I think Andy wrote that
@@oliveroneill1388 Darkness
Song by The Police
I can dream up schemes when I'm sitting in my seat
I don't see any flaws 'til I get to my feet
I wish I never woke up this morning
Life was easy when it was boring
I could make a mark, it weren't so dark
I could be replaced by any bright spark
But darkness makes me fumble
For a key to a door that's wide open
Instead of worrying about my clothes
I could be someone that nobody knows
I wish I never woke up this morning
Life was easy when it was boring
I can dream up schemes when I'm sitting in my seat
I don't see any flaws 'til I get to my feet
I wish I never woke up this morning
Life was easy when it was boring
I wish I never woke up this morning
Life was easy when it was boring...
Songwriter: Stewart Copeland
Andy wrote Omegaman, another underrated song of the three last songs on GITM. All three of them are amazing @@oliveroneill1388
One of my all time favorite Police songs! "Darkness makes me fumble for a key to a door that's wide open", powerful stuff! Thanks for this release!
Glad to hear you like it as much as we do - working on this release was super exciting! And their version of Darkness simply deserved its own video.
@@earMUSICofficial Thanks for the reply... This song is so obscure, I never expected it to be spotlighted in any way so thanks for giving it some love! This is how we keep great music alive.
Holy cow, why have I not seen this before?? This is magical, and to see such amazing musicians in one supergroup is astounding.
It's a brand new release, out today! And yes, we're in love with this version as well.
well said Dennis
Same here -- I can't believe I only found out about them today! I immediately bought the album after hearing this, though.
Almost exactly what i thought - I didn't recognise MK when just playing bass, then when he sang it was "Huh? Wait a minute... WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN!". A joy to see these guys all in a band together, and making such class happen.
@@earMUSICofficial Thank you so much!
One of my favorite Police songs. Why didnt they stretch this out to 7+ minutes! I didn't want it to end.
I would argue that any band with Mark King is a supergroup-so this is like a super super group.
Super! Thanks!
✌️🤠💥🎉
So many great elements to this song live, and at the top is Adrian's killer guitar parts that just lifts the track. To my knowledge, the Police never played this live due to Sting's unwillingness to sing later Stewart penned tracks . Add Miss Grandenko to the list too.
Miss Gradenko is on the new live album as well!
I saw Gizmodrome at Scala in London in 2018. They were fantastic. This song was magical.
What. The. Fuck.
Just learning about this collab now.
I looove this band and this version of the song! The Gizmodrome debut album has been a staple for... jeez, is it 4 years now??
4 years indeed... time flies!
This Copeland tune...absolutely beutiful...
Everything they do live is better than the studio album, which is great!
Fantastic version
MK does justice to this great song
Absolutely bloody love this, legend that MK is.
I must have been living under a musical rock, because I had never heard of these guys until 20 minutes ago. This is some amazing stuff!
The guys or this group of them? ;)
@@gmpetinga The group. I knew who Copeland, King, and Belew were. I am a Zappa fan. The original Gizmodrome album sounds a little like Zappa at times. Fun stuff!
@@timothyray4440 amazing albums. But the energy of this Live is special 👏🏼
@@gmpetinga Yes it is! That is how I know the musicians are so good. Many bands, and singers, never sound as good live as they do on a recording. These guys sound better live.
How fitting. How very very fitting.
Perfectly catching the vibe of this our time...
Hair standing right up from my arms and stubbed head :-)
Keep Up the Good Work Gentlemen.
Love this super group all amazing musicians!
I wasn't aware this group existed until now, the moment I leave this comment. I only surmised it had to do with Stewart Copeland because of the "Darkness" title. I recognized it, since that's one of my favorite Police tunes that Stewart penned.
Ohhh thank goodness. Some body from the Police is playing rock
Wow, guys. So good.
Love this song so much and this is a great performance!! Thanks for sharing✨❤️
Brilliant cover of a great song from the Police's finest album. Thanks Stu, Ade et al.
is it a cover if its writer is playing on it? or a version? lol
Top 5 Police tunes!
I love Mark King...his music and Stuart Belew cosmos... best muscian
My 2 favorite bands when I was a teen...merged into one
Police & Krimson?
🥺 (Yes, that's how cool ppl write it).
I🫀CPR!
wow wow wow wow wow, excellent song written by stu, amazing performance !!! I have had my own version in guitar, ive played it just by myself for years !! This is a rescue of a great great song !! thanks you all
Great vocals by Mark King
He's singing in a different register than usual and, I am loving it, funny thing with Mark, I love the songs he's plays finger style, his playing is sublime on this tune, he takes a bit of a back seat and, it really works, what a tune
Excellent
Adrian belew, the master
Yes, and he was actually "tricked" by Stew to get into the band (!)
Wondered where Belew went from KC.....like this version...thanks!
Amazing, sublime, perfect, wonderful, fabulous, great
Bravo! I hope there’s more on YT 🤞🏼
Love it!!. Great song from Ghost. So Copeland. He really got his own thing. Klark Kent, Rumblefish and on.
This is bloody great.Superb👏🏻👏🏻
Un de mes morceaux préférés de Police, un line up de rêve !!😊 Merci, merci, merci!!😉👍 J'avais acheté l'album studio à sa sortie, je vais vite me procurer le live!!😊
Superb!
Uno de los mejores temas de Stewart copeland
The Music of musicians, crushes Rap.......... ANYDAY!!@!@!
yo conosco a todo...hera the police fan y level42,y belew...me gusta muchísimo la aregamont... i love it..beateful sound
great band
wow!! this version is really good
Wow great show.! Love «Darkness» for me the first rock ballad from The Police prior to «Every breath you take». The band plays perfect love any instrument and vocals. Great work. Regards from Lima Perú 🎙🎧🎼🎵✌
Oh wow! I shall be chasing up everything I can find by this band.
