Surfboard of 'Apocalypse Now' changes life in Baler. Surf knows no war.

"You either fight or surf". In 1979 Francis Ford Coppola produced the film 'Apocalypse Now' in Baler, Philippines. The crew left behind a surfboard that started to change the life in Baler. Edwin Namoro and Raul Talentino were the first who back in 1979 learned to surf. Watch the clip to see how the surfboard changed their lives and how they live and surf today in Baler.

The romero bros were the first one to do surfing in Baler...then the Tolentino's .. And the Sindacs..The Namoros were not on that list bfor..they're not the first one..they did surfing maybe ten yrs after..and besides...some other foreigners visited Baler even after the filming of apocalypse now..they braved the rough roads goin to Baler to surf..most of them were Aussies befriended by the locals..wherein some of them left their surfboards..thus the start of unending surfing thats really addictive to the locals...salamat po..
