its inspired by the datsun logo which was a sun with a blue rectangle with the text datsun. if you don't know, datsun is the company that became nissan
Nissan, sun symbolism. The circle is a common sun symbol. KIA Has two pyramids in it. Between the K and I. KI, pointing to the left. And in the A which is missing the line in the letter. Honda an Hyundai have two styled triangles in it, one pointing upward and one pointing downward. Ford have two crosses in it, the styled F and the styled R. Positioned around the O, the sun symbol.
new and old tech You're somwhat right. Nissan's predecessor Datsun's name is a combination of the initials of the founders (D.A.T) and sun (b/c japan is considered the land of the rising sun). The Datsun logo is a red circle with a rectangle on top with the name on it. So when they formed Nissan, they carried over the logo/
The thing on Alfa Romeo is completely wrong: the red crossed flag is the ancient flag of Milan's patron saint Sant'Ambrogio and the snake (eating a child, not a man, is Tartanasio the supposed dragon that haunted Milanesi and that Visconti killed. Since then the dragon Tartanasio is the symbol of the Visconti family and of the city of Milano. A supposed rib of the beast is still kept (and visible) in an abbey close to Bergamo a neighboring mountain town close to the city while the snake-dragon eating a child is also the emblem of Internazionale Milano F.C. (But in team jersey colors blue and black). Ciao da Milano! :-)
Rover's logo is a Viking ship because the two brothers that started the company where born in Sweden. Before their end, Rover was the oldest company in the world making cars...older than the car, older than Mercedes They started making bicycles, in fact the two same size wheels driven by a chain to the rear was their patent, basically the setup of almost every modern bicycle.

+Adonis Amarante Back in the days there was a truck named Opel Blitz which means flash and it had a flash on the front. After that, Opel had the Zeppelin on a line in a ring. It should symbolize advanced tecnology. And some day they switched to the lightning in the ring. Also interesting: Citroen.
Lim18 and did you know that Enzo and Metzul were diseased and born respectively of the very same year? Really awkward story, which I suggest you to browse around...
It would have been nice to know what the Lincoln and Mercury logo were chosen from. Oldsmobile would have been a great logo to learn about as well. Also, the Maserati logo would have been interesting to know about as well. I hope that Car Throttle will do another video on car emblems. Great informative video about these car brands mentioned.
I am a car guy, but not into GTRs. I like Car Throttle. Subscribed very long time ago. But I can't enter this event to win the GoPro because I live far away, in a shitty country.

the two elipses in the midle represent the hearts of the customers and the company being united. the outer circle represents the world accepting toyota. also looks like a "T".
The BMW logo at the rear was actually an old warning sign indicating to those behind that the car may turn suddenly without warning (this was before indicators were invented). Many BMW still refuse to use their indicators as they believe the logo still does the same job. Just a small reminder: "mitsu" is not always three. There are different words for counting different shapes. You count paper with different numerals than you would could people or round or flat objects or books even.
Strange they don't know that the Chevrolet logo is simply a stylised steel fabricator's 'test piece'. Apprentice's were given a rectangular plate of steel which they had to cut to the 'bow-tie' shape, and then draw-file the various chamfered edges to 45 degrees to fit with another, slightly larger piece, also made with chamfered edge, but after the first piece had been taken away. The quality of the fit between the two finished pieces gave the master craftsman an easy indication of the skill of the apprentice. Some older logos actually showed the four bolts originally used to align the two test pieces, but these have been removed in later logos.
Mercedes Benz logo also means something personal, his creator last name was Benz, so when he had a daugther he drew a Star on a photo of his house on top of it that means where his daugther was born which name was Mercedes.

