Is there something else on the tip of that spear? Cause the fish looks dead at the moment of impact. I thought these fish were huge fighters. Great video though. Thanks for sharing.
I can't tell where they hit it at but I'm sure if they knock it in the spine or skull it's game set match, I was waiting for the fight as well. Maybe they tired it out on a rod and reel first?
@@imgrindin You could be right. I didnt even think about that. Been watching a lot of deep sea fishing but never saw a tuna large or small go down that easy though.
How much did you get for the two ? Once in PEI I saw 750 lb Tuna brought into port. The buyer was waiting on the dock and gave the fisherman a $26,500 check. The head and tail were removed, guess they cleaned it,then it was put into a reinforced, lined box (on a wooden skid ) full of ice and water, onto a truck for the drive to Halifax airport where it was flown to Tokyo , all within 36 hours.
This is hands down the most efficient, sustainable, and ecologically responsible way to harvest these animals. To those of you who are arguing "try catching one with real fishing equipment blah blah blah", please take into account that these guys aren't sport fishing, and also, (if you've ever even been out big game fishing) think about the last time you got spooled by a fish and the animal you killed by letting that occur. It's true bluefins are in a whole lot of trouble, but until they are on the actual endangered species list, people are allowed to fish for and keep them according to the laws of the country they sail out of. If you have an issue I recommend bothering the fine people over at the National Marine Fisheries Service or the National Oceanic And Atmospheric Administration Fisheries division, and maybe refrain from whining about it on someone's RUclips video.
if they are not "sport" fishing then WTF are they doing? survival hunting? life or death starvation? or just in it for the money, witch would bring it back to "sport" fishing... we all know people dont play "sport" just for the fun of it, and if they did do it just for the fun of it, then it would be a real sport....
XSRtiliry they're selling the fish commercially. It's their job, which equates it to survival hunting. They sell the fish to make money to feed their families. How does being in it for the money equal sport fishing? Go stuff your face with kale and stfu.
Saw a 750 lb Bluefin hauled in to East Point , PEI some years back. Japanese buyer paid $26,000 on the dock. Flown in ice from Charlottetown to Halifax and non stop to Tokyo by the following day.
Why do they put up less of a fight like this ? Always been my dream of catching such a big fish all im use to is scup, blues, stripers, and occasionally decent size sand sharks, we let those go though. Haven’t seen a tuna in the cape yet.
I really don't care what people say but This is is such an amazing video! I would love to try this some day. That takes such good skills. Good job dude!
These Are Atlantic Bluefin Tuna And Are Endangered Unlike The Normal Bluefin Tuna Which Are Smaller And Are On The Least Concern List Thats Why It IS HARD TO FIND Atlantic Bluefin Tuna AND THATS WHY U HAVE TO CHASE THEM DOWN
Can anyone who is familiar with this type of fishing explain why the fish didn't swim off? It is extremely unlikely that both of these shots hit brain or severed the spine. Especially considering how the fish fought for a split-second, then went belly up. Are they using electricity or something?
SharkB8 It doesn't appear so to me. And the chances of this happening on both fish are extremely low. In regular spearfishing, we "stone" the fish maybe 10%-20% of the time. And we're below the surface with the fish, shooting very accurate guns after years of practice. Additionally, on a fish this big, the spine is incredibly thick and very hard to break. Maybe I'm wrong and they got incredibly lucky, but where the spears hit the fish and how the fish reacted just doesn't seem like it.
SharkB8 Well that makes sense. By the time you gaff them they are very worn out. I dunno. If you get a minute, look up tuna spearfishing. They like to show the "stone" shots but these are somewhat rare. Often, shooting a tuna this size leads to an hour or more in the water trying to retrieve the fish.
That's because what you get in the can is actually dolphin, which are much smaller. Don't let the "NO DOLPHIN" sticker in the can fool you. The cans are made in North Korea!
Bluefin don’t make it into a “can” these days. Albacore and other smaller tuna do. At the biggest and best it’s yellowfin. Once upon a time bluefin tuna was considered junk. Cat food or trash. Not anymore bro. That’s all destined to be sashimi in Japan for big dollars.
+Chris W you are some kind of idiot!!....as for respect...are you joking?Does he hunt deer with planes also?? i dont think so.....but then again...an idiot like that just might!!
+Chris W ...Is that the best you have for a comeback? I suppose it is as you only have two clues , and one is chasing the other. When all else fails , resort to name calling , lmao....typical ignorant to real life american.!!
William Guy Thilgen Jr. I mean it’s not meant to be “sport fishing” it’s commercial fishing, and as a fellow harpooner once you get a few waves it’s pretty hard to hit fish
I just watched a video on eater earlier, the king of tuba at the market said that they often get tuna speared in the most valuable part of the flesh rather than the head. He bought one for 57k usd
Mmm not bad? Of course, if you like the idea of killing an animal of an endangered specie for money. I could not do something like that, it's worst than a human hate assassination.
I know I don’t have the courage to step up and fish this way (I’d fall off before making it to the point or piss myself trying lol 😂) too bad looks scary yet exciting & I love “fishing” All the best & remember your quota LoL Tried to get that great 👍 song in the link but wasn’t successful could you send me the name THx~~~Good Job

There is a zapper that hits the fish with an electric shock and kills them instantly.

