Fun fact about the waterfall, the reason it takes 3 minutes for it to open is that’s the amount of time it takes for a cup of instant ramen to cook. It’s a game sanctioned snack break. This is all well and good in Japan where a 3 minute timer is ubiquitous with instant noodles (and is referenced in Undertake with the “instant” noodles that take forever or use and don’t even do much), but is completely lost on a Western audience.
What the fuck I went to high school and middle school with you. Surprised To just see you on my recommended talking about my second favorite game of all time. Keep up the good work bro.

I always thought that was cool to give the player that option without hinting at it. It was like a happier alternate ending, it just felt right to see Paula turn to face the player with Ness' family.
In the epilogue when you're taking Paula home you're expected just to take her to her house, but you can go anywhere you want in the game with her and there's new dialogue
4:50 yeah soo ima do my own little lore dump. basically a couple named maria and george were abducted to take care of giygas when he was still a baby gigue and while George somehow left but marie stayed and sung him the melody basically. I absolutely love this video and find it awsome that you made a video about one of my favorite old games❤❤❤
LET'S GO! Just finished the video, and I loved it. For this being a nearly 50 minute video, I never lost interest. You kept it focused, funny, and there was so much passion put into it. Thank you, and keep up the good work!
I’m a pretty similar age to you and have been on RUclips for about as long as I can remember. This long form style of content is something I am so nostalgic for, diving deep into games with both comedy and a true understanding for the game. I will be anxiously waiting for every video put out because this is absolute gold, continue working hard ❤
i just finished this, and i genuinely believe this is gonna be one of those long youtube videos people can watch over and over again, i know i will, you should really be proud of yourself man !! also not to be all sappy but i did tear up a wee bit at the melodies part.
Fun fact! You can visit Lier X. Agerate right after Buzz-Buzz's death, and it turns out he's NOT a creep! He's actually just an eccentric signmaker/treasure hunter. And oh boy, he found something REAL interesting this time! In the big ol' cave system he dug out under his house... ...he found a *beautiful gold statue.* Anyway suffer through MOTHER 1 next
@@Sprinklespark08 Even then, Once you get Teleport you can spam it in the overworld to get through things like the swamp and Mt. Itoi plateau easily with far less encounters. PSI Stones are also busted as all hell as long as you don't roll the 1/8th chance of them breaking. Random encounters aren't as annoying on NES and GBA at least because you can run in the overworld unlike the original Famicom version, and cranking the text speed up helps a lot too. That's what's nice about M1/EBB. It gives you the tools to make the game more enjoyable. But yeah, a bit more patience is required for the first game. I wish more people would check it out, it's my favorite of the trilogy. It's the shortest and most replayable too (imo.) Especially if anybody plays on an emulator and uses fast forward because grinding annoys them. Sorry for the rant lol, I just wanted to chime in with my thoughts too.
Man, I got this in my recommended (a few days ago but I wanted to re-watch) because I'm back on that Earthbound kick and this is just genuinely such a great video, can't wait for the Earthbound Beginnings video
Really awesome seeing a younger dude enjoying my fav game from my childhood. I'm almost 40 now and this game was basically my comfort food of my childhood. In 1994 i had to move from Missouri to Denver and earthbound was my comfort game growing up for years. Great video. I'll prob fire up a new save file on the game tonight. Thanks :)
I've beaten the game around 90 times now and you're not wrong. That Magicant part is an awful slog at the end of the game. Too many battles before a boss thats too hard to solo honestly. You didn't mention it but that's where a counterfeit game bricks. The local grocery store in Columbia Missouri was renting a counterfeit copy so my first run though ended there until i bought my own copy.
Charjie! I’m ngl I Ioved your short form content on tiktoks/ig but when I heard you were making a long yt video I was p worried your style wouldn’t suit it, but brother I could not have been more wrong. It’s so obvious how much work went into this. Extremely funny, charming, and rly thoughtful at the end. EarthBound/M3 are two of my favorite games of all time so I especially loved this video, but you do such a good job capturing the game’s unapologetic chaos that it would be the same even if I hadn’t played it. Looking forward to your future content!!
As someone who never finished the game, and is new to this channel, I can agree that it feels well put together and does a good job at translating the vibe of the game to a video format. It's so well done.

