Chania, a stunning coastal town on the northwest coast of Crete, is a captivating blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Known for its picturesque Venetian harbor, Chania is a mosaic of influences from the Minoan, Roman, Byzantine, Venetian, and Ottoman periods, each leaving its mark on the town's architecture and ambiance.
The heart of Chania is its Old Town, where narrow, winding alleys are lined with colorful buildings, charming shops, and cozy cafes. The harbor's iconic lighthouse and fortress offer breathtaking views, especially at sunset, while the bustling waterfront is a hub of activity, filled with restaurants serving fresh seafood and traditional Cretan dishes.
Beyond the historic center, Chania is a gateway to some of Crete's most beautiful landscapes, including the dramatic Samaria Gorge and pristine beaches like Elafonissi and Balos. Whether you're exploring ancient ruins, strolling through vibrant markets, or simply soaking up the sun by the azure sea, Chania offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure in a setting that feels timeless.
Beautiful video Maya; we head over to Chania this Friday for 10. Can I ask you was it very hot or manageable, is there a breeze ? Thank you 😊
Hey Carol! I have been to Chania 4 times now, there is always a little bit of a breeze in Chania, it does get hot but I would not say unbearable :)
@@kikipatel8092 thanks so much for your reply Kiki, we are here now and it is beautiful. Managing the heat, staying out of it between 12pm and 4pm and loving out port view from our hotel ❤️.
@carolshaw7904 No probs at all! If you need any restaurant recommendations I have got a fair few up my sleeve!
Hello Carol! Sorry for my late response. I was there between mid. June to the first week of July, and it was already extremely hot. We stayed in the shadow the entire middays and spent mostly on the beaches so there was almost every day some breeze. The sea was still pretty chill back then, and was a good option for refreshing. But I am so glad that you´re already in Crete and enjoying :) Wish you a wonderful holiday! :)
