They should make a proper G shock version, the case is well suited for it, very utilitarian and rugged looking. Definitely a future collectible. Nice watch, nice video too 👍
I just wish to clear up a bit of confusion over which came first, the chicken or the egg,so to speak….the mission impossible watch was released nearly 10 years after the fist g shock DW-500C in 1983 the DW-290-1V came out in the early 90’s so it seems the g shock inspired the DW-290 not the other way around l would like to refer you to Watchgeeks review of this watch which is very thorough and historicly accurate -RG,Sydney
I bought one brand new. Right out of the box, I immediately applied matte nail polish on the the green lettering. So, far so good. I’m not worried of it rubbing off anytime soon.
Love the 290.....One of Casio,s Gems.....That,s why they have been producing them for over 30 Years !!......Good enough for NASA Astronaughts and Aquanaughts, the French Foreign Legion, various Military Units around the Globe, the FBI and of course....The wrist of Mr Tom Cruise.....It has a commendable History. I adore the design too.....Some people say it is ugly, I don,t agree, it has a certain appeal that makes you want to wear it more than far more expensive Watches you may have in your collection.....I,m actually wearing mine as I type this !........And for the guy who posted this Video....Thank you.....Buy a second 290 to wear.....Whilst one is in the Watch box ;).
First thing I bought this watch it was a beater ...now after a year I just love it ... cant go out without wearing it .... maybe that's the idea about casio beaters ...the relation becomes sentimental with the watch
I ordered one last night. I wonder if there's any way to seal the green paint so it doesn't wear off? Thanks for the vid, it helps to take the edge off of waiting.
it's very ugly but thats the beauty of this watch, I love mine, very functional, light, and the feel when you touch the buttons is a pleasure. I inverted the straps to avoid that agresive curves and it gets super confortable to wear.
@@casiowatchers7511 It may look like a g shock But doesn't have the g shock protection I bought Mine for £24.99 at Argos Whilst it was in the half price sale. I don't wear mine at all because like you I don't want to damage it.
For the price, you can do like TGV did, he bought more than one!!! You can store one to keep like new, and use the other. This watch is too cool to not use it!
Nice video. I actually just bought one! It's a marmite watch but I love it! Someone here commented that putting some clear matt nail polish on the lettering will protect it. Not being a nail polish expert, I never heard of matt nail polish, always thought it was shiny. Must ask my wife!
I just ordeted a second one to keep in my watch box so it will always be in perfect nick ! Now l can wear the hell out of my first one without obsessing about the green lettering wearing off…l really love this Casio RG,sydney
so as long as i dont rub the watch against anything the letters will stay on? i hear of too many people mentioning the letters disappearing like its some kind of disappearing ink. i like the letters and would hate for them to come off. casio should have made the letters more durable.
Hi there. Thanks for the great video! Please allow to ask one question. I got myself that great watch but I think the visibility, if I watch straight onto the display 90 degree, i think visibility is very bad. If I watch from a bit side angle I can see the numbers well. ANyone with the same experience? Just wanna know if anyone has the same experience. Thanks a lot :-)
Hi, not sure why that would be. My display is perfect from front on as well as slightly angled. Not sure why yours would be like that unless battery is going. Not something I’ve heard anyone else in my group say about this display.
@@casiowatchers7511 Thank you for your reply. Well I will replace the battery then and try. I actually didnt expect that possibility because I just bought it but I will give it a try. I love that watch and I am not sure why many channels call that the most ugly watch. Its simply fantastic and unique. A great time piece for any Casio collection :-)!
@@casiowatchers7511 hi there. I just wanna give a feedback. I replaced the battery and now all seem to be fine. The readability is much better now. I really didn't expect the battery is empty in a new watch but of course, never know how long it was sleeping in the store 😀. Thanks once more for the advice.
In certain angles and light it happens that the visibility looks a bit weak. It's because the visualize - chip is built in deeper. Still it's good dial

Thanks pal, and yes I agree. It would be a very popular piece if they made this a G

Very interesting! I don´t find it super ugly, just different from the majority, i have to get one one day
It was also one by an FBI agent

Did the nail polish work?
This is a great watch but you are spot on with the lettering! Some of mine has begun to wear off but I still love it.
Cool watch. I have the black and gold variant from the 90s.

Nail varnish clear coat or model paint clear coat maybe

Alejandro Flores I couldn’t agree more. There’s beauty in its ugliness 👌🏻

This is the only casio I own. The little brother of DW 5600 series
.love this one because it's shape.. futuristic robotic.. also because it's used in MI.. thank to let us join the Fb group..
The G-shock came out before the DW-290, so not sure it's a "pre G shock"
Pre G Shock as in it does what a G Shock does without the G Shock label, not chronologically.

Definitely created to bit the heck out of it, and not to stay in watch box, but it is an every owner decision what to do with its own watches.

@@lawdawgm2844 yes, the watch still looks like new.
Wearing mine behind my wrist bone is much more comfortable than on top of the wrist bone.
Nice channel. I am in. Just try and get yourself a microphone. I can hardly hear anything.
