How about... instead of carving into a big ass mountain, you give us a toggle so the network building height stays the same?
Estoy muy de acuerdo, un botón de mantener pendiente y mantener elevación, tanto en caminos, túneles , cómo en líneas de servicio.
En el skylines 1 era al revés, faltaba que siguiera al terreno XD
Exactly what I was going to say... toggle option to have "absolute height" and "relative height"
Note that she explicitly _doesn't_ keep the height the same, but rather _lowers_ it in order to get a different style of tunnel entrance.
So while your suggestion probably does have use cases... this isn't actually one of them.
@@Leyrann she doesn't keep the height because the game forces you to go down to start a tunnel. What should be the case is we can keep the road flat as it goes into the tunnel and we can toggle any segment to be a tunnel like with the road tools mods in the first game.
Cutting out and reforming a whole mountain for a tunnel is absolutely ridiculous.
And the saddest thing about this is that they show it as if it were a normal thing to do.
this is the one thing I have to agree with. just need to wait till paradox mods are out
"Our tunnels suck by default and there's no good tool to improve them easily. So here's a hack for you"
Ridiculous*
@@iconix1642 fixed. 😊
That tunnel mechanism is so unnecessarily difficult
Too much work for tunnels. The tool should do the tunnel straight away.
Demolishing a huge mountain for a tunnel is nothing but inspirational.
The " tunnel creation" part is a joke right?
Cut and cover, now for mountains!
Toadie did a great job showing how to work around some of the worst interfaces in C:S2! Devs please, better interfaces like you did for the highway road networks are what we really want from the sequel.
It seems like a joke, to build a tunnel you need to destroy the mountain
Is the tunnel tip a real joke ???
I hope i'm dreaming... i mean it's a nightmare to see a dev publish a tutorial video and show how lazy they are 😬
Yeah, what a joke ! I paid for this game and this is how i have to play ? lmao.
I refunded it, square enix forced CO to release this game when it wasn't ready and now it tainted their reputation @@inspecteurderrick1860
there is no way y'all made the tunnel segment and didn't think "wow we should make this way easier to do"
I was thinking of buying the game but this single video changed my mind. Thanks.
"Our road building tool is shitty in some situations and we also don't let modders fix that for us, but there's a workaround for this" - this video in a nutshell.
There needs to be more precise ways to manipulate tunnels/walls/cut&fill/etc. Terrain alone just won't cut it, it's too inconsistent and prone to visual glitches. This video is a perfect example of why better build tools are sorely needed.
Not happy with the way the mountain was split into half. There should be a better way
For the tunnel (for anyone who actually wants to do a tunnel without blowing up a mountain) you just need to level out the start and end of the tunnel to get the entrance and exit correct, then you can simply ensure you have an underground elevation (the screen will go dark to show underground mode) then just connect the roads with any of the road tools. Finally, fix the terrain at the start and ends and your tunnel will look great.
I did this to build a rail tunnel underneath a plateau next to a river in my city!
That method for cutting through a mountain is insane! Like what
Wow tunnel... is this the best??
How did they even approve this mountain terrain thing for the official channel
I wonder how much it would take to excavate that much of a mountain in real life :)
Making tunnels has never been harder, I mean easier
Ain't nobody got time for that!
Just give us a 'Move It mod' equivalent!
Why would I even bother with tunels, I can just flatten the whole thing for free. Mountains look awful in CS2 anyways.
It's so frustrating that we (players and fans) have to explain this. All we wanted was CS1 with mods integrated.
My city with 60K won't even run on 3x speed - the game still needs optimization. And I have a monster system, so I'm sorry for anyone gaming on budget.
But great job on marketing the game! You REALLY sold it to us with all the big youtubers playing the pre-release and uploading fancy little videos. Next time you wanna screw me, at least give me a kiss and take me for a date.
Building a tunnel should not be that difficult
536 likes vs 284 dislikes
This says a lot about the current stage of the game
Same on all their videos lately. Currently 558 likes / 303 dislikes. They have a long way to go to turn around public opinion.
@@sherrisville Not THAT far. Gamers have proven over and over and over that instead of delaying your game a year, you can just spend the first year of release fixing it to the same outcome -- so why NOT release it early. Look at Cyberpunk, NMS, etc.
Not to mention that angry review-bombing fandoms are usually a tiny part of the overall "public opinion". CS2 had double the number of active players at launch compared to CS1's launch. And after 2 months is averaging about 14,000 active players -- similar to CS1. If all this ire from gamers were ACTUALLY harming their sales or player counts, we'd see it in these stats. But we don't.
Angry video game fans have developed such a consistent subculture of insular overreaction and short attention span that it's basically a non-factor at this point. Outrage is rather indistinguishable from praise statistically. The only thing that actually kills a game is disinterest.
