Had this on audio cassette as a kid. Me and my brother cried with laughter at the Aussie insurance claims. God bless youtube for always having everything and thanks for the upload
Robert Powell was my idol, in things like Doomwatch ,Jesus of Nazareth, (you would have, wouldn't you?!!!) then seeing him in TheDetectives was total joy, a natural comedian too! I now have to go find a few episodes. Thanks for reminding me.
My dad and I used to listen to this on cassette tape when I was a kid. So many memories get brought back hearing these jokes. As someone else said, back in a time when everyone wasn’t professionally offended.
Went to see him a few years ago. Great show. One of the audience shouted you "Why aren't you on T.V. any more"? Without a pause he said "I can't cook" Brilliant come back.
Went to see Jasper at the Hippodrome in Birmingham back in the 80s. He was brilliant and like all observational comedians (Jasper, Peter Kay, Michael McIntyre, Victoria Wood, Billy Connelly etc), supremely funny and at the top of their game without being political, snide or plain nasty.......those were the days!
When I was at school a friend lent me Carrott In Knotts (this was about 1976) and I laughed my head off. I'd never heard a comedian like him. He's just as funny now, especially telling the kind of jokes that modern comedians would never dare to.
In nineteen ninety, a golden year, Jasper Carrott brought us cheer, With humor sharp and wit so bold, His laughter, like pure 24 Carrott Gold. Live on stage, he took the floor, A comedic genius we all adore, With tales of life and everyday strife, He made us laugh throughout the night. From Birmingham's heart, he did emerge, A comic legend, our spirits to surge, His jokes, like treasures, precious and old, In the timeless humor of 24 Carrott Gold. With every punchline and witty quip, He made us laugh, our troubles to skip, In laughter's embrace, we all enrolled, As we reveled in the magic of 24 Carrott Gold. So here's to Jasper, the comedy king, Whose humor made our hearts sing, In the world of comedy, his story is told, A priceless gem, our 24 Carrott Gold.
When I was in my teens me and my girlfriend used to babysit for a couple across the road. The guy had jaspers album "The stun" I used to put it on every time we were there, she used to say "for God's sake, not again" but would have tears rolling down her face from start to finish.
I watched Jasper Carrott as a child, I watched this Live when I was 10. Its obvious to me now, this man had a Major impact on my forming personality at the time and I cannot thank him enough for that. My life has been abit of a pickle, to say the least, and I doubt I'd have gotten through it without the wisdom I received from this person. Thank you, forever.
Fun Fact: I used to deliver fruit and veg to Alvaston Manor and each morning the head chef would 'give us' a free bacon roll (together with some danish pastries) I never complained when delivering there !
Omg I can't believe this is on here! Me and my friend used to luvv him when we were teens... before I watch now I'm remembering jokes....the wash and go....women's eyebrows and lollypop the cat😮😂this is gonna be weird and wonderful 😍
Carrott was and still is brilliant. At school a few of us mates got to hear him .. I've forgotten how brilliant his stand-up is. He got me with Mole story in the early 80's
One of my favourite Jasper Carrott songs he did in a live show recording was Chastity Belt, but using the quip of Spoonerism, changing front letters of words around in the verses, absolutely hilarious 😆
@@dazivee he is, there was a time when Billy wasn't at all popular in England but jasper had his own show on tv. Also although I think BC is hilarious I know several people who don't like him because he swears so much whereas jasper doesn't.
Surprised he did the East Midlands Airport / M1 motorway joke seeing as the Kegworth Air Disaster happened the year before this gig. Things were less sensitive back in those days eh. Great gig! Love Jasper’s jokes.
When Jasper came to Ipswich to do a show, he stayed at a hotel I worked at. After his show he came back and wanted something to eat but the kitchen was closed, if I remember correctly I cooked him either a Dover sole or a steak. Bit of trivia, anyone know the connection between Jasper Carrot and the tv show The Office?
Thank god, a sane human! I only came here because i saw that he was doing some shows soon and it’s just full of people saying ‘this wouldn’t be allowed these days!’ I was expecting insane racism from the get go but… just a funny bloke telling jokes.
I still do the hangman song now lol. Oh and mellow yellow and the stolen harmonica plus one he didn't do here "If I were a carpenter, I'd screw you to the bed!"
Have we ever ascertained whether 'Wikipedia' was in fact named in deference to this particular JC routine? Where he says that the word that means everything in Chinese is 'wiki.'
Just listened to this show in March of 2024. Nearly choked myself laughing..... You'd never get this on TV today.
Had this on audio cassette as a kid. Me and my brother cried with laughter at the Aussie insurance claims. God bless youtube for always having everything and thanks for the upload
Same with me when I was a kid, although on tv. That was a great bit.
me too. And biffa the dog... and Davina Jacobson.....
I had it on VHS. I was on the floor with tears streaming down my face hardly able to breathe.
Grew up watching Jasper. Family sat all together watching . Good ole days.Parents gone now.🌹Great memories.
I love Jasper Carrott, grew up watching him. Also love The Detectives series. One of the best series ever made
Yes it is spidder, yes it is
The Detectives was brilliant. Still hilarious even now.

