Funny, I just finished a character lately in Houdini. But I'm struggling a lot with the dynamics. Like, it's not that hard to make earrings using Chain or even CopyToPoint, but how to simulate that with Vellum on an animated character, *that* would be interesting. Right now I can't even add stiffness to Vellum hairs to keep the hairstyle intact a bit while moving, Vellum is a nightmare when you don't know what you're doing, nothing works lol
To be honest I'm hesitating here because what I need most is more KineFX and Vellum knowledge. And I would probably never use L-System or particles to make patterns on a character
(Edit: ok I bought it anyway lol I'm sure I can learn one thing or two ^^ )

I will try and make another series on an animated character. Vellum is hard to control. For hair to maintain its shape, make sure you don’t have too many points. That always helps. Also low gravity. It’s a cheat but it works. As for the earrings, RBD is better, not vellum. I did try it once. You need to setup an RBD glue constraint. This was my first attempt at building a full character in Houdini. I am definitely going to try and do it for an animated character at some point in the future but not immediately.
Also, if you don’t find anything of much use in the training, just write me an email and I’ll refund the money.

@@rohandalvi ah I was writing an email at the same time x) I don't think there's a need for a refund, so far I watched video 4 to 14 and I already learned a few important tricks. I really want animation for my last project (just because I'm tired of stills :) ) so I'm gonna work hard on that this time. KineFX feels almost easy compared to Vellum to be honest, I still have a long way to go x)

It's called bitbop. I downloaded it from the RUclips music library 8 years ago. I should add that to the description.

Hi Rohan, I just bought the course. I really like it so far! Not sure the best place to get in contact with you about questions etc for the course: all I really wanted to ask was, have you heard of the Sagan Alembic exporter for Daz? You mentioned early on in the course that the offical daz one isn't working but the Sagan one works really good!

Hi, that's for the suggestion. I'll look it up. The big issue is that daz doesn't export the high res mesh with fbx which is why i had to do the point deform workaround. That's why alembic is sometimes better. But the advantage of fbx is that you get the bones and you can do additional tweaks to the pose after the fact. So it's a bit of a catch 22. But i will look up the alembic plug-in.
