I really like that you showed exactly which interfacing you used. Many times people do videos and just say use interfacing. It was so helpful to not have to guess between the hundreds of interfacing available.
Girl, you rock. I can't believe you pulled this together so fast. I know this is going to rock a lot of people's worlds. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks with us! Can't wait to try it myself.
Hey, friend! I didn't realize that was you until I scrolled down to leave a comment saying thank you so much for the information! You have just been super duper helpful to me and my new Cameo :)
Thanks for the tutorial. My craft store is super small and didn't have Pellon 805. So I used freezer paper and it worked great, I was also able to pull it off an the felt went back to sticking to other felt with no problem.
Ohhhh, good to know!
Holy cow, this video has 3,557 views?! Going back to read my original comment, it was prophetic - - this clearly DID rock a lot of people's worlds. You go, girl!
I DON'T EVEN HAVE MY SILHOUETTE YET BUT I WAS INTERESTED THOUGHT IF I WATCHED ENOUGH IN ADVANCE I COULD GO CRAZY... ;)
Glad I found this video. My mother was asking me if my silhouette cameo can cut felt material. We plan on doing a project for my grandmother. So this will be put into my favorites.
Thanks for a great video tutorial. I bought my cameo a year ago and had trouble cutting some small numbers - I'll know what to do next time - I came here after following a link on your blog - I'll add you to my youtube subscribe list :)
Have you tried to run the cut a second time? Instead of unloading the medium when it finishes, just run it one more time with a double cut. I found the I was able to get it cut through some stencil blanks completely after it didn't cut completely with one round. I haven't played with felt, but I thought it worked for one thick material it wasn't working on that it might work here.
I THINK A LOWER SPEED IT WORK BEST, OR LIVE THE PAPER ON IT UNTIL IT CUTS. LIKE IT,
Yeah I don't have a fabric blade, so I had to snip a little bit of the felt when I was done. But for the most part, I cut thru 12 pieces of felt and didn't leave a mark on my mat
What does the pellon 805 do? Can I skip that step or will my silhouette not cut if I skip it? Thanks!
Thanks Jessica.... What fun
I was scared of doing this with felt until I saw this. I'm going to try it! I'll let you know how it goes. THANKS!
helpful video, thank you.
Thank you i just got my Silhouette and im trying to create a some what complex design using felt and cutting it by hand just isnt ....ummmm..... cutting it.
Thank you so much, I've wasted so much time and felt in the past! Worked first time, my biggest mistake, I always left the backing paper on!
hi Jessica, just got a quick question.. what is the thickness of your felt? i'm looking at a 1mm or 3mm, what do you suggest??
I know this video is old but do u think the self adhesive felt sheets would work the same as applying the Heat n Bond to plain felt?
So helpful! Thanks for posting.
Hi Jessica, your video is just SO helpful. I am so nervous about buying a cameo but I had a couple questions that will decide if I do. If I have a very simple, yet custom shape that id like to be cut out on 20% wool felt, can I and how do I add it to the cameo software? Is that possible? Second question, is there wonder under that is thinner looking than the 805? I am using both sides of the felt to make flowers so you will see both sides. Would that just not be possible? Thanks@
Is this like an acrylic felt? I use acrylic and polyester felt. Im sure it will cut the polyester fine but the acrylic is fibrous so not sure how it would go
I want to cut the felt, but not have the shinny back interfacing. Is there interfacing that you have used that you can pull it off after the picture is cut out?
Hi Jessica! I just followed this exactly and when i pulled the felt off the cutting mat, the wonderunder had stuck to the mat and peeled off the felt ruining it :/ any reason this might have happened? Please get back to me as soon as you can! Thanks!
Can you use the felt they sell in Joann's and michael's? It's prob the cheapest felt but I already have a ton of it
Hi! I skipped ironing the pellon 805 step and the felt didn't move which was great but my silhouette didn't cut the felt and for the life of me I can't figure out why. I used the settings 3, 33 double cut and made sure that my new fabric blade was set at 10 and it didn't even score the acrylic felt. I'm sure I'm missing something but not sure what, any tips? BTW your video is very helpful which is part of the reason why I can't figure out why my silhouette won't cut felt.
When you say applique, I may need to research a little more, but if I have a design or jpeg file from clipart and I cut for applique, will I be able to do the applique on my embroidery machine with satin stitches around it even though it wasn't originally an applique??? I am new to silhouette and want to know before I purchase the software.
HAVE YOU TRIED FREEZER PAPER?
hello one question I can use fondant or gum paste with the cameo?
Can you just use felt and no backing?
You are my hero! Thanks you so much!
do you know if I can use my expression to cut felt?
I would think so. :)
so im wondering why you need wonder under? i tried freezer paper. didnt work. does the backing help cut it? im so confused and having a hard time trying to cut felt
thank you. will it help to cut through stiffen felt?
thanks it's frustrating lol. its for my sons baseball banner
Thank you for sharing thing video. How can I get this machine?
Thank you so much for the information it was useful :)
Thank you so much
How can buy this machine
will it work with stiff felt??
I'm not sure. If you try, you'll probably have to tape the felt to the mat. I doubt it would stick.
Just to know you can cut Felt ... Help me so much !!!! THANKS !!!!!!
where do you get your felt from?
Jessica Anderson thank you so much! So happy I found your video! It's been very helpful. 💕
Mine never works. No matter which kind of felt I use, or what settings I use. I'm really bummed. It never gets all the way through the felt.
I know your comment was 4 years ago, but I'm responding anyway. When I cut really thick things like thick chipboard, I'll set it to "double cut" and I'll ALSO send it through to cut twice. So it's cutting it 4 times. If your thickness setting is 33 and your blade is low enough and you cut it 4 times, it should cut through pretty much anything.
stiffened felt cuts much better
Im planing to buy die cut for felt, thank you for shearing your experience!