Dios muy buena versión.son músicos grandiosos! Stewart está que se sale con la batería, fantástico ;-)
good to hear belew up loud in the mix , saw a quite a few shows where he was burried in the mix , since he changed his rig and dropped the johnson amps it was very tough to hear him . i get stage volume issues but , um we paid to hear your guitar . never though i would see him in front of 4 marshalls though he sounds incredible on this gizmodrome .
I think the Marshall cabinets were kind of a backdrop and Adrian Belew played through his usual rig directly into stage and foh
This is Music !
PROGRESIVO ES EL CAMINO......
Stewart's tune but I'm afraid Sting owns it. Then again, Sting is one of the greatest singers in modern times. Great tune by the way and Stewart is still playing like a monster.
Applause from Argentina 👍✨
My goodness....the giants returned on earth
Cool ! It's a jazzy version. Can u imagine The Police playing this exactly version.
BRILLLLIANNNTTTTTT 🔥
Adrian Belew with the police would have been interesting.
Wow... better than the original beat. Very smooth and moving. Nice change to the song.
Who is the drummer, he's got a great feel?
I love Mark King's interpretation of Sting's song; I think he improves on the original and maybe even surpasses it.
Brilliant loved it 👏
So fun to listed to. I believe this awesome performance was after 3-4 shows. A new band. Can you imagine the musical extravaganza after 20 concerts? Please go for a post-COVID Round 2.
Love it. Mark is still King 👑
A great take on an obscure Police track.
Saw them in Florence, Italy. What a night to remember..
Vittorio Cosma Orgoglio ITALIANO !!!
Vittorio Cosma is a star in this group; very tasty keyboards!!!
Ear Music 🎶🎵 good luck. Благодарю вас за трансляцию.
Is there any chance of any more film from this concert seeing the light of day? The live album is phenomenal, but there's so little Gizmodrome footage around.
I'd absolutely buy it if there was. I'd love to see the whole thing.
Why not a live bluray mister copeland ???
Swietne od kiedy sie pojawilo .
I'm a 54 year old lady and I don't sleep so well and I'm sorry to say sometimes, it's sooo tiring, (no pun intended)... I especially get frustrated when I wake up at 2am (or before, or after) and am IMMEDIATELY bombarded by an "ear worm"... usually it's a sentence or chorus of a song that I've recently heard and it's repeating OVER and OVER and OVER again... (for at least a WEEK, or more!) It's probably quite funny to most people, who've not experienced this oddity, but lack of sleep isn't a laughing matter and to ME, it's effin' INFURIATING...
I Just WANT to rest well and wake up in the morning refreshed... is that too much to ask?!
Anyway, sorry, moan over... what I really meant to say is that this track is a total MASTERPIECE and I absolutely LOVE IT... Stewart Copeland is a total LEGEND, and his drumming still gives me goosebumps... This is one of the MOST CHILLED OUT, COMFORTING, REMARKABLE and SOOTHING tracks I have ever heard and so, I am actually HAPPY to have THIS as a regular "EAR WORM"! LOVE IT! Thank you so much xxx
EPIC
This is much better than anything on the Studio Album. Hate to say it, because I dig Stewart, but singing ain't his strong suit.
That's what I hoped this band would sound like.
Qué maravilla por diossss!!!!
I'm waiting for a live version of this song for years! Very surprising, but WHY change the vocal line melody?? 😫😫
My EARS my Heart 😍 ✨🥰
Anyone know which hi-hats Stewart is using in this? They sound fantastic.
12" Paiste rhythmatist hi-hat
Thanks!
2018?? This band really needs to do an album.
They could rival The Police at this point, now that Sting can't write.
The DID an album before going out live....it's simply called Gizmodrome
Beautiful tune. Mark isn’t Gordon, but this cover would do Gordon proud
What is the name of the guitar player?
Adrian Belew… the great
So good,I hope they tour.Maybe they can have Sting open for them.Lol.
This is great ! but where is Adrian Belew singing?
There's many songs on the new live album with Adrian on vocals, for example a fantastic version of Elephant Talk!
Love this song and these guys are great musicians, but the original melody is so haunting I wish he would have stayed more true to it.
Beautiful! But you can’t fool us: the wall of Marshalls is almost surely nonfunctional product placement whose purpose is to slightly increase the finance signal ;-) Modern stages are relatively quiet, typically with in-ear monitors
Adrian isn't using in ears, you can see a stage monitor behind him on the floor
Adrian doesn't use Marshalls, never did of what I've seen. He's into Fractal or other "modellers" and uses a full-range monitor for his own monitoring system. I think maybe Stewart got a Marshall when he's occasionally strumming a rhythm guitar.
@@jublaim Thanks for the info on Adrian’s equipment. I don’t believe the Marshals are for actual use even by Stewart, since that would make Adrian immediately deaf from their loudness so close behind him… I think the Marshals are for marketing or a similar contractual obligation 😉
Love it! But does the mixing engineer have a grudge against the percussionist?
I was thinking the same thing. Kinda weird mix. Whoever it is though , loves that damn ride cymbal!!! :P
He loves the piano and the reverb return knob for sure.
I guess, there should be more cowbell! 😉
che figata
ye!
Is that Pete playing percussion ?
sure looks like him
Yes sir!
@@rodrigoaltaf983 Wow man, it was already an outstanding line up
I was just about to ask the same question. 👍
He's barely mentioned on the lp sleeve and yet he plays on pretty much every track....i thought he should be given more credit for his wonderful playing than that given by the band.....had never heard of him before seeing the gig in London...
Better than the police version
👏👍🏻