As a Lucas Main in smash ult, I was always curious to know more about the, but too lazy to find out and honestly could have never guessed in 1 million years the amount of randomness and dumbness this story has and I’m all for it!😂 Thank you Charlie for the entertaining and well put together content

I first played this game in the 90's shortly after it came out. All these many years later I'm glad to see people still discovering and enjoying this gem of a game. I enjoyed watching you discover this game and it brought back all the feeling and memories when I first played it. I just randomly came across this video. Thanks for the upload was an enjoyable watch.

I respect you very much and I\ll be a fan from here on out
Thank you for bringing this underrated game to light! Edit: I just got to the ending and let me tell you. Beautiful. At the end it looked like this game really touched you. I subscribed and liked which I don’t usually like videos unless they really hit me with relatability and love. Thank you for this.
Just finished watching and I simply cannot wait for more long form Charjie content! Keeps all the comedy from short form but has a cute message towards the end. Definitely was caught off guard by what you meant by “Earthbound doesn’t care”
Though to give small criticism, even though I loved this video, I do feel like the conclusion of your video could’ve wrapped up in a more coherent way to get your message across but still amazing work and I genuinely cannot wait for the next one!
Never watched a video from this guy. Cool video i gotta sub. Im a younger gamer too and it was a trip going through this game for the first time. The charm and care that went into this game makes it easy to see its appeal with audiences in the 90s
I started playing earthbound for the first time a few weeks ago, and I watched this as a did so, watching your reaction to the things that I’ve done. Your video-making skills are great, dude! You should make some more longer videos, like this!
That conclusion rlly hit home for me I've always loved making stuff, but I used to find myself worrying that the audience won't appreciate it for what it is. But recently, I've gone with this "Earthbound" ahh approach lol and it's inspiring as all hell to see that other creatives have overcome this too. anyway, w video. I've been watching ever since the Wushu Island video, and to see the growth from then to now is absolutely insane. and congratulations on finishing this wild video :]
Came here to support the channel while updating a game. The 48 minutes was perfect for that amount of time. Been watching the Random Game Review series for the past few months, came here to kill time and was NOT dissapointed. Awesome video! Keep it up
i doubt youll read this but goddamn this video was amazing. perfect pacing perfect editing perfect humor. you have a future ahead of you man i feel like ive just discovered gold before it becomes a diamond or someshit. you have such a charm to your delivery that really engages me i fuckin loved this video!!! i cant wait to see what you put out next youre seriously the next big star dude i mean it. youve got somethin special here
Never watched a video from you before but i enjoy the content. Im a younger gamer as well but i went and played this game a few years ago and it was easy to see this games appeal
Highly enjoyable. Well paced, never felt the need to skip ahead even for a second, which with my attention span in the shape it's in is a rare event. I'm impressed.
This video was very beautiful. Your thoughts on Earthbound remind me of what I thought if it when I first played it. I remember beating Earthbound for the first time when I was in college by myself, away from my family, much like you did, and it was such a resonant feeling with me. I remember playing it as a kid and using cheat codes 'cause I had no patience, but the game always bugged out on me, so to properly play it through for the first time and actually see the ending was something else. No other video game up to that point ever really replicated what I had experienced after beating Earthbound for the first time. I remember playing and beating Fallout 3 that same year (I'm old) and it was nothing in comparison to what a game almost fifteen years its prior had accomplished. Thank you for making a video about this influential game, that to this day still reaches the hearts of so many people.
Hii, i’m from brazil,I just saw ur video in the timeline and i FUCKING LOVED IT,please continue posting, you are incredible, the way that you tell us the story from earthbound make the game a hundred times more interesting, The video editing is impeccable, perfect.

