I agree with you that sleeping on a slope is the worst. We had that experience a couple weeks ago. Nothing worse then sliding toward the bottom of your tent all night.

I was in a part of the Mojave desert back in my Army day's and it was around 110-120. With bdu's on we drenched ourselves with water and would dry pretty quick. Water is so important. Happy Hiking Darwin

Darwin, a trick to keep your water somewhat cooler is to cover your bottles with a sock, and sew it tight at the neck, trim off the excess. The thicker the sock is the better. Soak the sock in water every chance you get, and enjoy some cool water as the water evaporates.

I'm glad to see you enjoying yourself again. You seem relaxed and at the same time more energized than before. The injury doesn't seem to be dragging you down or worrying you like it did earlier. I have the impression your experience of the vulnerability and uncertainty associated with the temporary incapacity has imparted some additional humility. Few things are more valuable. Thank you for sharing your hike and the beautiful scenery with those of us who can't get out there. And God bless the trail angels!!! I'm glad you go out of your way to acknowledge them. It makes me happy to know there are people like that in our world.

Hey, Darwin. Size 13's are not so bad. Mine grew two full sizes from hiking. The major disadvantage to bigger feet is the selection of shoe colors is often limited to whatever color, like bright blue or whatever they have on the shelf in my size. I'm OK with that. Hike on, my friend!

Ahhhh. Your feet sound just like mine. Used to wear 12's but in most brands I've had to move up to a 13 not because my feet are growing but because they are flattening, at least according to the physical therapist I visited. Orthopedic inserts with good arch support will stabilize this. Rock on!