Thank you Jasper Carrott for all of the laughter you brought to our lives ❤xxx
We all must be getting old, I am so glad I lived when great comedian were performing like Jasper to name one.❤
His voice and jokes remind me of laughing at them with my father who died years ago, I can still bring such good memories back listening to this.

I mean, I just watched the Louis Theroux with Keith Harris and Harris makes that exact joke. That programme is about 20 years old 🙄
@@Hedge_witch Probably a couple of years after I saw Jasper.
Absolutely brilliant!, Japer Carrot, please watch this... it's true to life. not just in the 90's, but ever.
A great comic 👍 lovely to watch. I forgot how good he was.
pure gold, only Jasper can be this good!!

This show should carry a health warning.
My stomach hurt for hours after giggling for the duration.
Magic, absolutely magic.
I was six years old in 1990
I'd give anything to have those days back again 😔

I saw Jasper at De Montfort Hall, Leicester many years ago. He was brilliant, funny from start to finish. Definitely one of our best ever comedians.

Absolutely excellent unbelievablely unique an amazing talent
Thanks for this wonderful clip. Saw him last night in Leamington Spa. Still brilliantly funny and sharp as ever.

@@TheRealBigDan YES! had that too! Listened to those so many times!
Yes there was a few of them for Comic Relief. Peter Cook & Dudley Moore was another one
Proper comedy, just gold.
Are used to watch this guy when I was a kid it was hilarious
He is spot on about the sixties.I was 16 in1967 never met a hippy , never saw any drugs or flower power , no free love women during that decade.
I also was born in 1951 and joined the RAF, never saw any of the 60's.
Eh? What age did you join the RAF - 9? If you joined at 18 that would be 1969!
I was sixteen in 1967 plenty of flower power etc in Norfolk.
Amazing talent
Seen him a few years ago and hes still got it
Absolute CLASS.
Saw him live years ago in Oxford. Missed half the jokes, laughing soooo much
Brings back memories Jasper was excellent and Victoria wood
I think Mr Carrott would have had some fun with your assessment…! 😉
100%
Carrott was and still is brilliant. At school a few of us mates got to hear him .. I've forgotten how brilliant his stand-up is. He got me with Mole story in the early 80's
It was his version of the Magic Roundabout in the 70s for me.
The mole story....absolutely brilliant. Cried so much. Wonderful comedian.
An extremely talented man multi talented good singer and guitarist as well as a great comedian
Clean intelligent humor...not like today...
One of my favourite Jasper Carrott songs he did in a live show recording was Chastity Belt, but using the quip of Spoonerism, changing front letters of words around in the verses, absolutely hilarious 😆

Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!😂😂🎉🎉😂😂😂🎉😂😂🎉😂😂

Bloody hell forgot what a genius this guy is.
On a level with Billy Connolly
Not even close to Billy Connolly!
Their careers both started out in a similar way.

Back when we had a country and everyone wasn't professionally offended
Like you?
Jasper Carrot was never offensive. Everything was tongue in cheek.
Did you miss the bit about Mary Whitehouse or is your selective memory working on the video too?
I didn't know the country had disappeared. Everything ok Gammon.
Don't take it personally. Your grand parents probably felt the same. Things change.
An amazing guy.
top class and always will be
Brilliant remember watching this show and the detectives before everyone was offended 😢

His daughter played Dawn.
His other daughter was the actress Jennifer ehle.
and his mother was Kim Kardashian@@markdaly1648
Lucy Davis, his daughter (his real name is Bob davis)
Sooooo funny 😂😂😂😂
Ahhh the good old days, when a comedian was able to speak freely without fear of being cancelled 😂😂
What did he say that would get him cancelled?
Ahhhh the good old days, when comedians weren’t deliberately mean to marginalised peoples to be “controversial”
He is retired after ill health. Think he had cancer
@@markdaly1648JC has a gig Nov 30, 2023. Not retired yet.
I worked at the Alveston Manor Hotel x
Forever brilliant.

He's 78 now!