Baracca's horse was originally red but, since his death in battle, it was painted black in mourning and was kept that way when the family members gave it to the Drake.
+Car Throttle You should really consider going through your videos and properly linking the coming soon section at the end of each video once the next video comes out. It would really help with continuity when people try to chain watch your videos.
Did you know the connection between Ferrari's and Porsche's logo? The plane of Francesco Baracca, which then gave the prancing horse to Ferrari, gained that horse during a WWI air-battle. In fact Baracca destroyed a German enemy plane from Stuttgart (which pictured a prancing horse, symbol of the city). So Baracca in order to show off he was a winner, painted that horse on his plane
I always thought the Alfa Romeo dragon is breathing fire
I always thought that it's a snake 🐍 and that red thing is it's tongue
Usman Tariq Me too ,
nope
it is... The "man thing" is a nonsense
No, Alfa have stated it is a man emerging form it's mouth...
What about Nissan Logo ?
It's really mysterious
its inspired by the datsun logo which was a sun with a blue rectangle with the text datsun. if you don't know, datsun is the company that became nissan
Represent the planet Saturn, some say. Old worship.
It's just a circle, with the name NISSAN plastered across it! Kia says KIA, Honda and Hyundai are just stylized H's, Ford says FORD.
Nissan, sun symbolism. The circle is a common sun symbol. KIA Has two pyramids in it. Between the K and I. KI, pointing to the left. And in the A which is missing the line in the letter. Hey Car Throttle, remember when people used to have a second or so between each sentence. I hope that comes back into fashion.

except for the concept madura, which is the name of an island where people race bulls

What about the Toyota logo? Looks quite intresting to me
ραяαѕутє :D It’s a stylized “T”
no, the logo itself spells toyota if you look close enough
the two elipses in the midle represent the hearts of the customers and the company being united. the outer circle represents the world accepting toyota. also looks like a "T".
i love it when british people say german words 😃
greezes from Stuttgart
Chevrolet's logo is clearly just a bowtie
He obviously wanted something classy, and what's not classier than a bow tie?
Foltzy56 exactly
+Vincetagram Probably to tell the owners "Don't worry, you don't need a normal length tie to kill someone, our cars will do it for you."
chrwl007 ????

When you buy a Chevrolet, you've clearly lost the will to live. Most of them are badge-engineered Daewoos anyway.
You did a good video
Love the videos as always
I love how you go out of your way to pronounce foreign names correctly (with success!). You still got Modena wrong, tho ;)
and mercedes
you will notice that the letter h y u n d a i in capital letters will be seen in hyundai logo.
Same with toyota
i need a GoPro lol
when
Damn I just got a new-found respect for the Mercedes logo after watching this. Such class.
The BMW logo at the rear was actually an old warning sign indicating to those behind that the car may turn suddenly without warning (this was before indicators were invented).
Many BMW still refuse to use their indicators as they believe the logo still does the same job.
The logo at the front does the same function however most BMW drivers drive right up the back backside of the car in front to ensure that it is clearly seen.
I was born April 28th also!!
+David lee Barrientos me too.. do we get free lambos because of it?
Army of tauruses!?!?!