That was nice how u guys hooked it into the boat by it's eye. Well done
What song is playing.I looove it!
How do they die so fast? I thought they were gonna run for a bit at least
Electric shock which stuns them temporarily. Then they just bleed out I guess
I thought you supposed to keep tuna cooled if its not in salt water.
I didn't understand anything...!
Where do I sign up looks fun as hell!!
Do you due tours? And if so how much and season

They are legally endangered.
The Atlantic swordfish's conservation status is "least concern".
This is bluefin tuna, not a swordfish.
how much you sold the fish
Why they died instantly, electricity?
What song was that ???
Good job, fellas. Thanks for the lesson. I have never seen it done before.
Amazing job. How much was the total cost for the vessels trip, crew and eyes in the sky. Just curious.

Just curious, why we're these roaming around in the ocean by themselves? I thought they moved in schools.
May I know how much can you sell per tuna?
JS Fishing
Wah...great business! If you catch 3 pieces per day than your monthly income will be 50 - 450k! You must be a multi millionaire by now!

isn't that exactly whyvyou shouldn't chase them down???
Actually Atlantic bluefin tuna isn’t endangered
So much misinformation in one reply. It's amazing
Is a tuna tasty by itself cooking with nothing but oil?
Yes most certainly
Amazing video!!! Well done. That’s tough

They hit the fishes spine and muscle tissue which causes them to do a responsive reflex then stop

i assure u they didn't use electricity but when i gaff tuna when fishing they seem to stop struggling mostly

alrighty
I cant get over how they can fit something that big in a can
x DANNYTHEBLADE x john west can
Lol let me know where you are buying bluefin tuna in a can. I'd love some.

Good video and top marks on the fishing.
That was cool. Drone footage of this would be awesome.
$4000.? Is that legal?
eletronic harpoon?
why do they stop dead in the water?
jerry can nah they just give up. No point in prolonging the inevitable. Tuna are smart
How that tuna died immediately !! Any poison !
Badredine Labiod 🤦♂️🤦♂️ dumbest question I have ever seen they eat that shit
HEADSHOT! 💕
Does the taste change from the electricity
Isn't those hole because of that harpon can damage and lower that tuna price?
Oh No and price drop badly if hit the expensive part on that fish
Amazing video. Good music. Monster fish. You have to respect the harpoon guys.

Awesome blood splatter at 2:40.
This is amazing great work guys great work
Ok, granted it is large, but it's the same as catching fish in a rain barrel. Is this really a form of "Sport" fishing?
William Guy Thilgen Jr. I mean it’s not meant to be “sport fishing” it’s commercial fishing, and as a fellow harpooner once you get a few waves it’s pretty hard to hit fish
Nice way to pull the second one on the boat to hook it in its eye...
This is electric shock
Wow this is so cool!
2 Bluefin probably close to 10k not a bad day of work at all.
Sulli Fishing each one of those can be 10k ea
rohtoUser Very true.It all depends on the fat quality of the fish.
I just watched a video on eater earlier, the king of tuba at the market said that they often get tuna speared in the most valuable part of the flesh rather than the head. He bought one for 57k usd

I would've bought a Lamborghini if i'm from that locality.
Тунец очень быстро отключился похоже они его по проводу электричеством добивают.
people are in love with the creation instead of the creator
awesome catch 😁😅😍😍
you stuck him good! awesome vid and awesome pics
Nice picture.....👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Love it! Good catch boys
Fish are jolted with an electrical shock, which kills them instantly.
D Wetick thanks. I was wondering.
D Wetick 4:20 it doesn't look instant
@Cheng Lee Would it be humane to treat a person that way?
@Cheng Lee What's stupid about it? Are you suggesting that if I did eat humans it would be humane to kill humans in this fashion?

sam sabile it’s called nerves
Just swimming along and then death raids down from above.
Great throw 👌
These fish are very beneficial meals for the predators in the oceans. Seems like we’re taking their food.
Tittle song???
Só pode ter veneno na ponta dessa lança, nunca vi um peixe morrer tão rápido.
Corrente elétrica, aquele cabo na pança passa corrente e o peixe morre com o choque
Ya'LL got skills!!! No doubt!!! Wish I knew how!
Those are some fucking big fish
Nice catch boys
Im just wondering, what happen if they accidentaly hit a dolphin? Hmm
That is one hell of a shot
que tiene de pesca esto ? no le dan ninguna oportunidad al pez
You doing great...
Fantastic i love this fishing!!!!
one of the world's most endangered species that isn't on the endangered species list. Leave the science to the smart people.
Jeffrey Eliot Please study and informed are not talking about whales or dolphins hunting
I love the 36 northern bay
in my country, rhe fisherman jump directly to the fish with wood spear traditional
Just subbed, i will definitely go harpoon a bluefin. Bet that was exhausting waiting that long
strange how they didnt fight .i think someone had an exploding head on the harpoon . not good for the meat
Phil Driver it's an electrically charged harpoon head.
The last I heard shocking fish was illegal.
Your information is incorrect.
Really? Since what year? Because I know boats that lost their licenses over that & some pretty heavy fines that were paid?
I think its when u shock a particular area killing off unwanted catches like small ones. Here, they just shock the fish they hit, don't they?
Smiling ear to ear ...just happy for this dude