This video has to be one of my favorite Earthbound videos ever. Part of the reason I am motivated on finishing the game is just so I can watch this whole video without spoilers, I love catching up on this video along with playing the game. Keep up the amazing work!!
Gonna be waking up in a cold sweat at night thinking about how I need to finish earthbound now Also the editing in this video is so cool, moving jumble text like this fits the vibe of your content so well it's crazy.
This was a fantastic watch! I had the same reaction when I was first introduced to Ness many years ago. To see the game played out in a video like this was awesome! Great stuff, man.
This video truly made me feel like I was playing Earthbound again, you showed the some of the same feelings I had playing through it and it just reminded me of how great of a game this was.
Dude this was such a refresh video smh. It’s the first time I’ve been anticipating an upload from someone lol. It was great. I’m seriously looking forward to what else you have in store for us. Cheers man.
Another correction - there's a guy in Onett at the top of the mountain that originally dug up the statue, you can talk to him in the first chapter and see the statue before it ends up in Happy Happy village. In fact Pokey probably brought it TO Carpainter.
Just finished this. I wish I can use the powers of earthbound and pray for this man to be as successful as possible. He has a talent not a lot of people do and that’s keeping the viewing engaged. I think in 5 years we will look back on Charlie and realize that he was the turning point in this new era of content creation. I believe in you Charlie and please keep up the good work!

This video did not disappoint, man. Absolutely wonderful job, can’t wait to see you grow.
The charm and care that went into this game makes it easy to see its appeal with audiences in the 90s
your short form content is great but I love this style of long videos, please keep it up
holy shit slayworldalbania
You single handedly introduced me to this game, and now I’m obsessed with it
did someone actually finally make a perfect earthbound explained? i’ve been waiting for this for many years. thank you ❤
This was an awesome review of a game I (kinda) grew up with. I loved the energy and humor! Looking forward to more long form content @charjie 😄
Great vid! Binged it in one go, never played Earthbound myself - perfect recap:)
dude that conclusion was beautiful, almost got a tear outta me man
keep up the good work this is such a comfort watch
This video was incredibly well-made Thank you for showing this lovely game lots of love
I started playing earthbound for the first time a few weeks ago, and I watched this as a did so, watching your reaction to the things that I’ve done. Your video-making skills are great, dude! You should make some more longer videos, like this!
That conclusion rlly hit home for me
I've always loved making stuff, but I used to find myself worrying that the audience won't appreciate it for what it is.
Keep it up
Dude, just thought of earthbound outta nowhere and your video was my introduction to it. I loved the video, keep making them bc your very talented.
i doubt youll read this but goddamn this video was amazing. perfect pacing perfect editing perfect humor. you have a future ahead of you man i feel like ive just discovered gold before it becomes a diamond or someshit. you have such a charm to your delivery that really engages me i fuckin loved this video!!! i cant wait to see what you put out next youre seriously the next big star dude i mean it. youve got somethin special here
Never watched a video from you before but i enjoy the content. Im a younger gamer as well but i went and played this game a few years ago and it was easy to see this games appeal
I never get tired of watching fresh reactions to Earthbound. All the quirks, pains and amazing moments through new eyes. It's always a joy.
Quality content, great editing, wonderful commentary, new sub 👌
50 min entertaining through and through! You captured what makes Earthbound/Mother so captivating. Now make a Morher 3 one 😣😭
Hii, i’m from brazil,I just saw ur video in the timeline and i FUCKING LOVED IT,please continue posting, you are incredible, the way that you tell us the story from earthbound make the game a hundred times more interesting, The video editing is impeccable, perfect.

The Onett Police fight against Captain Strong is a reference to the 1991 highwayside beating of Rodney King.
All the way down to the one cop who nopes out.

This video has to be one of my favorite Earthbound videos ever. Part of the reason I am motivated on finishing the game is just so I can watch this whole video without spoilers, I love catching up on this video along with playing the game. Keep up the amazing work!!
Gonna be waking up in a cold sweat at night thinking about how I need to finish earthbound now
Also the editing in this video is so cool, moving jumble text like this fits the vibe of your content so well it's crazy.
Cheers man.
I’m only ten minutes in but this video is extremely well written and produced dude, you really gotta be proud of yourself for this!!
Another correction - there's a guy in Onett at the top of the mountain that originally dug up the statue, you can talk to him in the first chapter and see the statue before it ends up in Happy Happy village. In fact Pokey probably brought it TO Carpainter.
I think this might be the best video of all time
seeing my favorite youtuber talk about my favorite series ever is like a different breed of excitement
I wondered if your style from yiktok would translate well, this is amazing! Keep up the good work man
damn bro, you're rockin it with the Ness drip
