@@6thGearGarage some guy wanted $500 for an inclinometer 😭😭 bought an electric fan instead 😂🤷🏼♂️ If you’re trying to keep one of these original it’s all heartbreak and frustration 😂
@@99fxr68 I hear ya... I still have the inclinometer from this truck stored in a box, just in case I ever need one someday. They're not getting any cheaper!
Thanks for taking the time to post up your videos! I'm getting ready to do the heater core in my 86 4Runner and these videos are great help. Then I need to do the body mounts.....argh that's gonna suck.
@@6thGearGarage I'm thinking the body mounts will take the trophy. I'm north of you in Ontario and our corrosion levels are impressive. My body bolts look like they came off the Titanic. They don't resemble bolts and nuts anymore so I'll be cutting them off somehow.
I love you. I have an 80, 87 dully, and recently an 84 ext. cab... I’m going to attempt a crazy build... 84 cab on the 87 1 ton dully frame with a 8x12 foot deck to build on. Great videos
I've yet to own one of these trucks that didn't have some wonky wiring splices. Usually alarm systems or tow harnesses, but they are never done properly IMO. Luckily I enjoy correcting and eliminating unnecessary wiring.
the deck lamp switch is specific to 4runners, it is a small light in the drive side rear trim panel to illuminate the cargo area, it is not a pickup part. the inclinometer was hardwired in because it was also pillaged from a 4runner, pickups were not offered with this feature (although the 4wd tercel was).
My 85 pickup has a deck lamp and light behind the cab but it is an extra cab. Are you sure about 4runners only having the inclinometer? I’ve seen sr5 pickups with the inclinometer gauges.
I stand corrected, according to 4Crawlers write up some pickups were offered. I have never seen a 4Runner that didn’t have the plug behind the dash even if it didn’t have the meter, if yours was hard wired and not utilizing the oem harness I would still bet that it, along with the dash pad, were pulled from a 4Runner.
@@codykey9096 100% Also, I retrofitted one from a 4wd Tercel into my 1985 xtra cab. My 85 had the plug already there behind the dash that I could tap into. One of my fav mods so far!
I did a double plug setup to get a newer CD player to work with my tape deck. I had a small selector switch to cut the power to the tape deck, or the CD player depending on what unit was not in use at the time. That way I could use the Toyota single units with the OEM audio head. I used to change the uber crappy OEM speakers out, but the amps were generally not terrible.
6th Gear Garage Yea, if you were closer, and if butt and crimp connectors were not used, (I solder and heat shrink everything) it could have been me! ;-)
Most Xtra cab SR5 trucks in Canada have rear window defrosters in them! both of mine do! I tend to agree that someone has swaped in a dash and some wiring from a 4runner especially if there was power windows as non of the pickups had that regardless of trim
Hey, so at the end of the video, you we’re talking about salvaging the carpet. Wondering if you’ve ever put one in before and they way you’d go about doing it? Future video in the making perhaps?? 🤷🏼♂️ Love the videos, keep em coming!
Yeah, it looks savable from 10 ft away. I thought so at first too, then realized it wouldn't be worth it with all that rust. Don't worry, it's going to a good cause!
I’m currently LS swapping my 84 4runner. I really want to keep the AC but need a way to retrofit the AC line. But it is going to be a toy for the dunes so I may just gut the dash as well. My LS heads hit the bulge in the firewall where the AC lines go through.
@@6thGearGarage going to try to! I’ve been working on it since 2018. Collecting parts and buying tools! Time is freeing up so hopefully I can get to cracking on it! Appreciate the comment back.
I didn't see if the headliner was grey, and I don't know where you're selling the parts you are parting out. I see this is a recent vid. I'm in the market for a good grey headliner!
I’m also looking for a control circuit board for the a/c it’s on top of the heater box behind the glove box. Just unplug remove the clip and slide it out
That would be a great interior to come up on! That shit ain’t cheap!
10 years go, I was selling crack-free dashboards for $100. Little did I know...

Disc changer behind the seat. That’s what the elect. plug and the screws siliconed were for.
Good call!!

Same here... I've had about 10 trucks and my 1985 is the only one with an uncut harness, and I refuse to ever cut it.
Plenty of work but fun at the same time. Love the Yota.
That’s a good way to put it👍

Sr5 dash, I have defrost button too in my xtracab sr5
Never knew they did that, thanks for the info!
my Sr5 interior looks the same
great channel
I could use a lot of these interior parts man
Wow I want that center consol piece, forget what they are called.
The shifter trim? It's the only one I've every had that wasn't cracked... hanging onto it ;)

Ill buy the sun visors! 😃
Do you have to remove the entire sash to remove the AC condenser box?
No you do not, just removing the glovebox and the metal bracket under it should make enough room.

Most of the parts go to my basement for future projects. This headliner has splits in it on the seams, like a lot of them do :(
Do you have any of the interior stuff left?
Not much, I traded second gen parts for first gen parts.
Is that altimeter/ inclinometer for sale?
Sorry, it’s a keeper