Sincerely this game is stillborn
Thanks for having me! Sometimes it's great to get back to the basics. : )
You should run for mayor at ur city, didn’t even know u could do half the things u did in the video lmao, good work tho
Why, for all that is holy in this world, don't we have ctrl-z to reset landscaping done? Making tunnels and similar stuff in CS I was a breeze because we could undo landscaping, step by step, with ctrl-z.
It wasn't that difficult to implement the multitool network slope tool or a "straigh slope" inside the base game, it's just a tool from one of the mods...
It was clear to all of us from day one that having to terraform before building each road and not being able to modify it was quite heavy to play, but what this tutorial shows us is already too much…
I know you guys are working hard on it and the game is a pass, but this becomes a very high priority thing…
They have no clue what they are doing apparently because they had all of the solutions already in prequel game. This shouldn't be a rocket science for them. If they have access to the CS1 source code then they could implement a lot of solutions immediately but for some reasons they behave like create everything from the scratch.
@@Faltery Did you watch the previous video? They explicitly addressed that they built the _entire_ game from the ground up. Which means they can't just copy things from CS1.
And let's be real, the base game's tools in CS2 are _incredibly far_ superior to those in CS1. And with that better baseline, plus perhaps extra additions in future patches (obligatory reminder that this kind of stuff is never put behind a DLC), once it's here it'll probably work much more smoothly than the mods for CS1 could manage. And even if these options _aren't_ added to the base game, then the _mods_ that will eventually be made for it will likely be smoother than the CS1 mods too, thanks to said better baseline.
@@Leyrann still, they had all the ideas for mechanical improvement laid out neatly in front of them. It feels like they never even looked at the workshop. Like, not even TM:PE functionality? Actual traffic control? Casuals could just ignore it and play the game without it while the core fanbase would've really appreciated these kinds of features. But no, we have an obnoxious radio, cims have high poly teeth, eye balls and a more detailed CV than myself lol, all kinds of simulations running in the background, which is cool but most of the time you wouldn't even notice. All while basic gameplay mechanics that could have made the game a massive improvement from CS1 are missing or lackluster and make the game feel frustrating a lot of the time. There are no bikes, zoning anything that is not a perfect grid is still garbage, we still have no easy control over what our roads are doing (cut and fill/retaining walls, tunnels, elevated roads etc. as very well demonstrated in this video). Not even talking about the performance. There are already mods out there tackling some of these issues and they make the game so much better. A shame that they'll probably never be as well integrated as base game features though. But hey, they most likely have the next dozen DLCs already planned out, gotta pay the bills am I right?
feels like everything is a workaround or hack to make it look nice ! Some good tips here though - thanks !
So I guess it’s the “OFFICIAL” way of making tunnels in this game now?? No wonder they made terraforming free in CS2… it is really disappointing 😢
The Incas dug big ass tunnels through their mountains without machines but a videogame in 2023 where you can simulate an entire modern city with some accuracy cannot do that?
All we really need is Move-It. I'm somewhat surprised it wasn't just incorporated in to the base game. Moving structures before redoing all of the terrain height is so much better, and seemingly more realistic than placing a building on a hill and one half of it at road height and the other half 20 feet lower. Especially with things like parks that blend in to the environment. Just a corner of park grass that doesn't match the height of the surrounding grass. Also I have no idea that's happening with this tunnel in the mountain. We can already just plow a tunnel in to a mountain. Hollowing it out like that is... a lot.
Hmmm ... I'll wait for a tunnel mod
CS2 in a nutshell.
"Nah, I'll wait for [insert random core game mechanic] mod."
what is happening with that 150 foot retaining wall network in the middle of the city?! the scale of that is insane
I just cannot explain it to myself... are you guys trolling customers and try to pretend that everything is fine or you really believe like terrain shaping is a new cool feature? Terrain Shaping tool is/was available in Cities Skylines 1 with MUCH better outcome and graphics. First of all - water physics were better in CS1. In CS2 it's a joke. You couldn't recreate it even in your own game sequel and now you present this poor solution like it's something new. Did someone steal source code of CS1 and you had to prepare CS2 from the scratch by repeating all of the bugs CS1 had on launch? Because it doesn't look like a sequel but totally new game made by amateurs - not CS1 devs teams.
That mountain tunnel tip was pathetic 😂
Would be nice if you could have a smooth slope on the roads without the heavy use of terrain tools though. Like roads that max out on a selected grade.
Yes, that's it. Max grades for networks. Customizable. Making realistic roads would be so much easier while making great use of the cut and fill and elevation mechanics.
What about giving us the moding tools.
Let me highlight how everytime you use the landscape tool, theres jagged/shape edges after you finish. It's never smooth
Just like with this video it looks like the devs don't really know what they are doing... How could anyone in their team look at this and say "Oh yeah, it's a really good tutorial, you can post it Karen!"????
