Evangelion Original vs Rebuild- Story

- The first part of a series of videos trying to decide which is better, Neon Genesis Evangelion or the Rebuild of Evangelion. Mostly opinions so don't get too mad if I say one is better than the other.
This video is comparing the story. The reason i am doing many videos instead of all together in one massive video is because I'm sure I will have to edit them. It wouldn't shock me if this video gets hit in someway shape or form, so if you end up liking the video give it a like and maybe even share it because I'm sure RUclips will not.
I never understand why Toji was on the cover of Death and Rebirth, he was an important character but he didn’t do squat as an EVA pilot
this comment is kinda late, but i think the original is better. In the originals, eva became a big thing in japan by accident, and surprised basically everyone, anno included. It managed to capture, in a very short amount of time, alot of the uncertaincies and anxieities of the modern japanese, but ended on a hopeful, yet pessimistic message. It was pure, it was annos creative vision, though flawed, it was wholely honest.
The rebuilds always felt like a reaction to the fans or populatity, and frankly always felt glossy and a bit more hollow. Everything about the original eva, the short character bulding scenes, the goofy soundtrack, the 80`s fashion and the general vibe, give a very unique feeling, which i dont think has been captured by anything else, even the rebuilds.
I enjoyed your video though, as one of the new generation of eva fans since im quite young. You shouldnt apologize for your subjective opinions, i think they are very fresh

I feel over all the story of evangelion was better paced in show format than film format
Every single arc in the story could be focused on for 25 minutes each, but the films couldn't do nearly as much.
Also I feel in a way the characters felt more human, especially characters likes shinji and asuka ect.
Not saying their bad films, just not superior to the og show and the end of evangelion film
Thank goodness it is a tie. Honestly I think both version is charming in their own way. I was here to see any story comparisons I missed out, but hearing that you said both version is good made me really happy. The last movie is delayed tho, but that wont stop me for loving this series.
I like the original better.
in Episode 1, in very beginning Shinji was a normal child. Until met his father.

I really feel like you have a misunderstanding of rebuild and what Anno Is trying to tell his audience.
Rebuild is his reaction to the fans by giving them what they want and taking out the heart of his show and saying hey is this what you really want? I think you are missing that key detail.
I didn't feel that in the slightest.

That's pretty cynical take. If Anno did anything of the kind it was to please the audience, not to tell them to sit down and shut up.

It's strange to see people who started with the movies because Evangelion is part of my childhood. Maybe this is why I am fvcked up today lmao