Me too!
+David lee Barrientos So we should all congratulate you here on April 28th. I hope I won't forget.
Another story on the Alfa Romeo badge is: A General from Milan during the Crusades freed Jerusalem from the Muslims. The Snake is Eating a Muslim.
lol damn, why does EVERYONE pronounce Subaru as Subru.......... Ghm, Ghmm, theres an 'a' after b :)
Andrey Ivanov I guess it depends on where you live. I've never heard anyone pronounce it incorrectly. 3 syllables. Sue Bah Rue.
Search up YT uploads of their earliest US television commercials, a British announcer pronouncing it as "Soo BAAR oo". Never caught on thankfully.
Andrey Ivanov ure logo is like the big brother of me
3:10 jeremy clarkson
The constellation of Subaru is called Matariki in Maori, it's also the Maori new year.
That's why Maoris love the Legacy wagons so much.
Where is Toyota!!
If you shade parts of it you can write the word TOYOTA
I work at Toyota, it's 3 ovals that represent 3 core values or some shit. They told me when I started lol
It looks like a dung beetle wrestling with its meal.
It's just an oval shaped T
Toyota is actually kind of interesting. The name "Toyota" is actually a misspelling of the company's founding family name, "Toyoda". Heck, the current CEO's name is Akio Toyoda.
In Japanese Hiragana it was found "Toyoda" had an extra stroke vs. "Toyota" and it was easier to write & create the logos for the brand. Hence the company's name
The logo of the ovals represented 3 core values of the brand overlapping each other, and it also forms a rough "T".
Its Porsche....not Porsha! Its not a woman's name!
Adam Steele yes
VGMStudios33 it's porsh*
nah its not... German speaking here (porsha actually sounds similar to the original pronounciation)
VGMStudios33 In German, each letter is pronounced, therefore the e is not silent and it is, in fact, pronounced like Porsch-a
ask any german - it has nothing to do with a persons name. It's the language halfwit
Mitsubishi is illuminati.
Mitsubishi - each rhombus is made up of 2 equilateral triangles on opposite of each other, the 3 rhombi put together actually forms a large single equilateral triangle... the large equilateral triangle is made up of 9 small equilateral triangles (3 of them are black, 6 are red)
The cross on the Alfa badge is not just the symbol of Milan, it's St. George's Cross too which is worn by crusaders and used by the English as well.
Wow, this was an interesting one - I didn't know about subaro and alpha romeo logo. great work guys! keep those awesome videos coming
Nice Video
Can you tell something about the BMW E36?
as the video said, mitsubishi in chinese (or japanese)means 三菱(three diamond shapes)
but GM has a brend in chaina name 五菱(five diamond shapes)
you can google 五菱 in google
im a proud alfa owner , i love looking at that badge everyday , for sure the best looking one.
I actually knew the stories behind the Audi, BMW and Mercedes logos. Great enlightening video!
Very intresting.
There's even more about some Names and logos...
After WW2 there were copyright-problems with the name 'Horch', so the son of the boss came up with the idea: "...let's call it 'Audi', the latin word for 'Horch' (= listen)

Lamborgini built tractors before he made sportscars (which he started after an bitter argument with Enzo Ferrari) Might be another reason for a bull in his logo?
Just a small reminder: "mitsu" is not always three. There are different words for counting different shapes. You count paper with different numerals than you would could people or round or flat objects or books even.
What does the Mazda logo mean?
I already knew Alfa, because I'm from Milan
Strange they don't know that the Chevrolet logo is simply a stylised steel fabricator's 'test piece'. I always thought the BMW logo was the symbol used in technical drawings for "centre of mass" And I still think that.
Mercedes Benz logo also means something personal, his creator last name was Benz, so when he had a daugther he drew a Star on a photo of his house on top of it that means where his daugther was born which name was Mercedes.
can i know about GMC Chrysler, does it mean problems I want to know
I don't know where u got that BMW logo fact but the employee brand history training talked about the plane propeller spinning
ALMOST 1MILLION, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

VW is just a V and a W....
+800573D “BOOSTED” Donut ohh thnx
Excellent explanation!
Could you please explain the Volkswagen logo? I can't get my head around that one for some reason.
waaaaaaa?
To feed your hungry mind, the V is on the top while the W is on the bottom.
+GooseMeister Good thing he didn't ask about the old logo that was on Type 1 steering wheels.
+chrwl007 Oh yes, KdF!
+chrwl007 the one with the hooks? definately shows the real face of VW

I really enjoyed the vid thanks for sharing. I don't think I knew a single one of those logos meanings

Awsome vidoe dude i really enjoyed it :) mate
I went to a factory tour of BMW in DIngolfing and the guy who guided us actualy said that the logo stood for the propelor of which parts get darker and lighter when spinning.
+imer clq thats wrong, it stands for the propelor but the colors are the bavarian flag in the wrong order
Those german car-brand names were pronounced flawlessly. I am very impressed.