Paradox just looks like a bunch of bad managers in a coffee shop.
That practice for building tunnels under montains is a massive overkill. Leveling the mountain like that is super unnecessary, i could not find any situation were this was necessary (thankfully)
So why do we need to spend a lot of time for build a simple tunnel?!
Tunnels take a long time to build in RL, so they found a way to translate that into the game lmao
@@prodbyNOVAER 😂 good one!
It's real?
The game should do it for us. Not us by our hands.
0:31 totally realistic railway bridge-_-
The dev team posting a video showing such a ridiculous way of doing something in their own game is outrageous. Y’all should just refrain from posting things like this :/
This does not sell me on the game. Horrible texture pop-in, weird flickering, ludicrous botches for landscaping, and label spam on the road tools until you can't really see what you're doing... ugh. What a mess.
I thought on the promo we were going to be taught how to build transportation up to a peak.
I miss the steam Workshop ;(
landscape tool is just a mess this really isnt what players want whatsoever
how can you not do the same thing you did in the first game ? did you lose your memory ? or did you lose the codes ? FIX THE DAMN GAME
The landscaping tools are great! 😊
However, a tunnel should be toggleable/forced. The work around in this video is going to look ridiculous in a few months when the game changes this requirement or a mod is introduced.
You should embed these videos into your game.
interesting
bro, we shouldn't have to waste all the time on the damn terrain, and completely removing an entire mountain just to make A TUNNEL is ridiculous especially regarding you have to add it back.
Tunnel building is bugged.
I cant figure the landscaping tool out, i just end up making a huge mess.
I cant seem to make thje land flat, if there is a lumpy terrain and i cant build a road without it showing it is raised, so in this case i want to level that lumpiness but i cant figure it out.
I just make a mess it makes volcanos
me "OOOOOOOOOOOO tips mmhmm mhhmm yes ok i see *takes noteS*" the rest of the comment section "I DONT WANNA REBUILD A MOUNTAIN!!!"
This is an ad for why not to buy CS2. Rebuild a mountain in order to make a tunnel?? 😂
any landscaping tool moves terrain to bottom level of map with one click and makes that area unuseable
pls add demo for christmas please
How to release mobile phone PC same graphics????
What a joke
I'd rather not build into a huge mountain like that, tbh... I suppose it works given the current setup though 🤷🏿♀️
Is this an early April Fool?
I feel like you guys try to normalize visual bugs and glitches and never actually listen to the community.
Do you seriously think we dropped 89.99 bucks just to watch you teach us how to carve terrain😡?
Please give us better tools.😤
Very nice and helpful! Yay!
2:00 are you even serious? Why are you making tutorials on how to use a bugged feature?
Is Turkish language support possible?
A tutorial on how to use a tool that clearly is broken. This sadly isn't the way. Positioning the building of a tunnel by using landscaping tools is clever, but wrong.
Please develop a cities skyline 1 for Android
Man, this game is just such a disappointment. Why are the features from the original road anarchy mod not included? Should be an option to force tunnel, bridge, ground or elevated when making roads and rail. Zoning system is still the same and doesn't work with curved roads and is a pain having to run temporarily paths to correct the zoning. Building on slopes is the same and not improved from the first game. There's no props, mods or quality of life or detailing options. Hate to leave bad feedback as I loved the first game and was so excited for the sequal, but it's so frustrating after the pre release marketing that got us all hyped up to buy the game and realise we've been sold an early access beta at full price :(
This is how the shame looks like
Why not provide us with basic tools instead of advertising these overcomplicated "hacks"?
We'd rather have mods 🙄
The tunnel sequence is a joke right? ... right?
Just play soviet republic
GIVE US CONSOLE PLEASEEEEEE
You don't want it in the state it's in.
fix the game
This is so stupid lmao
This is a joke right? Right?!
Nothing in this video looks even natural ..
Cities skylines 2 xbox one Christmas
What!!!??? This is just embarrassing. Why can't you make the tunnel tool just build the tunnel straight????
Here before this gets popular
👇
Has everyone in this comment section already forgotten that tunnels in CS1 were _just as hard,_ if not _harder_ to build?
Criticizing CO for not improving the tool? Sure. But why are y'all acting like this is the first time you're coming across the difficulty of building tunnels in Cities Skylines? Or is it just that you _are_ coming across it for the first time because you never bothered trying to put a road through a mountain before, until you saw this video do it?
They've had years to learn from the first game and it seems they haven't learnt anything at all
@@sherrisville that's what I'm thinking. Making mistakes is human. Repeating the same mistakes all over again is just plain stupidity.
someone make the moveit! mod. this is the fastest way to do these tricks !
