Please take note that before Stell did his own rendition of All By Myself, he had already sang three songs prior: All I Ask By Adele, Defying Gravity and his own debut single, Room. And according to Stell, Mr. David Foster surprised him when he asked him to do a dry run of All Myself while he's about to do sound check for the three songs that he was going to perform for his front act that night. Like there's no proper rehearsal but Mr. DF asked him if he wanted to sing the song that same night. Stell did a great job singing ABM despite a short notice. He's truly one phenomenal performer.

Stell was a last-minute addition to the show as the front act. He was just supposed to sing 3 songs - All I Ask by Adele (but he did the Bruno Mars version), Defying Gravity, and his solo song ROOM. But during his rehearsal/sound check, David Foster asked him on stage while DF was rehearsing and asked Stell to try to sing All By Myself. Stell was so confused but agreed and DF guided him to the arrangement and Stell was just basically trying to sing along without much effort, doing falsetto and all as he doesn't know why they're doing that coz it's not included in his set list. After that, DF asked him if he'd like to sing it. Still confused, Stell answered, "if it's okay with you Sir". Stell finished performing his 3 songs (being the front act), and then he was called back again by DF during the main show. DF went on to challenge Stell that he only has one shot at nailing the note (even showing a clip of Celine Dion hating on DF for giving her the impossible note). Stell was obviously very nervous and pressured but it was a big opportunity he can't let past. And he NAILED IT! So proud of our boy!

stell has always been known for the high notes but to hear this is another thing.
Actually, Stell said he nearly backed out when he was asked to sing this song because he was very nervous and not ready to sing this in front of David Foster. He said he was also nervous because the arrangement is different from the one he knows.
Stell’s vocal training background is actually not that long. He knew he could sing but he did join Singing competitions because he was so into Dancing in his younger years. he joined dance competitions instead that leads him to SB19 where he got the proper training. He’s the Lead Dancer, Main choreographer and main vocalist of the group. SB19 is only 5 years old.

Stell even said he was rehearsing some parts of the song on stage while the band was playing the instrumental part of All By Myself. He was so nervous because he never had proper rehearsal for that particular performance. David only present to him the arrangement of the song during soundcheck, then the rest was up to Stell's ability. Glad he nailed that perf. We're so proud of him❤
For context, he was just supposed to only open for him with 3 songs. But on the same day, D. Foster asked him during Stell's soundcheck if he would "try" singing All by Myself. And when Stell asked if he was going to be singing it that night, David said if you want. Hahaha He couldn't refuse. He was so nervous but he killed it!

The performance starts with David showing a video clip of Celine hating him for the ridiculously high notes then David told Stell, "You only have one chance tonight, Stell". Stell wasn't supposed to sing this song, its not part of the show repertoire or program. David just saw Stell waiting for his turn to rehearse for his opening act. Stell is to sing 3 songs - Defying gravity, All I Ask and his latest solo hit, Room but David asks him if he'd like to try All By Myself, so David briefly walked him through the arrangement and after that he said, "Would you like to sing it on the show?" Stell, though puzzled and nervous agreed. So, no preparations or rehearsals for this song. He was invited to sing it right then and there on that day by David. There were interviews about it.

And he thought he is just a front act until in the sound check David on the piano he was called on stage again and ask would you like to try All By Myself?....and he said will I sing it tonight? David said will see and they did it a couple of times, Stell still confuse was told Ok you will sing it tonight. You will have your once chance. That was when he started praying all the way to that time he was called back.
He was supposed to be just the opening act. He sang Defying Gravity, Adele's All I Ask, and his very own Room.
He only learned that he would be singing this that night. He didn't have a proper rehearsal, just a couple or so runs but he nailed it, in spite of him visibly nervous and mumbling a short prayer in between.
It wasn’t a prayer but he was actually rehearsing and trying to remember the arrangement that David gave to him during sound check. He shared this story during his tiktok live 😊
I also thought he was saying a prayer, it turned out he was practicing the last part of the song. Stell is beyond amazing ❤

I was there and I still tear up whenever I see videos of this magnificent performance.
I felt like the biggest winner myself as soon as he hit that moneynote and the crowd went wild. Quite an experience.
And the backstory if this performance makes it even more special. Like what the others are saying here in the comment section, this performance was not a part of the show's repertoire. Stell was asked to try it during soundcheck for his opening performance, was asked to study the last part of the song, and was asked to perform it for the main show.
I was nervous and praying for him during the performance. That's our Stell right there, gosh I'm crying again, I should shut up.

it was not impromptu. last minute performance but he was given time to rehearsed and was coached by Brenan. An impromptu performance when Pilita Corales, and Randy Santiago sang with David foster a few years back during David foster and friends concert.

I am an avid Sb19 fan pero pwede ba dun lang tayo sa Totoo. This is a concert by David Foster and he would not compromised his name to mess up. Nakapag rehearsed yan. Yes he was not able to practice a lot of times but this was not impromptu unlike Pilita Corales or Randy Santiago’s performance before: Magaling na si Stell wag na lang kayong mema let his talent speaks for it.

Stell's performance is nothing short of impressive. And what makes it even more incredible is that it was unplanned, not part of the concert repertoire, and an impromptu challenge from David Foster. It's even nerve-wracking because the song has "impossible notes." Stell had already sung three high-pitched and vocally demanding songs, and to top it off, he's not in the best condition (he's sick). I had to mention, too, that a day prior to the concert, SB19 had intense performances at an event. And the elephant in the room-he's a man, hitting the piece in female key and doing it cleanly.
Thank you for appreciating Stell. The stars aligned and that moment was really for him.

what's so great about this is that this song is not even on the setlist. Stell is the opening act of DF's concert. He already sang 3 songs I think. this song is an impromptu one. stell said that when he was about to do the soundcheck before the concert, DF was there seated on the piano and asked him if he could sing the song. Stell had no choice but to sing. Then DF said if it would be okay to include ABM in the repertoire
