This like listening to friends obsess about bags how I do. Love it.
I have both and have made liners for both just in case. Helps to support the corners especially the original and£ catch any spills. Th3 most important thing is to support the bag when not in use. I made custom pillows for this

The original Bayswater is the best. The new ones, in my opinion, are a “forced upgrade”. The company is all over the map without any direction since the new designer took over. The new leathers are awful. They feel stiff. A brand must stay true to it’s origins. It doesn’t feel or look like a British brand anymore. I own the original Bayswater in NVT leather in the black. I purchased it in 2015. It is in perfect shape. It smells just like the day I brought it home. I have Louis Vuittons, Gucci, and a Chanel. I still love my original Mulberry the best.
Thank you for the informative video but I wish only one person would be talking. The person behind the camera kept interrupting and it was quite aggravating. Maybe both of you should be in the video?? There was more of a conversation going on than a video. Sorry, just my two cents.
Thank you for your comment. Sorry you found it a little aggravating. We both have different view points and knowledge so we try and open a conversation about the products to get the most facts and knowledge in as possible. Due to have multiple bags on camera we didn’t give the viewer a visual overload. But thank you so much for your comments and we hope something away from it.
Original is better. More classic. The tapered look is cleaner and the option to expand is very nice.
Mulberry Bayswater Heritage look luxury. All the new bag look plastic cheap and ugly design. The only good other one Alexa, Cara backpack its ok, but not as good as heritage.
I think the leather treatment, and finish makes a big difference. I love hearing different opinions, thank you for watching!

A suede lining would be impossible to clean if you waste something inside, wouldn't it? The new one reminds more of a MICHAEL Kors bag. It looks cheaper. And I don't like that the new bag has holes that allows stuff to drop out if you bend over.
I totally disagree that the new bag is more luxurious. The older bag feels very soft and rich. The leather is better. The large bayswater is an everyday bag for me. So, I am not looking for it to be as stylish as a bag I use just for fashion sake.
The new one looks cheap
The original is the best for me. Losing the mulberry tree was criminal. I hate that guy johnny Coca. Thank god he’s gone. and every single bag other shoujd have the option of a crossbody strap. PERIOD. whatever size or shape. Doesn’t have to be leather. Matching Canvas woven straps are just fine with leather finishing and nice hardware. But for gods sake but thd damnD rings in every bagggg
I’m glad that in 2023 I was able to buy a Bayswater with more of the legacy look and features. I like the non lined interiors.

I left a comment on a previous vid (probably slagging off the new designs - sorry 😞) but it was good to see the new Bayswater and heritage side by side.
I’m still firmly in the heritage camp because I love the way they age, which is something the newer style won’t be able to do. I could waffle on and on about why I don’t like the new Bays but I’m pretty sure you’ve heard it all before.
Beth made an interesting point about Mulberry needing to expand its appeal and I agree with that wholeheartedly but not in the way the company previously tried ie upping its prices to appear more exclusive, whilst also appealing to the Asian market. Mulberry always was, in my mind anyway, more elevated than Coach and Michael Kors but not of the Chanel, Hermés and LV status. It’s tried to join their ranks and failed.
From a personal reflection, when I bought my Bays it was to use her as a work bag, but also at the weekend when my children were still young and needed all the bits and bobs that mums rely on when out and about. Austin covered this when he stated the heritage is a bag that is used every day, it’s a workhorse of a bag and will stand up to the rigours of everyday life.
I’ve seen some beautifully aged Bayswaters and this is why I love them, over time they soften and slouch, darken and patina but...they still shout ‘Quality’ those newer Johnny Coca Bays will never have this.
By the way, you should have many more subscribers. Look after yourselves and stay safe 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed this! You have some great points, I think your view regarding exactly where mulberry do and should lie within the luxury/designer sector is spot on and they would do far better if they tried to be the “best” In that specific area.

I love the new one, I’m like you I can see why people like the heritage but it’s not for me. How long has the new design been around?
The new style came out about 2016/2017 so it’s maybe about four years old now!

I have the original oak Bayswater. I was staying with a friend at a spa hotel in Scotland. There was no safe in the room and she asked me to store some jewellery in my locked Bayswater

I bought a pre-loved Mulberry ‘exchange’ Bayswater, VTL, in black this week. Shall I keep it? I already have one in oak
Personally i prefer the Tan color and the more structured frame. Some times I feel the old one is going to die at any point when we take the items out. The bag melts too much for my taste and I’m a girl that loves a little of slouchiness. However the new style with ears protruding and without the buckles that cinge the bag to your taste it’s a miss. Those straps gives birqinesq feeling that I love. For me the final straw was them taking the Tree out. So still team heritage still.
I have the veg tan new bayswater, its better in structure and shape, less maintenance, and more versatile in my opinion 😍
I just bought a new one. It’s heritage and really heavy grain leather. The quality is again what it was. Those flap out ones lose colour terribly.
The new one just looks cheaper and not as good quality in my opinion.
I prefer legacy old collection, they last forever, my oldest one is almost 30 years old.
The new one looks better. Its targeted to a younger audience it looks like.
