Thank you so much!! I’m 16 years old and my parents are immigrants and they push doctors and engineers but I myself do not have a specific path or life I want for myself. I love language and culture but I want a career that I can continue to move up and expand.Thank you for reminding me that the decision I make will not be permanent or irreversible.

I’ll look up RUclips videos on those types of majors to try to see if I could do something like that as a career path. Thank you 😊

@@temimoshood8638 hello! I know it’s been two years, but I was curious if it all worked out for you in that career field? I’m the same age as you were when you wrote this comment and I’m struggling to decide what to do in life. I have those same interests but not sure what jobs are offered that incorporate either of them. Thank you!

I have the same interests and the same immigrant parents issue they’ve told me to become a doctor from as long as I can remember. I’m curious what did u do or what have you decided ?

I love this video so much, I really relate to it since im also an anxious teenager going through exactly the same thing. It's so comforting to know that more people are feeling the same way and have worked through it. It's nice to hear someone else talking about this since it feels like people just brush these types of topics under the rug and don't like to talk about them. Thank you for being so transparent and optimistic about your experience :)

I really love this new series :)
You mention this in the video, but it's so right: the decision you make at 16 isn't irreversable, and there are generally always ways to change it, or even if that isn't an option, to tweak it a bit to better adjust it to your interests! There's so much pressure, but at the end of the day, doing what makes you happy is much more important than doing what society wants you to.
I'm so proud of my best friend who's made the decision to change Bachelors from German to Biology, he didn't think it would be possible but at the end, thinking about it and stressing about it was harder than actually making the change. (Kévin, if you ever come across this corner of the internet, I'm so proud of you!).
Thank you Dinara for your transparecy and optimism, and for talking about this topic, it's so important to try and reduce the pressure about this! :)

so i was worrying about what career path i should choose after high school today, because my cousins were here and they all seem to know what they're doing, or at least know what exams they're gonna take. i've always felt immensely pressured every time they mention stuff like this, because i've never been sure about anything myself, not even about my current high school course (which gives me anxiety almost every single day) or if i wanna take the major entrance exams in my country . this time it was probably worse, i almost had a panic attack a while ago. and i wanna thank you, because watching this video calmed me down so much💗 💖it really did. especially when you mentioned that people change their careers multiple times, and it's fine. those were probably the words i needed to hear just now. you're such a soothing talker haha 😊 i hope you're safe and well, thank you so much!

I want to encourage you that you really don't need to have it all figured out. And that it's definitely ok to change careers. I have done it twice in my life, and I love this for myself. 😊 If you're interested, I have actually done a video this week about it where, amongst other things, I also talk about how it's unrealistic to expect us to be able to choose one career path for the rest of our lives. Wishing you all the best! ☺️

thank you so so much for this video, i can’t even begin to put into words how much i needed this. i’m in such a floating, lost place at my life right now and don’t know what to do and discovering minerva, your channel and especially thiS video in a span of a day made me feel like i have something to work and live forward to. i really want to go to minerva and relate to so much what you’re saying because being tied down to one profession seems like a mental prison to me. but you’re so right, damn, life is not a constant but an ever-changing roll of ups and downs.
maybe this life has something to offer to me, maybe i have something to offer to this world and maybe this is me starting to strive for personal fulfillment and growth.
    thanks

Hi! Just wanted to encourage you that even as an experienced recruiter, I completely agree that we shouldn't be expected to choose one career path for the rest of our lives. It doesn't make any sense. 😄 I have changed my career twice (so far 😜), and I'm very happy about it. ☺️

Hey! I appreciate your video. I've heard many people say "you don't have to have it all figured out" over + over. So, it kind of lost its ability to reassure me. But when you said well always go through ups + downs regardless of the paths we choose --- that changed my perspective + actually made me feel better. I like having control + I've alway felt if I do this major or that major, it would help cushion me from the bad stuff in life, which just isn't true. Thank you for this video. 💕💟

Hi Dinara, hope you're doing well during quarantine.
I have a pre-grad in tourism and hotel management and I was about to get my grad (MBA i think it's called) but examns were cancelled. One of the things that I really appreciate about living in Argentina, it's the "free" college system, because my grandparents always told me that something that be should never do it's quit learning. My plan after I get my diplomma it's to work and be financially independent, but at 30 I want to start a new career, at least studying, just because I want to be te best version of myself and I love learning new things. Of course, it's going to be with my money.
Sadly, not everyone have the same chance, so I can understand how choosing could be difficult.
