      Hi Urisina Maclellan. Lol. Yes I saw that idea on another RUclips video a few years back. ( It works well too) It was a new Zealand fencing contractor. They are some of the best out there I'd say. Cheers, Calvin

    I do a lot of stock fencing, I put one strainer every 5 coils or 250mts of sheep wire, or every change of direction, you put that post in solid, I don't go to so much trouble, just stay them with bull wire and strut them in the direction of the wire.

    So after exhausting myself mentally the last few days learning of all the various methods of bracing corner posts I've settled on the diagonal brace. I've seen a lot about the floating brace where the strainer post just sits on a block on the ground. I trust the method but I'm not sure I comprehend it yet, and I haven't seen any discussion about doing it that way as opposed to doing it your way or even putting it in the ground and pouring a block of concrete around it.

    Great vid but the first time it loaded, the subtitles started and I'm guessing they were added by an automatic process as they're hilarous but totally unhelpful if you're hard of hearing ! I'd wonder how many people have gone to a hardware store to ask for a four inch post older guy - instead of a post hole digger :)

    I need to build a small wooden base for a metal shed so would you pay extra for treated timber.

    • @CalvinThomas05
      @CalvinThomas05  5 лет назад

      Hi hard worker. Yes I'd say its worth paying the extra for tanalised timber. Normal stuff won't last very long when it gets wet. Cheers Calvin

    Not bad. Could do with a longer strut. Post deeper into the ground. And a nice fitting strut with out the nail. But what do i know

    • @CalvinThomas05
      @CalvinThomas05  5 лет назад +4

      Hi Grow Tyme. Yes you're right maybe they could do with going a bit deeper. I usually go at least 2,1/2 feet. I never have any posts moving because I do these strainers every 25 mtrs. On big distance or soft ground yes go deep. Cheers Calvin

    I think the worst thing about fencing in UK is the poor quality of the material available from the stockiest. Lucky to get ten years out of the strainers and steaks/stobs. Telegraph poles are a good way to go but they are getting hard to find. That looks tidy enough and will outlast most things. Fencing styles vary all over the world so there is no right or wrong way. Here in NZ we tend to go lower with the strut. Have a good day. Cheers.
