Glad our post was helpful to you! Wanted to toss in an explanation for the Tachyokinetic Converter losing out to the Ordnance Accelerator on those builds. As players have gotten better at the game and been given more toys, there's a lot more CrtH/CrtD and Bonus (Cat2) damage on current builds, which means that something like a Tachyokinetic giving roughly ~20% Cat2 isn't going to be mathematically better than 40% Cat1 for the Ordnance Accelerator and its 2-piece bonus because the ratio of Cat1 to Cat2 is lower than 2:1. On Jay's Kelvin Konnie, the ratio is closer to 1.2:1; on the ERL Gagarin it's about 1.5:1. Since 40% Cat1 is double the Cat2 damage, but the ratio is lower, the Cat1 comes out ahead. We think this is largely due to a combination of personal endeavors and stronger traits like Terran Targeting Systems, Terran Goodbye, etc. giving more Cat2 than we used to have. Enjoyed the video and appreciate the explanations!

That makes sense. So someone like me with all my Endeavors maxed out would probably do better Ordnance Accelerator because I already have a good amount of crit buffs from there that the Tachyokinetic isn't going to make as much difference, but someone with little progress in their Endeavors might be better off with it for a bit of crit chance and severity that they wouldn't have otherwise. Correct?

Hmm… seems like the difference probably is worth it, and I probably will craft some for my newer toons who hadn’t yet got the Fleet Vulnerability Locators. But I don’t really feel inclined to grind out sets for all the toons I already invested in the Vulnerability Locators for. Thanks for doing the in depth video though; Since I mostly do canon/lore inspired builds, energy weapons are the backbone of every ship I fly, so this could be a tremendous boost to my damage output!

One good thing about mining the isomags, is that there are two ground TFO's that can be run. So if your ship has trouble, or simply cannot hold it's own in an advanced TFO, you can run either "Into the Hive", or "Miner instabilities" on elite. Here is it much easier for newer characters to get through, and get the reward.
In fact, to aid in getting through those elite ground TFO's, be sure to mine the favors from the summer event, to buy the kit frames, and some high end kits to aid in ground combat.

I will say that the fact that they are harder to get than the Spire consoles means that they have not dethroned the spire consoles. The fact you can get the Spire consoles rolled to what you want at purchase and it can take 60k dil to reroll the others also means Spire consoles are still King. If they really want them to be on par with Spire consoles, it should be pick your mod for the same price in Dill that you pay for the Spire consoles.

When I got my first drop for crafting the weapon power adv eng consoles, I was excited, which was immediately let down when I found out it wasn't a single drop. *que up Williams Shatner, Rocket Man* I was planning on going 7 Adv Eng with 3 Colony and Lorcanator on my Lexington. 3 of the Disco Tac buffing generic energy type but beam-only / cannon-only is better than Colony? Eck, that is tough to swallow, esp on MAS3 builds where I have 1 torp, 1 turret, and 6 beams. I'm 4 Spire on my Lex's currently. Almost all of my 15 characters are MW energy weapons based. Cryptic should make the slot machine for re-engineering eliminate a choice after it's been selected & passed on once or twice while still within the re-engineering tab, then reset once exited & used at a later time. That way if there's 24+ re-engineering options & one has terrible luck eventually you'll wind-up with the option you wanted. Let's face it though the reason Cryptic made it how it is currently is Cryptic wants us to use-up our resources.

I know I'm late to the party on this one, but while I think the Isomags are useful, I worry about how much they'll affect how creative a build can be. Seeing most of the console slots being taken up by the Isomags and Bellums with only 3 or 4 slots left for anything else makes me a little...disheartened, I guess? I don't need to be at 300k DPS in order to feel good about my build, but I want to keep up and do well. But I like my canon builds - I love getting to have consoles that feel like they would actually be interesting pieces of equipment to have on a ship, like the Shield Absorptive Frequency Generator or the Temporal Trajectory Shifter. It's especially true when you spent a lot of time (and even money) to get a build set up that you feel confident and happy in just for people to be like "Nope, the DPS grind continues, let's scrap the builds we've worked so hard for and start from scratch". As many have said, that would change to a degree if the consoles were easier to obtain. I guess I just don't want my build to feel like it has to be "Isomagnetic Bellum unga-bunga" in order to actually feel valuable to my fleet/teams. But that's just me - don't let my worry get in the way of you grinding the consoles or doing what helps you in your DPS chase, I'm just giving myself an outlet for these thoughts :)

That keeps the game fun for me, every day I try a new build out pve then ker'rat. I'd love for to see a throw back video where you pull out the older ships and make a new build for them. re-giggered my jelly with isomags and bought out the summer event for the Five Magicks and console because I'm impatient. Still fine tuning. Currently only have 5 of 6 isomags equipped because one of the 20% all damage was doing more damage. Have to check if the 6th isomag beats the Freedom console's electric bonus, and test a few other things and even if it does I need to switch back in Lorca's. As a side note, you can't use the fire breath while in Jelly mode, but it does make up for having trash weapons picked only for set bonuses in between jelly-ing especially if you cap engine power (currently my isomags are split between engine power and AP for the sentry mode).

Probably going to stick with locs/sploits, unless something happens with the drop rates on these. There's entirely too much grind for my tastes. While the improvements are nice, they're SPENDY. As someone who doesn't farm dil and isn't in a fleet that farms dil, we're struggling enough to finish our colony holding. Clearly these are intended to help with dil inflation, but I'm not sure how that's going to work out, long-term.
I'm especially interested to see, long term, what this does for variety of builds. With the spire consoles, you can have a few different builds relatively easily. That's not going to be the case for casual players with these.

These its just a matter of what captain abilities you get, everything else is so flexible that you can build any career however you want. Unless you're trying to break records on the DPS leader boards, you're not going to notice a difference. What really matters is the the build on the ship, not the career of the character.

I'd rather stay with the locators that I have - because for that much grind, with that much dil to *WASTE* - just getting the right modifiers you want to really make it work means that an actual budget build with near-zero materials/dil is to be better off using the tried and easier-to-get spire locators. It's essentially also a VERY CONVOLUTED dilithium sink just doing the modifier roulette - which is what it is exactly: simulated gambling just to get the right modifiers by WASTING dilithium because they implemented the "everything including the kitchen sink" approach in cramming just about every single modifier a console can supposedly use to make it even more of a PITA to get. Seriously, STO? If I didn't know any better, they're kinda insidious and manipulative in trying to get some players who have zero impulse control and are stupid enough to open their wallets to buy zen to exchange for dil to keep turning the modifier roulette wheel until you get the modifiers you want. And since it's going to be "RNG" - you'll be running out of dil faster than before and will need to top up by buying zen to exchange for more dil to continue. Now, immagine doing that to a few or ALL OF YOUR ALTS - especially if you have a few "favorite ships" you like to hop in and out of, etc. They've thrown all of this along with other dil sinking mechanics already in the game, yet they haven't even ONCE increased the amount of dil productions and dil conversions.

The number of modifiers is the reason I don't bother with the new consoles at all. Grinding elite TFOs I don't like and then only having a 1 in 24 chance to get the mod that I want? No thanks.

This is all a stunt to force us to have to buy zen to turn into large amounts of dilithium for what we need to reengineer these consoles.

So far, not seeing any reason to get them. ~10% increase in DPS isn't worth my time.

The second you said "you have to reengineer them" I lost all interest in these consoles.
We already have rng on top of rng on top of rng ... I am tired of STO creating needless busywork just so "player online hours go brrrrr"
